  1. I don't see how it's a warranty issue unless the bike have less then 5 or 6000 miles on it. It's a part that needs grease. A TSB does not mean warranty. It's just a heads up for the dealer. Im sure the dealers that are doing this "under warranty" are doing to be nice guys so that they will not lose a customer. Hopefully your dealer will take care of it for no charge just to keep you happy.
  2. Just did a search through the New York members and found the MRAF is 25 miles away in Ripley, NY. He was active today so you may wanna try him. MRAF http://www.venturerider.org/forum/member.php?u=233
  3. Also, call every bike shop in the phone book. They may be listed as closed on Sundays, but someone may be in doing some catchup work. I caught a bike shop open once in Tulsa like that. They just happened to be there that day.
  4. You broke down in the wrong town. There's only 1 other member listed in Erie. f6ryder - http://www.venturerider.org/forum/member.php?u=655 I went through all the PA members who have been active in the last month and and there are only 2 others that are within an hour away. You may wanna try to contact them and see if they can be of assistance. ridefree40 is in Cochranton which is 54 miles away. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/member.php?u=3612 Dale A Allio is in Tionesta which is 61 miles from Erie. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/member.php?u=3276
  5. Crikey!! Did you stick your finger in it's cloaca to see if it was a male or female?
  6. I don't think a Harley dealer could help a 2nd gen anyways. I can't think of 1 Harley that uses a 15 inch rear tire so I don't see why any Harley dealer would even stock a tire that size. I had a tire showing cord in Missouri once on a Saturday night. No dealer was open Sunday. I went to a Harley dealer and found the junk tire pile. I found a tire that would work on the back of my Roadstar. It was actually in pretty good condition. Went to the Petro in Joplin and mounted the tire up in the parking lot. I worked for Petro in Amarillo at the time and was able to use a jack and 2 tire bars. I balanced the bike on the front tire, the kickstand and the jack under the shock.
  7. Way to represent the Darksiders!!!!
  8. The air pressure has nothing to do with the shock. The air pressure fills a bladder to set the preload on the spring. Unfortunately, yamaha made this an "all in one unit" and it is not serviceable. You can ride the bike with the shock leaking. The ride will be more bouncy. It's the same as having blown shocks on your car or pickup, just boing boing boing boing.
  9. Nope, needs a 15 inch tire.
  10. He tried it and didn't like it. Not a big deal. At least it was tried and he has experience with it. Some folks don't like Dunlops, or Avons, or Michelins, or Metzlers. He didn't like the car tire. I don't believe any of us had said "just slap it on and you'll notice no difference", on the contrary, most of us said there is a longer then expected break in time. I'm at least glad he tried it and reported on it even though it's not favorable.

    Final Oil

I use the Mobil 1 75w90 as well. If you have ever worked on a big truck and seen the difference in conventional and synthetic gear oil, you too would run synthetic.

  13. It wasn't a half pound of air, it was 10.5lbs of air. He went from 45 down to 34.5 I've never had a rear tire last 10,000 miles on any bike. I'll be lucky to get 15,000 on the CT right now. I don't know how folks are getting almost 20,000 out of a tire. They gotta be drivin' Miss Daisy or something.
  14. Good GOD is that thing white!! Looks good, matches the theme of the bike. I personally hate whitewalls because of the maintenance issues.
  15. I'm damn sexy... http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc18/WikkedKlownLove/fat-bastard.jpg
  16. It took me 1000 miles to break in my car tire. After that, I've noticed no difference except improved handling in adverse conditions.
  17. FIRST!!!
  18. Yamaha does it on the Raider. Custom bike builders do it.
  19. Doesn't it feel good to do the work yourself?
  20. Purolater Pure One PL14610 is what goes on my bike. Best filter out there. $6.88 at advanced auto.
  21. That's because Canadian years are different then 'Merican years!!
  22. You will need the allen wrench to remove the left side bag and a 17mm wrench to remove the drain plug and fill plug.
  23. I use the Purolater PL14610. It now comes covered in gritty paint to aid in installation and removal. I no longer use an oil filter wrench.
