Looks like you've gotten it planned out well so far. What do you have in mind for a hinge system? Gas struts to support the upper body or whatever? Larry

Rigid Industries LED..anyone using these?
Carbon_One replied to reddevilmedic's topic in Watering Hole
Nice lights but a bit pricey too. They would look good on the 1st gens being mostly square. -
I'm sure I speak for many of us in that you'll be missed Rick. Its good you are back to work too. Larry

Best switch for the HID light
Carbon_One replied to 1BigDog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Ruffy I'm sending it out after the post office opens this morning. And am tossing in a mini toggle switch I have here on hand as well. djh3 the stainless stock I use is .004 thick. The size of the bracket is 1" wide and 3" long with a bend at 3/4" from the square end. The one I'm using with the rocker and LED light is slightly longer. The LED is from RadioShack part # 276 - 0085. This paticular LED light matches the bikes green lights well, is bright enough to be seen in daylight yet not so bright its blinding at night. It's actually less bright than the cruise control light, netural, or turn signal lights. My set up with this switch and indicator light uses the switch as a relay ground when turned on. So the (-) negative end of the led attaches to the relay side of the switch and the (+) positive side I ran a line to the fairing connecting to a key on power source. Hope this helps, Larry- 27 replies

Best switch for the HID light
Carbon_One replied to 1BigDog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Ruffy I've made a few of these mounts for the trike gas tank conversions I build. And used a rubber covered rocker switch along with a LED light to indicate when the fuel pump was on. I also have one made with just a hole for a mini toggle switch I'm not using I'll give to you if you want it. Made of stainless steel and sandwiched by the handlebar switch box Larry- 27 replies

Passenger Grip?
Carbon_One replied to oldbutnewrider's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
RSTDdog is right here. I had forgotten Joe used the RSV luggage rack to mount his trunk. Larry -
It's all really quite simple IMO. As either a seller or buyer you need to communicate both ways so that both sides know what's going on. If there's a problem then it needs addressing ASP letting the other person know whats what. Like Squeeze & Eck says there may well be a time you get burnt but those times are the exception rather than the rule. In that case you just chalk it up and move along. I guess I've been lucky thus far as I haven't had any bad dealings with the members here or at other sites I frequent. At least that's been my experience so far. Take the high road & treat people like you would want them to treat you and it'll work out in the end. Larry

Yep I have one of the Wally world Slime kits I think it is. Haven't used it on my bike yet but did air up a couple low tires for others with it. Seemed to do the job OK and din't take long pumping air either. Larry

Did you check to see if Pinwall Cycle has one? Or a complete switch housing? Look for his ad on the home page. Larry

Another new way to mount stuff on a 1st gen handlebar.
Carbon_One replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Watering Hole
Nice innovation done there Mike. Larry -
I carry a plug kit and air compressor on the bike. If I pick up a nail I'll do the repair on the spot. That'll either be permanent or at the least a temp till I can get to a shop for a new tire if needed. Larry

Passenger Grip?

Joe ( star4772 ) added a set to his RSTD, but also added a Wing trunk. Here's his post -- http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=69186&highlight=trunk Larry -
Relay for driving lights
Carbon_One replied to Billkroeger's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Another possibility is to wire the relay into the oil pressure system. Lights will be off until the engine is running under pressure. On my bike I simply added in a reservoir mounted 3 gang switch box and manually turn on/off the lights as needed. I have a LED set of lights mounted on the riser clamps that come on when those lights are in use so at a glance I know if I forgot to turn them on or not. Larry -
