    Dear Abby

Dear Randy, Please don't entertain the thought of pulling those heads off yourself. It is at best a messy, costly and potentially devastating encounter. You should have fun with your bike, not worrying over it. The dealer will have plenty of expertise to deal with this for you. It may still be a warranty item that they may cover. However, on the other, less important item in your letter, let the stealer deal with this one, send it back where it came from, as it is out of warranty, due for major rebuild, all items of interest are beyond repair. Even the memory in its onboard computer are fried, as it has forgotten where its home is and tends to wander for extended periods of time. Sincerely, Abbie (aka Skinny Squidley!!)
  2. I got to buy the wife a lawn mower for Mothers Day 3 years ago, I DID let her pick the color...............................
  3. I've never tried it that way before, Carl, I'm definately gonna do that this weekend. Might be why mines not running right off of idle. Dan
  4. My 84 standard lists 91 octane as the fuel source on the sticker inside the left panel. I found that it runs the best and I get better mileage with the premium. At least I hope so. Dan
  5. kw, sounds like your starter button is sticking, spray some contact cleaner in there. Normally the relay will not stick on by its self. Try that first. Dan
  6. Sun girls aren't bad, either!
  7. you could always tie a rope to Zeuss and let him pull you around!!! But wait a minute....... You might not be used to the speed!!! Dan
  8. Me thinks Skid completely forgot what he started this thread for!!!!!
  9. And if you have driving lights, make sure they're on. I mounted mine with Squid mounts so it makes for a triangle of light they're more apt to see. AND keep your thumb on the horn button to activate your BadBoyz or Stebel horn! Already saved my butt once!! Dan
  10. The ones right off the head? Could be the gasket starting to go. Or the threads on your screws are increadibly clean!!!!
  11. Southeastern Indiana, down off of Rt.1 & I 74. Beautiful. Then head over to Madison.
  12. Load the pics into your 'puter, usually to "My Pictures" folder under "My Documents". Go start a new post, then scroll down to where it says "Manage Attachments". Click on that, then click on the first line that says "Browse". This will open up "My Pics" on your 'puter, then find your pic and double click on it. Do that with each successive pic. Then go down and click "upload". This will add the pics to your post. Dan OOPs- forgot. You gotta resize your pics smaller. If you have XP, right click on the pic and click on "resize picture" for the smallest size. If you don't, Don won't let you upload!!!!!! Do this before you try uploading them. Do them as soon as you load into your 'puter.
  13. Pete, just give up and GO RIDE!!!!! ALL things are explained that way!! Dan PS- Why do you think Wildhair (Lowell) is so happy?!?!?!?!
  14. I like the end of the directions: "Go for a ride"
  15. Sounds like a lower wattage bulb not putting enough load on the relay. Compare lamp sizes. May need to add a resistor inline to compensate. Dan
  16. You know the 1st rule------WHERE ARE THE PICS?????? WE GOTTA SEE YOUR WORK!!!!!! Good job, it always looks better if you do it yourself!!!! Dan
  17. They never will, just got to try and include her. Every once in a while though, you get lucky and get your new girlfriend to yourself!!!!!!!! Dan
  18. Run them thru a relay (30 or 40 amp- Autozone), and power the relay from your ACC feed off your fuses. That way when the key is off, so are they. You can still use the switches to control when you want them on or not. All you are doing is controlling when the power is going to them. The reason you don't have much battery power after a short run, is the stator doesn't develop the required voltage till about 2-2500 rpm's. All of your short jaunts tend to run everything off the battery and not the stator, so the battery is not getting full charge. Leaving the lights on with the bike not runnin' don't help either!!!! Hope this helps ya, Dan
  19. Hey Bob, if you'd been riding the original stealth bike, a 1st gen, he would'nt have even seen ya!!! Passed by 3 Ohio State Highway Patrols yesterday, out by myself, doing graciously over their slow speed limit, didn't even get a rise out of them!!!!!! Dan Hope your guy is OK.
  20. I found them at my local hardware store, look in the plumbing section.
  21. Congratulations on joining the most exclusive club in the world!!!!! Only a fine few lucky souls have the courage and the smarts to get one of these fine machines (eat your hearts out, 2nd genners!!!!). These machines exist across the globe, do a Wiki search on Yamaha Venture. You also picked the best website to join. But you forgot the most important rule, when reporting anything new: Pictures!! We must have pictures! You have 1 week from your join date!!!!! Seriously, glad you are here, sounds like you have a beauty of a bike. You'll have to hook-up with us for a ride this fall. Welcome and enjoy!!! Dan
  22. No, No, No!!!!!!! Not another Squidley in a Speedo thread again!!!!! Please, please help us all before it's too late!!!!! Skinny Squidley
  23. Get ahold of Condor, see if he has any "Condorbrace"s left. Same as the other brand, but much more cost effective. You can use a 5/8ths chrome plug to cover the bolt heads to keep the water out. Here's a couple of pictures. Dan
  24. Adjusts the timing of the spark, just like a vacuum advance did on the old school non-electronic motors of the '60's. Dan
  25. And he cleans up a 1st gen pretty well, too!!!!!! Mines comin' this week, Brad. I believe most people on here are trustworthy and generous, maybe to a fault, but that's how we ride!!!!! Dan
