Great idea and perhaps we / someone could come up with a official looking letter of recognition for the dealership in question. Then send it to them on behalf of the site for it's service to our members. Larry

:clap2: Yeppers to all that and least we forget the Boss who without this site nothing like any of this would happen. Oh sure there's a couple outer Yammi & Venture sites but none come close to being as good as we have it here. Thanks to all who either get involved with the meets, rallys, etc & those who go to them. Safe travels all, Larry

Hagon vs Works Rear Shock
Carbon_One replied to ablumny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Shortly before making the decision of triking my bike the stock stock was doing it's best to be a Hardly imitator. While I still had some warranty time left on the bike I made the decision to go with a Works shock. Talked to the reps there and made the call to go with a beefed up model due to the extra weight of the trike on back. Long story short they increased the load rate over their stock Venture model up 400 lbs. I may not of needed to go that high since I also have adjustable air bags between the body and framework but I also know if for any reason I totally loose air in the air support system that shock will handle the load. To date a bit over 28000 miles since the conversion with no problems whatever with the Works shock. I also don't think it cost any more than the regular price to order a beefed up unit either. Being over 3 years since doing this the memory box ain't going that far into details. Larry -
You got that right. I know for sure I'll get back there again and hopefully tour a lot more on 3 wheels instead of 4. Maybe not next year but for sure within the near future. Some of the earlier pics were taken when we hooked up with Gary (99Silver) & Leslie around Mt. Rushmore, Custer's Park, Needle's Highway, Crazy Horse area Larry

Currently Don's having some issues with the classified section. Check here -- http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=62460 As to my previous ads, I still offer all the items that were listed thou not showing at the moment. Those being lift adapters, horn brackets & wiring harnesses, & crash bar braces. They'll all be back once Don chases those bugs away. Either send me a pm or contact me thru my e-mail at lskeeks@wowway.com for info on ordering anything. Thanks, Larry

To start off here I want to thank Condor & Lone Eagle & whomever their helpers were for a great International Rally this year. It wasn't only a great location chosen but a well run one from start to finish. Least ways it sure looked like it but I'm sure they'll say otherwise. :clap2:Good job guys. Well it looks like we were the last to arrive back home. Got in late afternoon yesterday in fact. It was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones as is the case in most of these rallies & M&E's we go to. Unfortunately for me I didn't get to ride much or hang out with everyone as much as I would of liked to. That due to me pulling a muscle in my back while en route to Cody. Bad enough to require a side trip to the ER in Sioux Falls for medicial relief. I did manage to get in a couple day rides, one to Cooke City vie the Chief Joseph highway and another from West Yellowstone to the south entrance of Yellowstone & back (after the rally was over), besides a a couple short rides in town during the rally. Going back again is going to be on my bucket list as thats such a great part of country to ride a bike in. I'll post up what few pics I managed to take later. Lots to do here to get caught up after being gone 2 1/2 weeks. Stacks of mail (hopefully mostly junk mail), yard work, etc Larry

Annie we were in Sturgis for the day today. You'll have lots of fun for sure. Enjoy but rest that leg good too. Larry

Had a chance to stop in town for the day on our way home. I was impressed about all the goings on and at least 1/3rd of the vendors were still setting up. Gonna have to add this affair to my bucket list next year. Have fun guys , Larry

Like you I wasn't too fond of the gaps between the bikes framing and the hits framing. What I did was cut sheet metal to follow the curved part on the bike and attached that to the angled bar that runs up to the upper rear frame of the kit, I welded it in place on that angled bar, This blocks out the drive shaft / swing arm parts. Did that on both sides. The next step was doing the same form the area behind the flat support plates of the kit. The sheet metal was welded to the back side of thr plate. It comes up on an angle then bent to a more level spot. I think I left about a 1/4" gap between the support plate sheetmetal and the bikes fender & strut. I'll see about getting pics later. Both side were done up the same with the right side also having the air valve for the air bags there as well. Larry On another note when I cut out the fender and frame requirements for the front of the body I kept a 1/4" gap following the fenders outline. Makes a tight neat fit but for sure more work getting it right.

Going to tour the Black Hills area Friday and maybe Saturday too. then on to Cody either Sat or Sun depending on how long we stay at Rapid City. Maybe we'll hook up for that Friday ride. I'll check here tomorrow to see where everyones at. Larry

On my auxiliary tank set up I added an inline fuel filter, electric fuel pump starting at the tank and then under the seat added a "Y" connector to the line going to the carbs. Also I installed a relay so that when I have the auxilary tank on the power is killed for the main tank. Flip that switch off and power is applies to the main. Killing power to the main fuel pump will keep you from feeding the carbs with both tanks. And no back filling either of them. What I like to do is run the fuel completely out of the auxilary tank and then switch to the main. When the auxilary tank is on the fuel gauge will read whatever is in the main tank. Larry

Thanks for the info guys. Currently we're spending the night at Madison, Wi. Going to sort out the routes from here in a bit. Larry Took 355 instead of 294 today. Illinois sure likes to collect their tolls!

Thanks for the heads up there. Gonna check it out. Not much of a detour either. Maybe hit it by way of 14 to 71 and westward ho from there. What 14 like? Larry
