  1. I have not mounted a rear tire on the front yet. I had ordered an Avon in the 130 width to try and improve handling. Don't do that, the bike follows road grooves so bad now, but I'm cheap and I will run this tire out until it's gone.
  2. Gasket? You're supposed to use a gasket? I used an anaerobic gasket maker (Loctite 518). If it drips into the oil, it stays a liquid. No worries unlike the silicone crap. http://www.thesaabsite.com/shop/catimages/Loctite-518.jpg
  3. I see no problems with running a rear tire on the front.
  4. It's the tires if it only howls through the turns. The tread is starting to cup. Nothing dangerous or anything to be worried about.
  5. You'll be hard pressed to find a car tire in the proper size for the front.
  6. Ride at your own pace. If they're your friends, they'll wait at the next stop sign.
  7. Do it at 100 mph with your front end in the air, they'll move out of your way!!!
  8. Purolator Pure One PL14610 is what I use

    Just a biker...

  10. nah, you're cruiser tire knowledge is still about par with today's technologies. The tires today aren't much better then they were 30 years ago for "cruiser" styled bikes. For a 1st gen, the Dunlop Elite 3's are a good tire. Get em at either Sharp's or David Brown's. Use http://www.swmototires.com to get your best price. Print the price out off the website and take it to the parts counter. They will either meet the price or get close enough to make it worth your time to buy them locally. I believe Sharps charges 40 bux a tire to mount it if you buy it from them, but I could be mistaken. Maybe TxtoSturgis could chime in because he has had them mount one up with in the last couple of months.
  11. Stay with the stock size in front. I went to the 130 tire and I don't like it, but Im cheap and I'll wear it out before I replace it.
  12. IdleAire is good for the shops too because when they shut the trucks down, they keep using battery juice for the interior lights and radio and kill the batteries. Then they get to come out and overcharge for a jumpstart or new batteries!!!
  13. Sorry, no included headsets or luggage liners included. And yeah, most dealers don't sell bikes, they put em out and let people buy em, might as well let WalMart start selling them.
  14. Ive ran Maxis tires on my ole XJ1100, they ran good, but it is a light bike. I know a fella who ran the Maxis on his RoadKing and it wore out rather quickly. Both of these were 130/90-16 tires though.

  16. Aftermarket equipment should have the fuse as close to the battery as possible in case the wire coming off the battery should become shorted to ground. If the fuse is next to the horn in the fairing and the wire were to short, then that entire wire will become an 8 foot long heating coil and most likely melt every wire and plastic piece it comes in contact with, not to mention the battery may overheat and either leak or possibly even explode.
  17. I would just cut the roof off and take the doors off to make it a convertible.
  18. I really hope your kidding after your response on the Florida law thread.
  19. OK, so now that they have these ridiculous fines, how many bikes are going to run instead of pulling over when they get lit up from behind. These new laws are stupid and illegal. Do cagers have to pay the same fines if their license plate is mounted sideways? Do cagers have to pay a fine that great when they run somebody over because they were worried about their phone/makeup/that little rat in bag they call a dog/kids/DVD player? There are already laws on the books against wheelies, speeding and improperly mounted license plates and they were the same for cagers and bikes, but instead of enforcing those, we'll put more laws on the books that unfairly target motorcycles. Most of the squids out there riding like that don't have insurance or a license so revoking their license isn't going to bother them, but the 1000 dollar 1st offense fine is going to make them run. Bunch of old fogeys.
  20. OR call someplace 1500 miles ahead and have them order you a tire and about the 1500 mile mark, stop at said place and have them change the tire. Otherwise, change it now. It's almost always cheaper to change it on your terms instead of begging a place to do it.
  21. Sounds about right if it's a castle nut and has a cotter pin to go through as well.
  22. Wow. You changed out that tire? Ive put on used tires that had less tread then that!!!
  23. I have a clearview with the vent. I likes it, I likes it alot. I bought mine off ebay. It's a blem. There's a tiny, tiny little air bubble in the shield. For the 50 bux I saved, I can live with it.
  24. I got the one with 12 inch wheels. I figgered that if I ever needed to buy 1, 12 inch is easier to find, but now that I've seen these tires, I dont think it's necessary. These tires are so hard, that you could run them flat and almost not notice it. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=90153
