I think I have the same problem with my 84, except my right channel doesn't work. If you take the plugs out of the box and hook them straight to the unit, works fine. Almost like they're not making full contact. Sometimes I'll hit a bump and it'll work for a while....... Dan

symptoms of a stator going bad?
Dano replied to bobcat's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Pull the left side cover, just along the curve of the frame is a big white plug with 3 big white wires, take the straps loose and pull it out. Best thing to do is cut off the plugs and solder the wires together. Dan -
Ahhhhh, it's too bad THAT hasn't happened yet!!!!

I have a solution for the future----- buy a 1st gen and don't worry about getting "shot" by the radar, laser, lidar. I have been pegged with all 3, as recently as last Friday. All were single vehicle (me) no one else around. All 3 times the LEO's just look at their display, look at me and start shrugging their shoulders. 1st gen has no flat vertical surfaces, all plastic (don't know if that matters). Truly the 1st "stealth" vehicle available to the public! And just think of the billions they spent developing the stealth fighter & bomber!!! Seriously, even heading towards one of those school-zone "Your speed is...." radar trailers, at a consistent 25 mph, the display is going anywhere from 15 up to 39, with no other vehicles around! Anybody else with a 1st gen have the same experience?? Curious:detective: Dan

"Accepting donations for Good Cause" in place of "selling" will keep you out of trouble in a dry county!!!!!! BTW-- means no liquor or beer sales allowed!!!!!

I put the cheap version of the Stebel (WOLO Bad Boys-Autozone-30 bucks) on the "Squidley" mount facing directly out front, finally wired in the relay with 18 guage goin' to the horn. SAVED US coming home Sunday in little town, older gent started to come out on us, gave him 3 seconds of "Full Alert" from the horn, don't know who had to clean up more--- him or the Navigator!!! Dan

I myself quite enjoy reading all the posts about the 2nd gens falling apart!!!!! Yours Truly(?!) Skinny Squidley

You are moving the whole bucket with a single lamp/dual element. You would have to re-engineer the lamp to do that.

scoot covers

Walmart- 20 bucks for the covers, bought mine today. Self-storage shed is good idea, cheap insurance from sitting outside getting mice and everything in there. Drain the gas completely (including carbs!), change the oil, remove the batteries and bring them home and keep'em warm and on a trickle charger. Try to block the bikes up off the tires to keep from developing a flat spot in the tires. Up on the center stand with something to hold up the rear tire a little bit should do the trick. Miss anything? Dan -
Made the reservation, voted in the poll, just biding time till next year!! EZornes sounds like he's coming, a few others at the Michiana/Indigan M&E jostled around about coming. Dan

OUCH. Got hit in the elbow by one at work last week. Can't imagine what you went through.

Same here, I remember seeing your bike at Dons. Paint and plastic are temporary, really glad you and the wife are OK. Dan

Glad you made it back, Bob. Great way to make up for that lost riding time!!! Dan

A + B are correct. Feed fused battery feed to #30 (Use at LEAST a 16 guage wire for this) and the feed to the horn off of #87 (also use 16 guage wire here, too). Ground wire can attach anywhere to the frame. Use the 16 guage wire because you have a 12v DC motor which eats up a LOT of current (amperage) when first starting (hence, the use of the relay). It will work better and last longer with the larger size wire. Dan

Ok boss, worries over

I was more worried about sucking the sump area dry as in being above 5500 + on hard runs. I figure there can't be more than 1/2-3/4" difference between the sensor level and the sump pickup for the oil pump. THAT's what concerns me. I've seen expensive race motors toasted because the sump went dry on 'em. Anybody shed some light on these thoughts?

Headlight Problem
Dano replied to DRAGIN TAIL's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yep, carefully take apart, some springs in there, spray the cr*p out of it. Should fix it. Dan -
Thats why I was looking to put in some kind of a secondary guage, possibly with pressure switch and idiot light if I ever lost pressure. Dan

Funky Fuel Gauge?
Dano replied to Schlepporello's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That's my thoughts, also. My Durango only gets 15 mpg, so I let off steam on the bike to make up for it.
