Maybe there was some lube inside the tire after mounting it and the beads sort of clumped together with it.. Another thought would be there was too much beads added for the tire to balance. I tried the beads in the rear tires of the trike using the recommended amount, forgeting just how much at this time, but had a severe imbalance at 70 +. I kept thinking I had a u-joint bad or driveshaft out of balance. Finally I broke the tires down and removed the beads. Had them high speed balanced and all was good after that. I also added the beads to the front tire and to date no problems whatever there. Just my experince thus far. Larry

I just took out the foam Rick used and added in a higher density foam. I purchased a excerise matt from K-Mart. It's about 1/2" thick and gray in color. One side is smooth , the other side had small ridges. The reason I replaced Rick's foam was that for me it was too soft and felt that I was bottoming out in short time and then sitting the same as the stock seat. This has solved that problem for me now. Added it to the pillon for the Mrs. as well. Larry

Yep that is a fact for sure. Was already picking his brain a bit when we were going over the bike before loading it on the trailer. Larry

Today I picked up DenDen's 83 Standard. Some folks here know how well he took care of this bike. He wanted to part ways with the bike since he no longer rides so he made me a deal I couldn't refuse. There's some work to be done of course since it hasn't been on the road in about 4 years. maybe more, but that bike is sure in very good shape for a 29 year old. There's no broken plastic except for one tab on a side panel which should be easy to fix since the tab is there. Mechanically I'll need to fix a water leak somewhere below the radiator, rebuild the forks, & either rebuild the rear master cylinder or replace it, & replace a 8 year old battery. As far as I know at this point those are the things needing attention. Got a few extra parts he tossed in as well. I don't expect to put it on the road till spring so during the next few months & winter I'll be going over this bike bringing the old girl back to pristine condition once again. Larry

How much vacuum for cruise pump?
Carbon_One replied to Scott_Nelson's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yep that was a good question all right. At one time I thought I had a bad pump too but after taking up the slack in the cruise cable and getting the adjustment right it seems to be working as it should now. Larry -
Another good reason for keeping it active is you'll be saving your iginition switch. I always kill the engine with the kill switch rather than just turning off the key. It saves the switch by reducing arcing of the switch contacts. I also turn off the driving lights and headlight prior to turning off the key switch. Just my Larry

Sorry to hear of your loss Jack. At the least you know she no longer is suffering and that you two shared all of those years together. Prayers for you and family. Larry -
Good post and thanks for sharing. Yep we can never take for granted what others may do, so as you show here we must ever be vigilant when riding. Glad to hear your outcome was a good one after all. Larry BTW: Happy B-day

Prayer request
Carbon_One replied to Yammer Dan's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Passing good thoughts and a prayer for her and family Dan. Hope she beats this soon too now that the Docs know what she has. Larry -
I think it's safe to say we've all had those moments at one time or other. I know that while I've had my share of them I can't (won't ) say specifically what they were now. Larry

Would love to go to a M&E here in Michigan but the month of July is a deal breaker for me. With us going to the International and possibly extending our vacation out that way there's no way we can make it in this month. Now move the date into August and I'm sure it'd be a go. Larry

Now you can ride up front for a change. Larry

Handle bar weights
Carbon_One replied to chubbyone's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Forgot to mention that I have the Flanders bars so that may be the difference in my experince over the others here. Them being longer & wider that is than the stock bars. Larry -

I've got stock brackets you can have if you can find the plastic deflectors. Let me know. Larry -
Handle bar weights

I haven't had them on my bike in 5 years due to using Kuryakyn ISO grips and now a set of Avon grips. What little extra vibration there is is negligible IMO. Larry -
Don just to let you know you were not the only one having a bad day yesterday. In short time it'll get better. I Hope. Larry
