The Front End Wiggle :-(

Get ahold of Condor, see if he has any "Condorbrace"s left. Same as the other brand, but much more cost effective. You can use a 5/8ths chrome plug to cover the bolt heads to keep the water out. Here's a couple of pictures. Dan -
Boost Sensor?????

Adjusts the timing of the spark, just like a vacuum advance did on the old school non-electronic motors of the '60's. Dan -
And he cleans up a 1st gen pretty well, too!!!!!! Mines comin' this week, Brad. I believe most people on here are trustworthy and generous, maybe to a fault, but that's how we ride!!!!! Dan

Hey Mini- after talking with Muffin on the phone last night, as I understand it from him, it's nothing different than sittin' on the bike goin' thru the carwash down at the corner! I actually think the guy LOVES riding through it! Good luck with your encounters over the next couple weeks, send some of it up here (never thought I would say that after the spring we had!!) Dan

Now Redneck, you know that Cindy would be operating the finest (and quickest!) walker around if you got her a 1st gen!!!!! She would be snappin' her way around the house so fast Dale couldn't keep up with her! Hope you feel better soon Cindy, and Dale, keep up the GOOD fight! Dan

Need to check the nut that holds the yoke on the shaft coming out of the pinion gear. One of our members just had his break. There is a crush washer behind there that can loosen up. He had a "scraping sound" also........ Dan -
Does that tie into the harness like the mute/channel search on the radio? Might be able to access it by taking out the radio, amp and bucket to see in there. I gotta do the same thing cause I've lost my search button on the remote..... Dan

Gary, as said before, a HUGE loss of words here. We also had a good friend pass on Friday. No amount of anything will help, except for our prayers to the man above. Let us take care of that for you, and you take care of the rest of your family. You have been thru WAY to much for one to bear. We will help carry that burden for you, as much as we can. Dan

When we went down to Louisville with Bob (Mariner Fan), the son and I brought 421 back up from I-71. Great ride!! I'm STILL envious!!!

Find somebody around you that has an early 83-85 (MKI) Venture. Find a straight road for about a mile and a half and let'er rip. Then find some twisties, and do the same. The 'Wing was made for strictly touring (that's why they're called Interstates and Aspencades)The Venture was built specifically for touring an sport riding. Rated from the factory at 95 hp, 12.05 seconds @ 105 mph in the standing quarter mile for an 800 lb. TOURING bike!!!! We regularly scrape the pegs when we're going around the corners. Muffinman should tell you some stories (wheelstands like a crotch rocket to name a few!!). Like I say, borrow one and enjoy! Welcome to the board! Dan PS---- there are MANY early Ventures out there. The bikes are good for around 200k, the early 83-85's had a problem in the tranny, easy fix. Very durable, more than enuff bike for anybody.

I'm envious!!!!!! I only did 600 this weekend over to NE Ohio (east of Mansfield), got a migraine late Saturday night, ruined my Sunday till about 6 PM, got in about an hour of great roads up there, till it got to where the deer were starting to move. I'm glad you guys had a great weekend!!!!! Guess I'll have to wait till Steve gets his ride together!!!! Dan

Carb & vacuum question
Dano replied to Dano's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks MiCarl, I'll hook-em up and see. I had a sneaky suspicion, but wanted to see what diagnoses was. Thanks, Dan- 2 replies

OK, got the "twinkie" (oil cooler?) redone and installed. And the bike actually started and ran after that!!!! However, as some of you know, I've been having a problem with the bike back-firing under load below about 3k on the tach. Just for the heck of it, and checking the pressure (boost) sensor, I pulled the sensor hose off of #2, held my finger over the hole, raised my rpm's to 2500-3000, applied vacuum and the rpm's changed. Sensor good. Put the hose on and decided to check the vacuum on the other cylinders. #2 dropped a little with open tube, same as 3 & 4 (Maybe 100 rpm). However, and this is what is mystifying, #1 when opened up, the idle INCREASED dramatically, almost 500 rpm! HUGE amounts of vacuum on that carb? My question to you'all then, is #1 OK and the other 3 are weak? Or is #1 too high and the other 3 are OK? Could this be tied into my back-firing problem? Inquiring minds NEED to know!!!!! Stupified Dan

It should not be your responsibility to repair your bike. The flatbed operator IS responsible. If he doesn't want to stand up for this, then file with your insurance company and let them go after the operator. No reason to give up a good bike because of someone elses lack of proper tie-downs. Dan

Bad Boy Horns Revisited
Dano replied to Schlepporello's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I myself would not mount it inside the body work like that. You will be defeating the purpose of having a loud horn. Possibly even hurting your own hearing!!!! These things put out approximately 113db at 10 feet. Do Squidley a favor, and yourself. Buy a set of his driving light brackets, pick up a set of $15 Flamethrower driving lights at Walmart and mount them up, then mount your Badboyz to one of the brackets. With the lights on there the horn won't look so out of place, and it'll do the most good for you. -
