Heads Up On Headlight Switch
Dano replied to bongobobny's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
What gets me George, is he's saying that the switch is inbetween the positions. I would think that possibly the spring is bad or it's just worn out. Probably has both elements lit up, thats why the volts are dropping. Just like having too many lights on. I would be leary of the switch, tho. Dan -

Don't break the rear resevoir
Dano replied to igya's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
On the 1st gens, the rear brake reservoir is mounted above the master cylinder. It has a 14mm fill bolt located right near the corner of the unit. He is describing a good way to remove this bolt without breaking the reservoir. Dan- 6 replies

Battery Warning Light Help
Dano replied to JayLaveroni's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Check the connection where the sensor plugs into the wiring harness, may be some corrosion in there not allowing the signal to transfer. Also make sure your electrolyte covers the sensor as it's installed. Short of this being the problem, you could get rid of it by soldering a 2 ohm resistor in line. Dan -
Had the same thing on mine, replaced the springs with new ones, did the trick. Also, no engine oil that says anything about "energy-conserving". You probably still have some friction modifiers in the plates that will work it's way out. Try the springs, tho. Dan

That's why I don't get nuthin done around here!! WIfe keeps tellin me to get busy, then when she turns her back, here I am!! Keep up the good work!!!!!!! Dan

Hamdavid, you can change your heading under USER CP to make your bike type appear where it says "member". You can also add a pic there so we can see your bike, too! Kinda what mine looks like. Dan

Thanks Ruffie! Great site! Just wasted 30 minutes looking thru there. Looks like it's easier to remove the whole mount bar, the rear probably needs it too! Dan

Rectifier Differences
Dano replied to MasterGuns's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have a factory manual 83-85, will check it when I get home tonite (late). It's got the pull out schematic at the back of the book that should show it. Should have a post on it up by 11:30 to midnite (my usual Venture time!). -
Usually at the back end of a 1st gen!! Dan
