  7. We'll see you at Oberlin Inn tonite, Dan. Should be in around 6 or 7. Nothing like a trial by fire---- finished all the little stuff last night and got to bed around 3 this morning!!! Up at 8 and started packing.. Now, what did I forget???????? Oh, you could bring me one of them extra bikes you got, I'm gonna have withdrawal symptoms from NOT having to work on mine anymore!!!!!!!! :cool10: Dan
  8. Fozzy, you wanting to head over today? Call me at 317-835-1504 home or 317-370-0139 cell. Will be leaving by 10, can be over by Dayton around 12 or so (on 40, don't like Interstates, esp. 70). Dan
  9. That's one thing he said, is screw-on filters don't always have the proper anti-drain back valve, lets all the oil drain back down out of your motor. That was his big problem with screw on filters. Dan
  10. Yep. Talked to my local "smart-guy" yesterday, just some info------ filters are rated at "single pass efficiency". Factory specs state 70% trapped particulate on 1st pass thru filter. HiPro filters average 82% trapped, Fram is rated 85-87% and K&N is 87% +. Biggest thing is mileage and time. He was in motorcycle R&D back in the 80's & early 90's and told me this: lotta miles in little time--IE--WIld Hair (Lowell)--change filter and top off oil (3-5000 miles or higher). If your like most of us--- 3- 5000 miles per season-- change oil every month and a half or so. Oil is just like brake fluid, will absorb water from the atmosphere and break down. Not all we talked about, but a good primer. Dan
  11. Fozz, we're leaving out in the morning, sorry about that. Are you staying Saturday night? We're coming back on Sunday, leisurely pace. Dan
  12. Mama, what time are you leaving and which way are you heading? I've not heard from Eck, I was gonna meet them over in Ohio tomorrow. Don't know where they stopped for the night. WOuld like to ride with somebody! Dan
  13. Last chance, is anybody going thru Indy to Dons tomorrow? If not, I'm going to hookup with Eck and his crew coming up thru Ohio. See ya there! Dan
  14. I think you're referring back to the fuel pump checking situation, it's tucked back between the frame and the gas tank, along with the kick stand connector and the regulator/rectifier/stator connectors. Dan
  15. Glad you still got your humor there, JT. Keep it up. I like your solution!
  16. You're going counterclockwise, right? Might take a sharp rap to kick it loose.
  17. Oh boy, here we go again!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Ahhhhhh, I love it when a little contact cleaner goes a long way. Radio works FINE,not worried about the tape deck. Couldn't find connectors for the speaker pigtails, so just cut them off and put round insulated connectors on there and then spades at the speakers. 'Course it's gonna rain in a half hour, and I'LL BE DONE WITH THE FREAKIN" BIKE AND STILL CAN"T GO OUT AND RIDE!!!!!!!!!! Story of my life, I guess... Thanks for all the tips guys, now if anyone knows where you can get a replacement button and spring,,,,,,,,, it's for preset #2, no big deal.. Oh, can you help me locate the new left fairing mount plate I bought for this thing last Sep't??????? If you find it, my factory CB and cables are in there, too!!!!!!
  19. If she wasn't so busy with the cheesecakes, I'd let her polish'em up for me just to show other folks how to do it!!!!!
  20. Well, it's been slow at work so I took it in with me today........ Disassembled the entire unit, the sunk button actually had the shaft broken, so I superglued it with a couple of drops to stabilize it so it wont drop back in there again, no spring, either! Found some corrosion along the bottom edge of the radio controller board, along the bottom row of switches, sprayed it and cleaned it off, Cleaned everything else and made sure everything was free and clear. Just got back home, gettin' ready to plug it back in and see what happens....... Stayed tuned on this frequency for further updates. Oh, BTW, last thing to do b4 finishing it up!!!!
  21. That is your YICS system. Remove the tubes from the intake mounts under the carbs and cap them off. You've got a huge vacuum leak!!!!!!
  22. Got a factory radio to put on the rig, checked it last nite with power, button #2 for preset is sunk down in, keeps unit from operating, power comes on, have some functionality, but no channel changing. Any tricks or ideas? If not, I'll have to go back to aftermarket setup for this weekend. Dan
  23. Can you do a test on the pickup coils??? Asking everybody else......
  24. Still here with you and still prayin',JT. Keep up your spirits for her with help from us. Dan
