  1. Time to buy a new stator, Buckeye Performance.com or RM Stator.com are the best choices. Rick at Buckeye is a member here and a stand-up dude. Problem is, now your stuck till Tuesday. Make sure and also get a gasket for the middle gear and left cover, as you will need to pull both of them to replace the stator. Some black RTV sealant would be nice to seal the wires where they exit the left side case thru the grommet. You may even need 3 butt splices to connect the new stator wires to the old harness wiring. Take care as you remove and replace the left case cover for the starter gear setup in the upper left corner. BTW, are you running any extra lighting loads on your bike? Driving lights, etc.? If so, consider Rick's heavy duty stator. Good luck, Dan
  2. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM,,,,,,, an all red front row!!!!!!!!! Whaty 'ya think guys!!!!!!!!
  3. When you just click on their name in a post, it brings up a profile page then you click on contact info to get to the PM clicker...... couple more steps
  4. I'll let you know at the end of the weekend, got 6 of them to replace all my standard bleeders. Tore the bike down and it's put together time, so I should be bleeding all my lines this weekend.
  5. You guys better watch out for the Red Rocket when she comes out of the "skunk works" garage later next week!!!! Just sayin'!!! BTW, welcome to the site and it's still a good lookin' scoot. We'll help you get her fixed up right! Dan
  6. WIld hair reported earlier this week that he has had no problems so far on his recent trip... His thread is probably from last week. I might think about it when I wear this one out. Dan
  7. Hey 'Builder, you don't need to remove the entire swingarm to do this. In fact, unless you have the right size metric sockets, an approx. 16mm allen wrench and a good torque wrench, I wouldn't do it. I mean, if you want, you can, but it's not necessary to replace the bushings. If you have the time to get them from www.Flatoutmotorcycles.com, that's the prices I gave you plus shipping. Check your local stealer, but they are probably much higher than that. Keep us informed, and ask any questions you might have, as I will (God willing and my parts get here) be putting mine back together this weekend. And remember, grease everything! Call me on my cell if you need to, no problem at all. 317-370-0139 Dan
  8. Work on the bike, work on the bike, work on the bike..............
  9. Denvers all I heard today, 2 of them there.
  10. Jack, sorry I didn't get back to you last night, it was 12:30 when I quit workin on the bike for the night. Unfortunately, to get the knuckles lined up correctly, as far as having the slot on the knuckles line up with the marks on the shafts to ensure correct positioning, you'll have to pull the cover. I tried several different ways to do it, but if you try to just pull the shaft (circlip removed) to slide the knuckle on there, it is impossible to get the circlip back on. There's just not enough room to get fingers, etc. in there to get it done. The other problem is being able to tighten up the capture bolt that goes in there. If you pull the cover, it will at least enable you to grease up the shaft a little and make sure everything is OK in there. (Ask Squeeze how to check your oil splash wire in the crank bolt!) Sorry I couldn't make it easier on you, but I tried! BTW, I like the way to see if it's a 12 or 1300. "If 2nd blows, its a 1200, if it goes slow, it's a 1300".
  11. Well I don't know about guru, but I'm workin' on the smarta** thing real good! My dad always taught me, if you wanna know how it works and how its working, tear it apart and rebuild it!!! Now if I can just get that recall thingy to work better! Dan
  12. You had to get them started, didn't you!!!!! :stirthepot:
  13. Somebody limited me to 5 minutes a day.
  14. He sneaked his post in before me!!!! Of course, I typed more, so,,,,,,,,, Saw the race here in 05', yeah, if you can call it that. Chickens--ts wussied out and went home. Had perfect seats -- top row north end of the pits where you could see the pits, coming out of turn 13 and diving into turn 1,, then turn around and watch them thru the north infield. Would have been better with 18 cars, not 6! Going to MotoGp this year, gonna be great!
  15. Those are the shock links. Lucky for you I've disassembled mine to replace them while the bikes apart, so I can tell you what I've found. The easiest thing to do is to remove the links from the bike. There are 6 bushings all together, only 3 part numbers. I had to drive the old bushings out with a socket that would fit the ID of the link while they were in my cloth covered vice. My thought is that if you try to drive them out in the bike, you could damage your swingarm bearings. They are a composite fiber/plastic bushing. Part #'s & pricing from Flatout are as follows--get ready for this---- 90386-20116-00 14.81 each x 2 90381-18053-00 15.08 each x 2 90381-18049-00 20.00 each x 2 These are in stock at the warehouses, I would suggest strongly that you replace all of them and be done with it. Just my opinion, though. When you look inside the bushings, if you see a groove worn in the middle of them, they are shot. Send me a PM if you have any other questions. Good luck, Dan
  16. Jack, in the process of putting my lower case back on, I neglected to put the shift linkage in there. Now, with the motor in the bike, no collector or exhaust in the way, I discovered last night my only option is to pull the left case off. There is a circlip on the inside of the cover on the shaft that is almost impossible to get off. Maybe if you had the bike way up in the air, but I doubt it. That is my first project tonite. Will let you know any tricks I learn on the way, but I believe you'll have to pull the cover. And remember the front knuckle goes up, not down!!!!! Dan
  17. So there's 3 of us on here, huh?!? I look forward to Sunday as a day spent in the garage from 7 am till late putting the bike back together (last order from Flatout due in Friday or Saturday) and having racing on the TV. I've had one of my customers offer BIG money to come do a job for him this weekend, but I WILL NOT be dissuaded from completing this bike. And hopefully a week ahead of my self-imposed deadline. As far as the Monaco race, I'm not sure that BMW can do it. Sure, they've been there, but too much experience by the boys in red will give them trouble. Agree with Squeeze's assesment of Hamilton, he will be so frustrated that he will cause a safety car at some point. BTW, that steering wheel looks like the controls on a new Winger! Too much to worry with! Dan
  18. Hey Jack, what's my chance at getting bumped up towards the front of the shipping line? (:mo money: ) That thing would be sweet to have on when I get her done early next week!! (Don't tell anyone about the ice cream bribe above!) Dan
  19. Sunny, 83 degree day is in store for the 92nd running of the Indy 500! AND with everybody under 1 series now! Hope to have the bike done by the end of Monday! Dan
  20. That's cool!!!!
  21. Redneck, you tryin' to get Pegstr to sell it to you on the QT? Before you know it, you'll be like Squidley and be back on a first Gen, the only REAL bike out there! You know that all us "quality" folks ride 'em. :stirthepot: Dan BTW Pegstr, congrats on the upcoming nuptuals, better do it on the opposite side of the country if you don't want all of us down there! I know why you haven't told her about us! You didn't want her to know what a deviate you are by hangin' out with a bunch of nasty bikers like us!!!
  22. Just logged in, had to do it twice. 1st time it immediately went to the blue box that says welcome Danob11, but when it went to home page it showed in the upper right hand box that I wasn't logged in. Did it again and it's ok. Temporary glitch? Lines too quick for the server? (8346 down, 2492 up, ping 113 ms from Indy to Cincy). Just wondering, no big deal. Cleaned out the old DNS thingy the other night when you guys posted it. Thanks, Dan
  23. If I were to only replace 2 of them, it would be the two uppers in the front. Reason being, the rears are mounted directly to the frame where all the tubes come together, the lower front has the cross tube to help in the rigidity. The uppers only have a nut and washer on them, so rigids in this position would help the most. Just my stoopid opinion, hope it helps cornfuse somebody! Dan
  24. I also found that my swing arm shock link bushings were shot, letting the bolts move all over the place. Kinda pricey, but she's worth it. After all, I've replaced everything else that could be bad or worn out, can't stop here! Dan
