I too, shall switch from Cinemax back to HBO to watch this. My bro-in-law is getting ready to deploy for 6 weeks to "fetch" IEDs and other explosives in Afghanistan. He trains troops ready to deploy at Camp Atterbury, and the Army figures a little "hands-on" for him will help keep our guys safer! Dan

'84 Front Wheel Bearings
Dano replied to Schlepporello's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'd recommend the sealed Yamaha bearings from www.flatoutmotorcycles.com , best you can get. BTW, welcome back, been a long time since we've seen ya! Hope everything is going OK with you and yours. Dan -
Hey, we can only dream about 100 degree days up here, only 0d this morning! Dan

Is that a 4 stroke? Looking at the exhaust pipe, I think it is. Would equate to approx. 100cc 2 stroke, maybe a little under powered for a steep climb, but probably fun for the daughter and missus. Now, if you want them to have a little fun, and they're at least 5'10" with long legs, you could give them my '77 IT400! Dan

Wow, serious case of information overload going on there! Cool job, Chuck. More details on mounts would be cool, tho. You know us tech heads, we wanna do the same thing! Dan

Has water gotten into the turn signal switch to provide a path to ground? And possibly intermix the signals to the other side? Follow all of GeorgeS' suggestions above, he's purty smart fellow! Dan 30+ yr Master Electrician and all-about decent guy

Just let them know you're with VR, Chris will take care of you! Dan -
Use a digital voltmeter set on DC volts, check voltage at the battery at idle, then at 2500-3000 rpm's. These bikes do not develop full voltage from the stator till 2500 rpms. Bike will run like crap till it gets full voltage. Also, pull the left side cover, right under the seat at the rear of the opening you will see a white plug with 3 white wires going in to it. Pull it apart and check the connections. This is the feed from the stator to the regulator. They have a history of burning up. Cut the connector out, buttsplice and heat shrink these wires to remove any future problems. You might need a new battery, too. Try these out and let us know whats going on and we'll help the best we can! Dan

You have just come to the realization that you are already addicted! Now you will find yourself planning time to come to Meet & Eats, dragging the husband along so he doesn't get lonely. Then, after awhile, your hubby will be riding past Yamaha dealers gazing longingly thru the window at that Midnite RSV............ Oh, by the way, Maintenance Day at Freebirds in NW Ohio is not to be missed........... P.S. You can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave.........

We had a member at MD last year (sorry, forget who it was), that had an RSTD doing the same thing. I know the covers were a bear to try and get out, we were going to do a valve adjustment class for everybody if we could, but we ended up just lacing the new gasket into place with the cover still under the frame backbone. It's a bear, and you need at least one helper, but you CAN do it! Dan

How do you take apart a diaphram

Does he have a buy-it-now price? Seemed to me like it was around 55 bucks plus shipping. Dan -
Seeing that you're blowing fuses and the signals are reversed, I would look where the harness comes from the bike out to the bar. At some point it has rubbed bare at a contact point with metal. Find the harness where it goes back to the bike from the light bar, then turn the steering back and forth. You could even install a new fuse, turn off the lights in the garage, activate a signal then turn the bars back and forth and look for a spark. Might find it that way. Good luck again, Dan

What Dan, you're not coming to the Int'l Rally this year? I was hoping Vogel was the weekend right after the rally, as I am planning on swinging down and across I-20 back up thru Atlanta and hitting the Dragon before heading back home. hate to miss it by a week!

Same here, if you remove the air box, it comes just in front of the gas tank filler neck box. You'll only see a couple of inches of it. A rubber line with a braided cover over it. It's definately NOT long enough to pull a little back to cut out the bad spot. Not sure of an aftermarket replacement for it though. Hopefully this helps, Dan

Hmm, I can drop something right in front of my eyes and not see it. Hate glasses. Became blind when I started wearing them. Dan I know, let the jokes begin! I totally opened up that door!

Hey Greg, we need some pics of you on the bike doing some doughnuts with the sidecar!! Shouldn't be too hard with no cars on the road! C'mon, give us something good to laugh at for a few days! Video would even be better! Dan
