Take the trunk off, weld on some brackets to fit the baby seat, diaper bag in the side bag!!!!!!! Wouldn't doubt its been done before!!!!!! Congrats on the new tax deduction!!!

All you will do that way is to introduce more air into the system. Have you checked the bushing thru the left side cover that the shifter goes thru? Might try to force somegrease in there, or just remove the linkage and clean it, put a dab of grease on the shaft and reinstall it. Might help, might not. Unfortunately if this doesn't work, you'll have to pull the clutch cover and the clutch housing off to look at the shift cam and pawls to see if something is going on there. Could be a shift cam pin coming out or something like that. Just thinking............. Dan PS buy a speed bleeder to put in there and make it easier to bleed

Lonna, when are you gonna give him time from the house chores to work on the bike!?!?!?!? Tell him I said "Hey!" and the motors finally back in the bike! Of course, now I'm replacing the swingarm bushings, etc! Another piece back on the bike, another order to Flatout!!! But I can finally see the light! By the way, I can bring a sawzall and an 18" tree saw blade to cut down some windshields!! Ask him if that's the proper tool!!! Later, Dan :scratchchin:

Solid Motor Mount???
Dano replied to FROG MAN's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Hey Gig, the only thing I can think is that they wanted to make sure it was tight across there so the bolt didn't come loose so you could put proper torque on it. As with your intercom job, that's why I just decided to do this, because I didn't want to be caught out with any surprises when I was riding this year. Too many times last year the bike just felt "squiggly", I knew I wanted 2nd gear fixed sooner than later (cause I kept forgetting to take it easy in 2nd) and being 24 years old with no knowledge of maintenance on the bike (now know almost none!) I decided it needed to be done. I will feel much more confident in the bike without hesitation to take it anywhere. And I will know who did the work (me) and how it was done. Believe me Yammer, the gonads have been tight a couple of times, but you gotta get in the water to learn how to swim!!!! Dan -

Solid Motor Mount???
Dano replied to FROG MAN's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It was harder to get the motor back inside the frame area, scratched the h**l out of my paint, gonna have to touch it up. Mounts went right in though, even got the bar across the front in. One suggestion though. Don't tighten anything up till you have all the bolts started, especially the right frame rail!!! It's in and tightened up now. After an hour break to prepare with care about 3 HUGE Porterhouses (been a year since I had 1 of those) and then consume with great abandon, I'm just letting it settle down and then I'll get the swingarm and other stuff back on there. Hardest part about tearing it down 3 months ago is remembering in what order to put things back on!!!!! Dan -

Solid Motor Mount???
Dano replied to FROG MAN's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well, since everything is clean and new, we'll just have to see how it works. 'Course those 3 coats of paint and 2 coats of primer might add a little thickness (!!) to the brackets. I have slid the mounts into the motor and between the rear mounts to make sure they fit. Just the bare frame with no wiring or extra stuff to get in the way. Maybe gonna try leaving the left side upper mount bracket and the lower right frame bar a little loose till I get them worked in there. 'Preciate the pointers, though. Will post picks tonite on the progress. Dan -

Hey Rocket, don't yell at me!!!!! I just figured we didn't need to help them 2nd genners out any!!!! I can't help it that the MK1's are easier to figure out!!! Sorry I put that out there without checking, but it made sense to me (just like owning a 1st gen does!!!!) Dan -
Solid Motor Mount???
Dano replied to FROG MAN's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Got mine from John Furbur at Blue Mountain (thanks Squeeze) the Delprins. About 85 bucks with shipping for all 6. They're going in with the motor this afternoon as soon as the boy gets back from cutting grass. Along with rebuilt forks with Progressives and all new bushings and seals, rear end re-torqed correctly, etc. I should have a "Red Rocket" on rails. Can't wait to try her out!!!! Dan -
Hmmmm, wonder if I could adapt one of our 175 watt Metal Halide wallpack lights to work in there--- medium base socket, small inverter to handle 1.35 amps @ 120 volt, lets see------- better forget and get back to the bike------------------------ Dan

Thats what I was gonna say, just like my 84. I do like the accesories, tho. Good buy, Jack Good luck with the wiring repairs. Dan -
Another great job, Don. Hows that bump on your head?(!!!) I noticed without turning anything off that it seems to be loading quicker, and my daughters even on her laptop watching TV on our cable modem hookup. Once again, thanks Don Dan PS, if you're that good and quick, come down and help me finish this bike!! Motors goin' in this afternoon.

Nope Jeff, it's for a 1st gen MK11, 86-93. All we need for the MK1 (83-85) is the spring kit. Dan -
Looks like a great buy, what's even better is when Flatout is your local dealer and you can pick up your internet order there and save that shipping! That has allowed me to spend more on the bike ( like a new Saddleman's Roadsofa seat for me!). Hope you can find space to put all that stuff on your bike!!! Dan

Dano replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It would have to be a rebuilt/salvage title, no way an 86 motor could match the VIN on the frame. My "built-on" tag on the frame says 10/83 and serial # is 41R---1262. According to yours, they must have built a LOT of bikes in October!!!! I would be careful with it, hopefully it's not a bad title. Dan -
Yammer, you better bring your wetsuit and scuba gear if you're gonna cut Dons grass!!!!:stirthepot:

Don't feel bad. I now have a new neck for the thermostat just from clicking on the wrong line on the order form, 2 new wrong gasket seals for the thermostat (Yamaha didn't upgrade the listing for the gasket when they upgraded the thermostat, you gotta check a vmax or newer Venture. or just change the first 00 to 01 for the correct gasket). Sorry that your hit is bigger, I would go against the dealer BIG time if it was their fault. Especially if you can prove they ordered the wrong part. Even suggest bringing in mediation or something like that. If they are a reputable dealer, they should make it right. Dan -
Hope to be real close on getting the "Red Rocket" back on the road----- 3 days to finish her up should do the trick, hopefully!!!!! I NEED A RIDE!!!!! BIG TIME!!!!!! Dan

Activate your turn signals, 4 ways, brake lights, radio, etc. If nothing blows, then possibly in the stator or regulator/rectifier that only shorts when its working.

Thanks to you all, I have read with interest and I hope this thread gets backed up and moved to the new server. I will digest and study (as Squeeze knows, I move on stuff but not till I have a game plan) and do something after maintenance day. I want the vboost on the bike, but it seems carefull planning is in order so as not to create further problems down the road. Will keep all posted. By the way, on the seemingly unknown lower slide bushings I was looking for for my forks, it seems that this particular part is called a "fork Piston" and does not show up on the 84 Yamaha parts fiche. You have to find it on an 85 fiche. Pops right up! To stroke Flatouts ego a little bit, they are really helping me out. I called Chris at 11:30 this morning, explained my plight, that not having forks is holding me up from getting the motor back in. He took it upon himself to place the order for overnight Saturday delivery and is only charging me $20 shipping for that. I couldn't believe it! I knew that these guys were great, but they really went out of their way for me today. Oh well, now to sit down and order all my new hoses for cooling, etc. Don't want one of these puppies blowing out on me after all this work. Thanks again guys, this thread is GREAT! Dan

Look for any wiring coming from the regulator (inside left swingarm), stator Out of left case, (3 white wires coming up left frame) and any other wiring that is affected by anything moving. What I'm getting at, you could be grounding out a wire as you shut off the bike and get off of it (moving the seat, kickstand down, etc.). That may explain the fuse being blown the next time you ride. Pull the plastic side panels, false tank cover, lower fairing legs, etc. to see everything. The drop in your voltmeter is showing aheavy draw on your battery/stator. Dan
