  1. Ya gots to watch what you wishes for! You did a great job on this, Reiny! Too bad this guy will get tired of all the business and want to retire to the Bahamas! LOL Dan
  2. Hey 'Strat, if you spent as much time ridin' as you did shootin' and editing, you'd have another 5000 miles on your bike! That, and you could come up and eat some pig with us this weekend! Dan
  3. Sounds like somebody likes the color of the ORIGINAL go fast bike, the 1st gen!
  4. Pull the airbox and fuel line, loosen the intake clamps, pop the carbs loose and pull them out the left side about half way. You should be able to get in there and attach the cables now. Make sure you have the correct cable going to the correct cam! Also check the little black box that the cables run thru along the upper left frame. Pull the lower leg off the fairing and you might be able to pull it down far enough to open up. A cable might have come out of the groove in there. Keep pluggin' away! You'll get her going good soon, and I would wait till you synch her up before trying to ride too much, she could act like a wild mustang if the synch isn't pretty close! Also agree with RandyA, pull the wheels yourself and take them in. They will be reinstalled correctly with the rear end being greased up and you will have learned one more important piece of maintenance to do on your bike! Happy riding, Dan
  5. My daughters
  6. I can't believe you guys missed the opportunity to drag him along for awhile! Skinny Squidley
  7. I am not allowed to comment on Fords, per my fathers request when we were growing up! Something about not cussing and being nice to your neighbors! LOL Dan PS, bigger motor, better pulling. Always buy it for what you're going to use it for. Don't do Mopar trucks, seen too many of them sitting in yards with their rear-ends puking out on them.
  8. Gave my mom a ride last year over at my cousins, she rode with me once about 30+ years ago..... She's 78 now, and enjoyed her self tremendously! I'd do it anytime if an older person wanted to take a ride!
  9. I too like the truck horn sound. I may have to replace my Bad Boyz with a set of these!
  10. Great job! We appreciate the tips and write up. Dan

    84 Exhaust

Guess I'm gonna have to get me some of those Jardines! or drill out my stock pipes!
  12. I agree on the be careful idea! Most all cagers are not aware of us out there yet. Just had a guy getting on the freeway today almost merge into me till I laid on the air horn for about 5 seconds. He had his "music" turned up so loud I could hear it over the horn! When he finally heard me, it scared the crap out of him! I almost reached out and kicked his car he was so close. The wife and I cut an evening ride short (was gonna go downtown- Big 10 womens tournament, mid-east volleyball finals in town- but decided not to because of the inattentive cagers. As far as waving at other riders, I'll always do it, regardless of the return. If we treat others as we want to be treated (well, except for those 2nd genners!), maybe it'll get nicer out there. JMHO Dan

    DON's MD

Ron, if you could keep up,,,,, you could head up here and ride with us up there...... We're on the SE side of Indy, just west of Shelbyville, will probably hook-up with some other guys around here. Dan PS, I don't think Dan is THAT despirate yet!!!!
  14. Nah, he deals with sign industry stuff. His company is one of our suppliers. Oh, and when he stopped by here, he was working hard! (or hardly working, can't remember which!)
  15. That's terrible! I take it you weren't on the Venture. It would've at least got you back home! Good luck on getting it fixed, chalk it up to your own "economic stimulus package" Dan
  16. Exactly what I was gonna build! So, whats it gonna take? I got an extra reg/rectifier, rear fender, maybe a couple other things laying around! Dan

    AHHH

Took the daughter out for a ride down to Shelbyville via the back road twisties. Felt good NOT to be bundled up like an Eskimo! Should do some side work tomorrow, but I'll wait till next week to do that! Think I'm gonna ride! 70+ and beautiful! Got some long overdue therapy needed!

    Trike Fun

Don, I will provide the 140 hp 4 bbl Corvair motor I got laying here if'n you want to get together and build one! Got the 110 hp 2 bbl if the 140's too much! But, if neither one floats your boat, I guess we could pull out the 180 hp turbo!
  19. Thanks Reiny! I'll be ordering my set next week! Power to the group buy! Dan
  20. Let's see.... Lunch with Squidley, lunch w/ me, lunch with Stratcat, looks to me like you won't have to buy too many lunches! At least we're still open! Dan
  21. Great job, Randy! I'm about to get started on mine, but it's an 84 and will be a little different. I'm going to make a receiver hitch, as I also want to put a cooler rack on there sometimes. I'll post pics and layout when I'm done. Thanks again, Dan
  22. 67 Tempest, 68 Buick Gran Sport convertible with the wedge motor, 67 Satellite w/ 383, 65 Corvair Monza Corsa with custom heads (6 top draft webers! 230 bhp) built by my high school science teacher and would only sell it to me, 65 Mustang (nothing special except the rust!). Friends cars we worked on: 69 Mach 1 Fastback w/ 429 SCJ, headers, intake and double pumper, roller cam, solid lifters, roller rockers, tubbed frame with HUGE tires to fill up the wheel wells. 69 Charger 440- motor massaged, blueprinted, etc. Neighbor that owned it wrapped it around a pole a week after we got that one done! Right now my brother has a 69 Firebird 400 convertible torn apart in his garage (for 15 years now!) #'s matching, new interior and top, just needs to get off his a** and put it back together. His quote: "Ain't puttin' any more miles on it just now"! BTW, has 11,000 ORIGINAL miles on it! Just a few from the past, could keep going forever! Dan
  23. My son is going to be sooooo mad that your daughter has a beau now. He finally got his license and a 79 Camaro that he could've come down to Louisville in! But, he's a jock and she is definately into more musical "intonations" and the two worlds would probably never collide! Nice video, I imagine that process took a lot longer than the video! Dan
  24. Did you put seafoam in the tank and run it for a bit when you parked it last? Could be the seafoam soaked into the ceramic insulator of the plug, shorting them out till you cleaned 'em real good. I've got a plug cleaner from Harbor Freight I use to clean my 2 stroke plugs, occasionally use it on my 4 stroke plugs. That may account for the smoke, also. But it was probably the excess fuel in the cylinders from trying to fire it up. Just a few thoughts to ponder..... Dan
  25. C'mon Peg, we'll not hear any of this balderdash! School gets out at 3, on the road by 4, just starting to get dark by 9 up at Don's! We'll pull all the 1st gens around with lights on to set up the tent! YOU CAN DO IT!
