Leaving in the morning. Looks like my route will be I-94 to I -294 to I-90 all the way to 14 (Cody). Maybe a few side trips between Wi and Wy. We'll be taking our time once we get on 90 heading west. Anyone along that route give a shout out. Larry

Be aware of your debit / credit cards while traveling
Carbon_One replied to Lone Eagle's topic in Watering Hole
We are always getting those credit card offers in the mails and the other day the wife suggested we should have applied for one to only use on our trip out west. Then after getting home pay it off and close the account. Unfortuneately she/we didn't think of that soon enough to be able to put that plan into action before our departure time. The idea of using credit over debit is a good one too and will end up with the same results as a debit providing you pay off the charges on the 1st billing. As Dick noted you build up credits if you card account provides that feature. Larry -
Yea what they said. Give it all ya got & then some. We'll talk to the man upstairs for ya. Prove the Docs wrong . Good luck to you. Larry

Seeing as I'm caging & trailering to Cody I can bring along some of my products besides what I intend for the raffle. Items would be horn brackets & wiring harnesses, lift adapters- standard & freestanding, crash bar braces, & 1 arm rest set. Prices will be discounted to reflect both savings in shipping and a cash discount for all items. I'll be limited to 4 each of the harnesses and brackets, crash bar braces, adapters, & 1 arm rest set due to what I have available and have room to haul with me. Anyone interested let me know either here of in a pm. We're leaving Tuesday so I have to know by tomorrow evening of any requests. Thanks, Larry

I'll have a older Dell with me as well. Just a basic unit is all thou. Used mainly to track e-mails and VRO posts. Larry PS: Vic the hotel itself may have a desktop in their lobby as well. Most places do have one available for their guests now, along with printers if needed.

See ya when you get here Don. My experince suggests the Port Huron/Sarnia crossing is a bit quicker too. There's also the ferries by Alognac and Marine City to cross at. Larry

Congrats to both of you Gary & Mary. Wishing you a wonderfull day and many happy years to come. Larry & Joyce

flasher control
Carbon_One replied to Carbon_One's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
UPDATE: Today I realized that the turn signals are indeed self cancelling after all. I don't know if they stay on longer or I was impatient on them going off. Whatever now that I know they'll cancel I'll try to see if the flash duration has changed or not next. Larry- 5 replies

Vmax wheel on a 1st Gen?
Carbon_One replied to tvking63's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You're right cause after thinking this thru I realize air will be trapped if the bleeder is lower than any part of the calipers piston. Larry -

You could be right about that trapped air. Didn't think it thru far enough I guess. Only one way to find out. Larry -

Gary a simple solution for the bleeder screw would be to replace it with a speed bleeder. Wouldn't matter then what position it points then. Larry -

We won't get outta Dodge till midmorning Tuesday. Joyce has a morning Dentist appointment she can't miss. As soon as she's done we'll be on the road. taking I-94 to Chicago and from there who knows. Haven't really decided yet on the route once past Chicago. Larry

Well done. Now get out there and get some miles on it and report back on how much you enjoy it. Larry

Now that there is some serious determination Gary. We'll see ya at Cody Saturday sometime. Larry

Good luck John. Hope you get back sooner then later. larry

Make sure the door is of sufficiant height to clear your windshield. A V-nosed trailer 8ft long would get your bike inside OK if you're wanting to save length & weight too. Larry

I've seen a bunch of rest stops closed for construction going thru Ohio last year but so far on my trips this year they've been open. Seeing as we'll be using I-94 heading to Cody, Wy and back a goodly portion of our trip I'm interested in if they'll still be closed and in what states. For the most part I've found rests stops in pretty good conditions. The service centers with fuel and food areas are nice thou. Larry

Yep what they all said above. Raked trees for easier smoother steering. Auxiliary fuel tank is good whether you like stopping sooner or not. Riding with others will allow you to stop when they do and them not when you have to. Besides on a trip you can space your fuel/break stops better too. Milage varies a lot depending on speeds being ridden and whether you tow a trailer. I've gotten everything between 22 mpg towing at 75mph to low 30's depending on speeds & loads. Thus another good reason for extra fuel capicity. I've got a 3 1/5 gal tank and it does make a world of difference having it on board. I too use a rear tire up front and mounted in the correct rotation. My reasons were for the tire to shed water better and being that the rear brakes do 90% of the stopping now the thread wrapping isn't as critical in my mind. Currently I have 15 k on a rear Dunlop and still lots of thread left, no cupping yet either. Milages will differ depending on the areas you will ride. I'm pretty much in flat land country here so aren't getting into twisties too much. Once you get the trike and have become one with it you be wondering why it took so long to decide to convert. Doesn't take much time either to become proficent riding them. Larry

In life it seems to be always either time or money or both that gets in ones way of enjoying things of importance to us. Like being with our friends. Larry
