If you're running it while the bike is running, you should be fine. If you're running it with the bike off, I guess it depends on the condition of the battery. My heated liner draws 7 amps with no ill effects.

Clutch upgade problems??
flb_78 replied to audiolver2's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Does the bike jump when you put it in gear? If so, it sounds like the clutch was reassembled incorrectly. -
I guess no one ever told the mom the "Ugly Duckling" story. Now I wonder how deformed her ears will be as she grows into them.

Where the HE$$ does the seat nuts go.
flb_78 replied to Eddie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I used to do that until I found my seat halfway across a parking lot on a windy day. Now I keep my nuts close and tight. -
If you own a torque wrench, you may just want to try to retorque the lugs yourself first. Loosen the nuts 1/2 turn with the car on the ground, raise the wheel in the air, have someone step on the the brake and retorque the nuts to 75lb/ft for alloy wheels, 100lb/ft for steel wheels. If that doesn't improve it, you'll probably need new rotors and I agree with Hulign, new rotors are the way to go usually for a GM front wheel drive car. I can do a front brake job on the wife's Chevy Corsica in under an hour with hand tools. Autozone has your rotors for $43 each. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/Duralast-Brake-Rotor-Front/2005-Pontiac-Grand-Prix/_/N-jmqqyZ8knrq?counter=0&itemIdentifier=443809_172993_2708_ Oreilly's has rotors for $43 each with 1 year warranty and $82 each for lifetime.

Sounds like the pinion bearing is noisy. You'll probably have to pull the final drive and check for slop in the pinion shaft/cup thingamajigger.

gotta love humidity. Install a dehumidifier in the garage.

Harley pipes question ?
flb_78 replied to sconie's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
What year is your RSTD? If it's an 05 or later, then yes, they'll work with a set of brackets that you can easily fabricate. Any mufflers off a Touring framed Harley should work. Road King, Electra Glide, Road Glide. -
On top of the mirrors or both hand folded together on my gut while Im leaned back against the back rest.

The K&N's provide nothing for the RSV. Your air filters were clogged up.

is it carb'd or fuel injected? Sounds like a fuel problem.

MPH loss on slight grade

Quit wasting your money on "premium" fuel. The regular burns better. Premium can actually cause carbon buildup on the pistons. -
$150 is a bit steep for an injector cleaning. All they'll do is pull the fuse or relay for the fuel pump and hook up a bottle of cleaner to the pressure test port on the fuel rail. I would first remove the fan and drive it with the A/C off. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwO1KeyJ460]YouTube - 2003 FORD RANGER EDGE 3.0L V6 NOISY FAN CLUTCH[/ame]

My old Buick used R12. When it finally leaked down, I drew a vacuum on it and put about 4oz of propane in the system and it worked far better then any freon. 4oz of propane vs. 2lbs of refrigerant.

am I getting ripped off ?

Gummed up carbs aren't a warranty issue. It's a lack of maintenance or a improper storage issue. -
I don't have a clutch cover gasket. When I replaced my clutch, I used an anaerobic gasket maker from LocTite.

no need for a kickstand, just lay it over on the saddlebag

I have a pair of Polk DB401's. They have 4 mounting tabs and mount up pretty solid. Ive had them 3 plus years and they've been wet a lot and still work good. You should also install a set of speaker baffles while you're replacing them and have the fairing apart. http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/products/2007/696/h696B050311-fp.jpg

I haven't seen any "good" replacement LED bulbs for 1156 or 1157. They'll light up, but Ive never seen one that would light up the housing properly. It's always just a bright dot the size of a quarter in the middle of the housing.
