Just purchased an 85 VR

I would say pull the clutch slave cylinder out also and rebuild and clean. Only 2 rings in there, easy to do but a pain to pull out. I think GeorgeS says to turn it upside down and it'll slide right out! Clean all electrical connections with CRC26 (Lowes) and put dielectric grease back on them when reassembling. Dan just ask questions, we'll be glad to answer!.- 19 replies

I'll be waiting too, Randy Dan -
1st bike, H2 750, fills all the catagories. Wicked fast, mean, basic looking death rocket. For the dirt, my old Yammi IT400. Like an old mule, takes a couple kicks to get it going but'll take you anywhere you wann go. I must say though, I like the Venture the most. It is capable of fulfilling many different roles and is always fun to ride. Dan

Best place for factory parts!
Dano replied to a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Have you checked regular UPS rates lately? Gone thru the roof. I talked to Chris at Flatout the other day, luckily I can pick mine up locally.Yammi raised their prices first of the year. Other alternative is to see if a dealer close to you has internet sales that is cheaper and see if you can pick up here. Thats what I did, and found these guys. Good luck, Dan -
And the tour starts for another year. Let the tracking begin!

I can swing by and check it if you want. Guy kinda runs wierd hours, just tell him what you want and he'll get it. My neighbor goes there and the owner is the relative of the guy who owns 2 Wheels in Beech Grove, where I go for my vintage dirt bike stuff. Dan

Just jump on the 1st gen and see what it's like, first! Then, when you manage to get close to it on a 2nd gen, you won't be as disappointed in not reaching it!

We used to ride our bicycles and drag a wagon up into the storm sewers, tape a couple of flashlights onto the wagon and ride it back downhill and see who made it all the way!

As long as you don't have to ride that to the rally! Do you want me to set up a booth for 'ya?!
-
Nope, the 2nd gen riders have FINALLY figured out they really wanted a 1st gen to begin with!!!!

Try to keep as vertical as you can, especially in low speed turns. I can turn mine around with no feet down on a country road, you just have to go slow and easy, and once again, keep yourself and the bike as vertical as possible!! Dan

Your getting bored, Big Tom, go do some more push-ups.....

BTW, it's #14 under the crankcase listing....... These plugs dry up and can start seeping. I replaced mine last year during the rebuild. Yur just too good there, Mini!

My family lives over there, I could have my brother stop in and say Hi to him. And just let him know that 6,000 people are watching this thread all over the world....... Dan -
20 degrees and only went around the block?! Heck, it was 32 here today and I just got back from about and hour and a half ride! 'Course I'm waiting for the pain when my fingers thaw out, but I still got a ride in! Congrats on the new ride, and we appreciate the verifying of the 1st gens are faster! Dan
