1. Yes, it lowered the rear of the bike about 1/2 inch. You can raise the rear end of the bike with a set of links. You can either buy them from Diamond R for around 80 bux, or make them yourself out of some 1/4" thick flat strap for about 5 bux. I can drag my floorboards and mufflers with no problems. The only warning I will give is that these skinny tires take time to break in. There have been reports that it takes anywhere from 500 - 1000 miles to scrub the tire in.
2. There are only 2 confirmed tires that fit. BFG T/A Radial 155/80R15 Federal SS657 165/80R15 I mounted my BFG up with no problems. Pegscraper reported that a buddy of his had a Federal blow up while it was airing up, but apparently the tire dude walked away from the tire with while it was airing up. I like the profile of the Federal better then the BFG based on looks. Wild Hair is running a BFG on his Voyager and has over 15,000 miles on his tire. My tire has more wear and significantly less miles, but I like to slide the rear tire with the rear brake and do burnouts.
3. I found the least expensive place to be Zanotti, but I never checked with Buckeye Performance. Cost me 118.66 shipped.
4. I know someone has done it because I was checking it out. I can't remember who it was though.
5. oh...raw butt meat is the problem. In that case, you need sheep skin covers and corn starch baby powder. The Sheepskin will allow air to flow under you to the nether regions to ventilate. The Corn Starch baby powder will GREATLY reduce friction to prevent savage monkey butt. http://www.johnsonsbaby.com/images/products/product_46.jpg
6. Get the backrest. Order it tomorrow. No one has taken the backrest off after they put it on.
7. Unfortunately, these are the best 2 pics I have that show the hitch on the bike and the taller backrest.
8. Sorry about not replying earlier, I forgot all about this. Here's the pics. There were 2 backrests offered for the Roadstar. The one they put on the bikes was the short one and did little more then hold the passenger on the bike. It is too short to lean back into. I know my pillion was much happier after I installed the taller backrest. She could lean back and enjoy the ride. 9. I built a HF trailer. I used the tongue that came with it. I removed all but the longest leaf and I used just plain old plywood. I bolted down a Sears cargo hauler on it, but if I had to redo it, I would use 2 aluminum pickup truck boxes instead. I also took all the lights off and replaced them with LED's.
10. You're wrong on 2 accounts. The Constitution guarantees freedom of travel. Driving is not a privilege, it is a right, but, as with most other rights, there are responsibilities. Un-helmeted accidents usually end up in someone scraping gray matter off the highway and a funeral. Those who wear helmets end up in the hospitals with broken bones.
11. Just saw these. These are quiet pipes, but when you want loud, you flip the switch and they turn into straight pipes. Kinda neat. Really pricey though. http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=N41310
12. I would not put any oil additives in a wet clutch system.
13. Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba yah Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba yah Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba yah Oh Lord, kum ba yah
14. I heard something about a turbo and automatic butt wiper.
15. It looks like shipping would run about 50 bux. The hitch sells for 260 on Hitchdoc, I'd like to get half of that. So figger about 180 shipped. It's big and chromed. I'll try and get some pics tomorrow for ya.
16. I have a hitch off my 03 Roadstar Silverado, It's a hitchdoc hitch. and a Dyna 3000 module and the taller passenger bar and a Lindby crash bar and a set of factory seats..... I got a lot of stuff laying around.
17. He originally posted this in another thread, but that thread was about 1st gen tires. This tire has 15,000 miles on it already.
18. http://www.viewpoints.com/images/review/2007/181/23/1183263253-91382_full.jpg I normally use Murphy's tire soap but I had none at the time. I read through that thread and I do not agree with the way those folks are mounting tires. The tire and rim both need to be lubed up good to seat properly. I have used dishsoap before, but it dries too fast for me. I also left my tire outside in the sun. That makes a world of difference in mounting. http://www.alltiresupply.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/MU-2000.jpg
19. I used 40psi. That's all it took. Me thinks the other folks aren't lubing the tires up properly.
20. Yes, buy the 16 instead of the 24. 16 thread per inch, 24 threads per inch.
21. The V4 is very smooth at all RPM's. The biggest complaint about the V4 engine Yamaha builds is the noise that it makes.
22. The 0W30 can cause you some serious clutch problems me thinks. It'll have an abundance of "friction modifiers" that are "energy conserving". Flip the bottle over and look at the Starburst on the back. Almost all sub-40 weight oils are energy conserving. I am using Rotella T 15W40 diesel oil this time around. It's cheap, plentiful and has lots of great reviews. http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:eGRFikNj19GoXM:http://www.dansmc.com/starburst2.jpg http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:iZx_PTpfw1oOpM:http://www.bardahl.ca/images/API.GIF http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:mG3OxhYGsa_wAM:http://www.gas-mileage-enhancers.com/correct%2520oil%2520viscosity%2520is%2520a%2520gas%2520mileage%2520enhancer.gif http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:Cc7edT0s7tkFTM:http://www.dansmc.com/oilright.jpg
23. As of right now, there are only 2 known tires that have been put on a Venture. BFGoodrich T/A Radial - 155/80R15 Federal SS 657 - 165/80R15 The Federal is closest to factory dimensions for a 2nd gen Venture.
24. 30k doesn't sound too bad price wise for a trike.
25. 115 indicated or speedohealed? 115 with a 7% discrepancy is 107.
