  1. The split clip is visible right on the end of the pinion shaft, if I remember correctly. You should be able to see the clip that holds it all together. There will be some wear evident right where the split clip is in the groove of the driven axle. Dan
  2. Then I invite you and the misses to come up and ride with us in the morning!! Did not mean anything by the post, hope you know. Just stirrin' up the pot a little!! Dan
  3. How are you going to push the pinion gear back to get the thrust washer and split clip off of the shaft without removing it? IMHO, you need to pull the bottom off to get in there to do it. Would be interested to know. By the way, you can pull the left rear cover off the motor to inspect the split clip to see how much wear there is on it. Dan
  4. Dang, Bob, you must own a 2nd gen:rotfl: Just Skiddin', Dan
  5. Oil change with the right oil will probably fix that, we'll talk about it over breakfast. Dan Hey, you're not riding that black 86 I talked to last month at Zionsville and 79th st. are you? your daughter van was broke down.
  6. Sounds like you need to learn how to wrench and forget about these stealers. It ain't that hard, and if it takes the dealer 3 weeks to screw it up, with all the help on here, we can screw it up a LOT faster!! Dan
  7. Nice to see you on here, Chris. Guess I wasn't too lazy to get that one done, huh!!!!!!! Thanks out to Jack (Condor) for his help to me once again. Dan
  8. I LIKE that idea!!! Dan
  9. From Squeezes satellite view, looks like you need to cut the grass there, Maineac!! You been found!!! Dan
  10. Keep up the good work, Lutz, he's got a 2nd gen now, he'll be spending plenty of it!!!! Dan
  11. Yep, think its that boost sensor thingy. No reaction whatsoever when applying vacuum or applying pressure to the tube. Boost sensor thingy is mounted to the left of the TCI, bottom side of bracket. Follow the little hosey thing that comes off of carb #2 (front left) up into the guts of the bike. Where it ends, thats the boost sensor thingy! Now I gotta get me 1 of those. Dan Hummm, just wondering if the little one way valve in the line could be stuck closed???
  12. Gotta try that boost sensor thingy, even have to do it off the line, so its consistent across all gears. Tried the carb synch, wasn't it. Dan
  13. Did you expect any different??????? BTW, got the part in today, thanks alot Jack:thumbsup2: Dan
  14. I'll give you 100 bucks for the motor, don't blow it up!!! 'Cause when you stick that 1300 in your 84, I'll have the 2nd gear fixed, then pull up next to ya, and blow yer doors off! Dan
  15. I know I can't roll on the power under 2 grand, it'll pop and backfire on me. Above 2k tho, is an ENTIRELY different matter!! Thats with 93 no-ethanol gas. Dan
  16. Dragon, gonna hold off on those parts we talked about earlier. THanks for the replies, tho. Dan
  17. Only if you put in solid motor mounts. Those bars help to stiffen the frame front to back. Just my opinion, tho. Dan
  18. I'll take it off your hands for 200 bucks. I know how you don't like to have "junk" sittin' around!!! LOL Dan PS- it'll take me a week and 100 bucks in parts and it'll be fixed!!
  19. Solid motor mounts. There are 6 of them. Go to the Blue Mountain Sportbike ad at the top of the page when it comes up, they have the solid Delrin mounts. It stiffens up the chassis to make your bike handle better. Squeeze Probably has some more "technical"(!!) stuff he could tell you about the mounts and how they work. Dan
  20. Boo, that's cool (except for the 45 yrs!!!!!), if the timing works out for your trip down on Saturday, check in with us!! Some times for places are on the thread. Ride safe, Dan
  21. Put some solid mounts in there while you're at it. You'll be amazed at the difference. Dan
  22. Hey Boo, you coming down to ride with us on Saturday???!!!
  23. Atwell, as I posted in the previous thread about you flying up to get your bike (you probably haven't seen it), I would be glad to ride thru Indiana with you. Don't know how far you will make it on Sunday, but will be glad to meet up with you for the ride down to Louisville. We've got many people throughout here that will be glad to help if needed. Give me a call on my cell at 317-370-0139 and be glad to talk with you. I didn't know if you'd be going down 65 or on down 74 to Cincinnati and then down I-75 towards your area. Traffic on 74 is much lighter than 65, with a WHOLE lot less trucks to mess with. Just a thought. Dan
  24. You could always play like the boys on OCC a couple years ago, and just get the gas can out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  25. If he comes thru Indy, and why wouldn't he, I would recommend coming on down to I-74 in Illinois and then coming across down to Cincinnati. Much less traffic and much safer. I would be willing to take a day off and meet him at the border or a bit further and ride with him down to Cincinnati. Got some vacation days to burn. Depending on where you are starting from(not sure your co-ordinates) he might be ready to hit Indiana by Monday morning. Let me know soon so I can arrange the day off. Dan
