Where do these wires go????
Dano replied to Coach's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Heck, that only took all day and 9 posts to get that one!!!!! -
Kandaje, they will mount up to a set of Squidleys driving light brakets, which you should have on your bike anyway so people can definately see you, but running 2 of them I would run through the supplied relay and just use the horn circuit to activate the relay. 1 horn will work OK on the horn circuit direct. Where do these wires go????
Dano replied to Coach's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Looking at the schematic in the back of my manual, the only double ground it shows is one coming off of the body of the TCI, another one comes off a slide resistor (doesn't say what is is, but the other side of it is green/white and goes directly into the TCI). This terrminal goes directly to a ground point, so I would say to put them under the same bolt/screw. I believe that my ground point was a small (1/2") tab on the frame with a 10mm short bolt in it. It was not a mount tab for the TCI or anything, it was on the main frame in that area. Dan -
I think you guys are getting to---------HORNY around here, obviously we need a "HORN_OFF" to settle this debate! Anybody coming to the Indiana M&E on the 26th got a Stebel on their bike??????? I'll supply the WOLO "BadBoyz". (If I get the water cleaned out of it from that small pond (1-1/2' deep) I went thru on the road to Ohio on the 4th!) Frogman, you would have been proud! Dan

Where do these wires go????
Dano replied to Coach's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There should be a screw into the upper main frame right around there, kinda follow the way that the wires want to run. The bigger one goes under this screw, I believe the other one may go to the starter solenoid coil (big round thing right beside the battery). Dan -
I found the exact same horn---called Bad Boyz by WOLO at Autozone for about the same price. Exact same, execpt they have plastic chrome round covers on the intakes instead of all black. Dan

www.flatoutmotorcycles.com has them for $17.92 each. Good price on shipping, too. Tell them you're with Venturerider when you order. You need to check your bolt gaskets, too. Mine were hard as a rock when I replaced my gaskets. Dan

Exhaust Gasket 84 venture
Dano replied to tiny84's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Check out www.flatoutmotorcycles.com, they give great internet prices and treat us real good. Let them know you're with Ventureriders if you order. They are local to me so let me know if you need some help. Do you hear any exhaust noise coming from the rear, or "popping" on deceleration? These are clues the exhaust is leaking. If the round gaskets at the upper connection of the downtubes in the rear to the stubs coming out of the head is loose, you can remove the clamps, take a piece of solid #12 copper wire and wrap around the tube next to the gasket, reinstall your clamp and it will help to tighten things up. -
I use www.flatoutmotorcycles.com, great service and prices. Mention you're with Venturerider.org when you order. Dan OOps- bet you go to Wallyworld, though. Fram CH6002 filter is better than stock. Can get your oil there, too.

blown clutch or tranny ended trip
Dano replied to chocking's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Put it on the center stand and try it, that way the rear wheel can spin, if indeed it is the clutch froze up. Had this happen to me on my old H2-750 years ago, except it completely stopped the motor from even running. Next you will probably have to pull off the clutch cover, remove the clutch pack and see how everything turns. You may find something in the clutch basket when you pull the cover. Good luck and ask questions!! Dan Edit- while you were heading to Moms, could you still shift without using the clutch? Any abnormal vibrations? This would narrow it down a little. -
Might have been your Guardian Angel protecting you from something, too! never know about these things! Careful if you do head out, make sure that Angel is tightly attached to the bike! Dan

Output shaft problems??
Dano replied to tooldood's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sorry Randy, classic case of these glasses not reading whats on the screen!! Dan -
What is the "can" in between the cylinder banks for? Something for the fuel system? I like that "blacked-out" engine look, Going to do that to mine, but thought about keeping the side covers polished. Nice looking bike!!

No problem, just wanted you to know I was available in case you needed help. pegscraper--Y'all want to know what the only DRAG (cheap pun here) of the trip was? Before we left I checked his floorboards, not one single scrape on them. Well I can't be the first one to touch down someone else's bike. I had to make sure to keep the boards off the ground. Oh well, 99% of the trip was interstate anyway, where there's not really any opportunity for that. Sorry you couldn't keep up your namesake, Lynn. But you know, the proper thinking on this should have been----"RENTAL!", and treated it appropriately. In Steves drug induced stupor, he would have thought that HE did it!!!!!! Dan

Dan, try taking the cables loose at the slider, then hooking them up to the carbs before you stick the carbs in the bike. Its easier for me this way. Of course, I keep a 3 lb. hammer around just in case I need any carb work done!! Dan

Lost passenger push talk button possible at Kitchener Rally
Dano replied to dogman's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Does make for a peacefull ride, though, doesn't it?! Dan -
Can't help on the carbs and mileage, but the lights look good! Question, though. Do they run straight off the switch or are you also running thru the accessories circuit with a relay so that they go off when you turn the bike off? That way you don't forget to turn them off. Makes life a lot easier!! Dan

Glad everyone made it home. Thanks to Pegscraper (boy, I bet that was rough having to ride a 2nd gen all day!) and Mariner Fan for making sure our Indiana boy got home safe. We'll see everyone on the 26th. Bummer, hope you get better soon. Peg, hope you can make it down, too. Dan

Output shaft problems??
Dano replied to tooldood's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Sounds like that could be the trick--- theres a set of gears on ebay right now, could have what you need. Thats called a ratchet cam, keeps things from breaking if the rear wheel is locked up/unable to turn. Otherwise, if you can wrench, you gotta take that piece off to redo second gear and the thrust washer/split clip anyway.
