Oil pressure warning light coming on.........
Dano replied to nkbjones's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I remember back in the fall of 07, was in Cincinnati, my stator quit, 4th gear pin came out of the gear change cam. Rode the bike back home 125 miles getting hot, battery dying, nothing over 3rd gear riding it about 55-65 mph. I WAS worried about hurting the bike and I got chastized on here for going too SLOW! When I got home, had 8.5 volts left in the battery and she wouldn't run under 2 grand due to the low voltage.BUT SHE GOT ME HOME! I wouldn't trade this bike for NUTHIN'! Sure they're some things you gotta pay attention to, but these bikes are almost better than any car I've ever had! ('Cept for my Corvair, of course!) Dan -
How many bugs did you clean out of your teeth?! I did the same with mine last year, it was a blast!! Almost didn't want to put the plastic back on!

Might use WD40 if you want to flush out the cables to get rid of any dirt, then liberal multiple applications of cable lube to get rid of the WD40. Might work if your cables haven't been cleaned and lubed in a long time. JMHO, Dan

The rev limiter point is a little low on these bikes, around 7500 rpm, most 1st genners run up past there occasionally. The Vmaxs run red line around 8500-9000, same motor with different cams, etc. to keep the valves from floating. These motors are pretty much bullet-proof, I wouldn't worry about thrashing it too much, we haven't heard of one blowing up since I've been here. Dan -
Krome Rose comes to mind, also. I figured the girls would be all over this thread by now........

You can pick up cable lube at any car parts store, but I would advise to also purchase the cable lube adaptor sos you can do the job proper! Dan

The guy on ebay who sells them has some pics on the listing on how to do it. Caveat Emptor! Dan -
Hey, even Darrin gets one right every once in awhile!!!! Hope the rest of the bike's coming along well. LOL Dan

At least the bike wasn't hurt! Ya gotta look at the brightside sometimes and forget the dark! Good luck with the couch and heating pad this weekend, catch up on your movies. Dan

That's why I don't watch the news, except for the weather. Even got a "weather rock" to make sure they're right. Only listen to a local talk guy in the morning who started on 9/11, talks a straight line and You-know-who in the afternoon. I can create my own negativity, don't need their help! Dan

You actually don't get "taxed" on the "stimulus" check, that was just an advance on your "anticipated" tax return this year...... so they just deduct that from your refund this year. Thankfully they decided I didn't need much last year! I'm just getting started on ours, two small businesses, my w2s, the wifes and I do the kids taxes, too. Learned alot from my first accountant, who had just retired from the IRS as an audit agent. Nice man to know! Good luck everybody! Dan

Dang it Dan! You could've had another one in your stable of steeds! But 10 bucks is twice as much as the Warden will let you spend, were you gonna go without lunch next week?! -

I'm glad you spoke up about that! Might even do some of that myself this year! Really cool looking at all the bikes parked under there.

Wasn't MY name on that package! Better check my profile again there, "Little" Tom! I have absolutely NO knowledge of any packages being shipped to you! Squids probably trying to get me in trouble again......

That was great, Stardbog! And it didn't even have to be in English to understand the wimmen!

Quit letting all my secrets out, Kev!

We don't have oil pressure sensors on these bikes (don't know why), but oil level sensors. If you look under the front left of your oil pan, you'll see a wire coming off a sensor in the oil pan. Follow this and make sure it's connected. Otherwise, I believe you can use an ohm meter to see if it's working. Make sure your oil level is half way between the marks in the sight glass. If you don't hear valves rattling and rods seizing up, you're probably OK. I know these sensors drive me crazy if I'm on a high-speed take-off up thru third, because the oil will flow to the back of the pan (where the pick-up is, thank goodness) and the sensor will start flashing. It's probably just a loose connection somewhere. Dan
