Yup, fork oil is nothing more than hydraulic oil. When I resealed my forks, I searched several places and read that a lot of folks just use plain old ATF fluid in there forks and were very happy with the ride quality. I can't complain about it in my forks.

Every one that I listed is free and I use them. There are paid versions which are supposed to be better, but the free versions work fine for me.

General Questions
flb_78 replied to Mountaineer47's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
What? You need a source to back that up. I have never heard of a tire manufacturer who made special, new bike only tires. -
Those look like burnt wires, not corroded. It also looks like it's a connector to a battery tender or maybe an aux connection for heated clothes.

Suzuki Burgman 650. Yeah, it's a giant scooter, but it'll run 90mph all day and still get 45mpg. Very low maintenance, lightweight, easy to ride.

You had better know how to do all of your own maintenance because most dealers won't touch either one of those bikes because of their age.

Hagon vs Works Rear Shock
flb_78 replied to ablumny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The Works shock is different. The clevis or yoke on the Works is much thicker. The spring is probably from the same manufacturer, most likely Eibach. -

Stock Road King mufflers are not any louder than the Yamaha muffs. The tone is deeper, thus sounding louder. The Bub's are considerably louder.

Maybe those tools are being made out of some kind of disintegrating metal and it just turns to dust after a set amount of time so that you have to buy another one.

Yeah, that's the truth. The Government is making everything better...

What brand and octane rating of gasoline do you normally use? Any way to obtain some pictures of the engine while it's apart?

Why would you need a valve job already? Maybe a valve adjustment, which isn't near as involved.

You'll probably also want to change out the start and run capacitors for the motor while it's apart. I just installed a new motor and capacitors in mine about 2 months ago.
