On our Indiana meet & greet ride yesterday, we had 2 new members, a convert to our site who rides an Electra-Glide, and 2 guys riding bobber Yamahas who were googling our bikes as we were checking theirs out. Our presence out there is really growing. As stated by Bill, our "side-lines" members are starting to "come out of the woodwork" and showing themselves. Hopefully this will continue to the Int'l meet next year, I know I'm gonna talk the wife into coming down. Side note----- why does work and personal responsibilities have to come in the way of Ventureriders? Dan

If it's a "small" light icon, that's the rear brake light. If it's a "big" icon, that's your headlight. The CMU recognizes a set amount of current draw going to these lights as a base standard and when the current draw is less than the set parameters, it sets a trouble code (ie: little red flashing lite and corresponding icon lit). For some reason, it doesn't set a code if the draw is higher than normal. Hope this helps. Dan

I don't know if they work or not, but they were on my bike when I got it, and any ones I have seen have taken off, most recently on Thursday when we were checking out the Brown County ride. One momma standing in the road coming around a curve, she blasted outta there before we even got close, baby took off the other way. On the wifes vehicle(s), the only one that's never had them on there got slammed in the side door by a deer one evening coming home out in the country. I know that's not definitive proof, just my testimony. The way I figure it, it can't hurt, just like having an extra horn or lights on your bike for the cagers to see. Kinda like the headlight modulator thread. Just my experience, Dan

Look under VR Tech, 1st gen tech library, towards the bottom you will see "Second gear repair". Click on this link and read up. Dan

The split clip is visible right on the end of the pinion shaft, if I remember correctly. You should be able to see the clip that holds it all together. There will be some wear evident right where the split clip is in the groove of the driven axle. Dan

Then I invite you and the misses to come up and ride with us in the morning!! Did not mean anything by the post, hope you know. Just stirrin' up the pot a little!! Dan

How are you going to push the pinion gear back to get the thrust washer and split clip off of the shaft without removing it? IMHO, you need to pull the bottom off to get in there to do it. Would be interested to know. By the way, you can pull the left rear cover off the motor to inspect the split clip to see how much wear there is on it. Dan

Sounds like you need to learn how to wrench and forget about these stealers. It ain't that hard, and if it takes the dealer 3 weeks to screw it up, with all the help on here, we can screw it up a LOT faster!! Dan

Timing adjustment
Dano replied to a1bummer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yep, think its that boost sensor thingy. No reaction whatsoever when applying vacuum or applying pressure to the tube. Boost sensor thingy is mounted to the left of the TCI, bottom side of bracket. Follow the little hosey thing that comes off of carb #2 (front left) up into the guts of the bike. Where it ends, thats the boost sensor thingy! Now I gotta get me 1 of those. Dan Hummm, just wondering if the little one way valve in the line could be stuck closed???- 17 replies

Solid motor mounts. There are 6 of them. Go to the Blue Mountain Sportbike ad at the top of the page when it comes up, they have the solid Delrin mounts. It stiffens up the chassis to make your bike handle better. Squeeze Probably has some more "technical"(!!) stuff he could tell you about the mounts and how they work. Dan
-
Boo, that's cool (except for the 45 yrs!!!!!), if the timing works out for your trip down on Saturday, check in with us!! Some times for places are on the thread. Ride safe, Dan

Put some solid mounts in there while you're at it. You'll be amazed at the difference. Dan
