I'd consider that on the heavy side for behind a motocycle. Especialy weighing that much empty. Most mc trailers weight in between 150lbs to about 200lbs give or take a few. Price don't seem bad especialy if you can get it at your offering point. Ask the seller if you could take it for a tow demo behind the bike. You'll get a very good idea then if this is for you or not. Larry

Sorry to hear of your loss. It's not often anymore to spend so many years with your soul mate. Peace to you and her now that she's no longer suffering. Larry -

Deffineately you're going to have to upgrade pilots and main jets and maybe even change needle height. Do the jets first and go from there. Larry

Well I know it weren't me. My back was wacked up so didn't manage any group rides. Larry

Depends on whether you intend to keep the bike for yourself or resell it. If keeping the bike pick the one you really like. Haven't looked at resell prices for either bike so imo that's a toss up. If you keep one definately test ride them both. Larry

Kat on the Volusia you will benifit with both performance & gas mileage by changing out both the pilot & main jets due to the larger air flow of the K&N filters. Later this weekend I'll send a detailed descricption of the jets you need from what I've done on those bikes in the past. Can Mike take off the carb and change the jets himself? Or do you think it may be beyound his abilities? Larry

Yep after doing a few jobs like this it becomes much much easier then the 1st time around. Even then some jobs still require the patience of a saint. Larry

You only need to replace the rubber gaskets. RC, I would do what Don/Freebird suggests if you don't intend to do anything yourself or better yet see if there's anyone close by you who knows how to do the job. You could save some $$ and gain new riding friends. Larry

I don't think disabling the AIS will improve gas mieage. On my bike I tried rejeting the carbs by going up one number for both mains and pilots. Gas milage suffered till I put the mains back to stock. I did leave the larger #17.5 pilots over the #15's in place and get a better low end off idle start. Plus I rarely need to choke the carbs either. Also before the rejet I'd get an occasional back fire in the mufflers on decellerating. Since going to the larger pilots that don't happen anymore. I'm running with K&N air filters & a 6" shortened set of stock mufflers. The rest of the bike is stock including the AIS system. Larry

That's almost as bad as a bike not starting cause someone left the kill switch on. :rotf:

Not if you're mechanicly inclined but it does help if you have someone helping you that's done them before. It's still a good sized job due to taking stuff off and putting it all back on afterwards. You can do a check of the valves without the shim kit or tool, but if you find any off you either put it back together till you get the stuff needed or wait till you do get the tools & shims. Larry
