Passenger highway pegs
flb_78 replied to myminpins's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
And the attached pictures showed them on the front floorboards. I thought the passenger part was about the armrests that were mentioned later. -

oh... You're mounting them on the passenger floorboards? yeah, they'll be fine on the passenger boards. -

You're braver than me. The lean angle on the bike is severely compromised now and I'd be afraid that if those were dragging the ground that it might catch a crack or groove in the road while going around a corner. -
I want to say that somewhere here on the site, someone found a replacement knob that fits from a hardware store like Lowe's or something like that...

Great news! Glad to hear it! -
Yeah, the 3157 is a wedge base. I use the 1157NA bulbs and I always replace them in pairs.

That's great news that he's awake and responsive already! -
actually, somewhere between 40-60,000 miles, the clutch will probably start slipping, not from worn clutch plates, but from a weakened clutch spring.

RSTC passenger comfort question.
flb_78 replied to muaymendez1's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Can you take a picture of the passenger peg setup for me? Im wondering if it's the same as the Roadstars. I was able to flip my mounts over to lower the pegs and move them forward. -
You could just take the factory jack out of your car or pickup. It's fairly lightweight and doesn't have any hydraulic oil to leak out. Or maybe find a scissor jack from a salvage yard or maybe even an auto parts store.

I don't think I would even notice a flat tire on my Harbor Freight trailer as tough as the sidewalls are on it.

What NGK part number are you using for plugs? Ive never had a problem with standard NGK plugs before. I've read problems with the iridium plugs before though.
-
No, the trunk is kind of a pain to remove and install because of the wiring. I'd rather have a RSTD with an aftermarket fairing and a real radio than the RSV if I had it to do over again. The OEM radio leaves much to be desired.

RSTD Problem

+1 on sticky kickstand switch. -
almost, the RSTD has the bags, no fairing, no trunk, no radio, different seats.

Yup, I have the HH pads on the rear of my RSV and it's nice not having to change them out with every tire change. I can make it 2 tire changes now on a set of rear pads. They are a little noisier, but they're also semi metallic on a steel disc. metal on metal.

Any tank with a vent has a chance of this happening. The vent for the RSV is under the plastic cover around the fuel cap. It's easy enough to remove the cover to access the hose. Remove the hose from the tank and make sure that air can flow through it.

Need a Yamaha Rear axel Gear case assembly

Joe, RSTDdog is correct, but they parts fiche looks exactly the same as the part number you posted. I don't know if there actually is a difference, but the numbers did changed in 2008. I still think that the final drive off a XVS1100 would be compatible. The final drives off a FJR, Venture or Vmax would not work because of the design of the pinion. -
That's one reason why I don't like these new key fob things instead of a real key. And just earlier this week, it has been discovered that an Android phone can be used to unlock and start a car without the owner's permission. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/driveon/post/2011/08/hackers-show-you-could-steal-a-subaru-with-your-smart-phone-black-hat-unlock-start/1

Ok, I see what's going on now. The end of the pinion is worn out. You cannot replace the pinion by itself. Cheap fix and perfectly acceptable, weld the splined coupler onto the worn out pinion. Do not weld the driveshaft to the coupler, just the pinion. Alternative fix, final drive off a XVS1100 looks identical. Buy a used setup off ebay for more than $200. http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=xvs+final+drive&_sacat=See-All-Categories -
Her vent hose is plugged up. It happened to the boss lady's motorcycle earlier this year. It doesn't take much vacuum at all to collapse a tank. If she has full coverage, she'll only have to pay the deductible for a new tank. http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58705&highlight=tank

So you're in need of an entire final drive for a 650 Star?
