1984 XVZ12TD Parts List
Carbon_One replied to Freebird's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'm sure I may be getting some use outta the file since the 83's are pretty much the same. Thanks for posting it, Larry -
Yea you've a few of those moments thinking just what the He** did I get myself into with this trike. Rest assured that in due time you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.LOL Take your time learning the handling characteristics and you'll be fine. Enjoy the ride on 3. Larry

When I get back from the International rally I'll redo the one I have on hand and then will make all others the same afterward so they'll be able to be used on those with or without the running boards. I'll drop you a pm when I get it done. Larry
-
Yes you can use the lift adapter with running boards. I have one built and boxed now. This one you will need to remove the center support bar on the running board. A couple 1/4" bolts and a "U" clamp is all that's needed to remove that support bar per side. Future adapters will have a cross bar on the lift adapter moved further rearward so that this running board support won't need moving. If you want this one I have on hand you'll need to order today. Otherwise it'll be 2 weeks before I can ship one out. Larry

Maybe he had blanks??? Either way those guys couldn't get away fast enough. Hope they're carrying some of that lead too. Larry

OK guys to clarify the spacer or lack of one the Stebel horns come with a black plastic spacer as seen in the pics Mike G posted. If you're putting on a Wolo horn then they don't add that plastic spacer so then you would need to put something there to take up the difference or it would indeed hit the pipes. The bolt provided with a Stebel would be too long if I extended the bracket to accommodate it without that spacer so that would need either to be cut shorter or replaced with one the appropriate size. I will look into changing the length of the bracket on the next batch I make so that it wouldn't need any spacer at all. I still have about dozen and half on hand so will sell those 1st before converting to any new sizes. Larry

I'm thinking we may go thru that northern country to get to NY as well. There's about a 50 mile difference between taking the northern route opposed to the southern one. What can we expect other then towns by taking the Highway 3 along the coast opposed to the freeways? We'll leave home either Friday or Saturday due to better weather plus maybe enjoy some of the area before everyone arrives. Larry

That could work as I already use CRBN1 for the trike Or maybe CRBN2

Walter was thinking ahead for sure. LOL Larry

Sorry Brad but one Squid around here is more than enough. So your plate handle is safe. Larry

Current temp is 104* according to my eletric temp gauge outside my garage. Inside it's 99*. Weather.com says 101* for this area. Next to nothing is getting done today with most of it spent inside with the ac running. I did build a new shelf along one wall in the garage for the extra goodies I'll pick up eventually from Denny for the 83. Probably do that when we get back from the NY rally. At least temps shopuld be coming down some later in the week. Sure hope so cause temps like these are rough trying to enjoying any riding. Larry

Another of the great preformers gone from us but they still live on in our hearts and their recorded music. Rest in Peace, Ms. Kitty Larry

Totally agree with you here Rick. I do think seat shape is the #1 concern as well as addressing any pressure points the rider is experiencing. Seats are such a subjective matter , much like oil & tires , that what works for one may not be for the next guy. I think you do do a good job on seat shaping and maybe when your next customer requests seat changes a little background info from them would be in order. Try to see just what they think they are looking for in a seat, softer, firmer, less pushing forward , etc. Even then you'll still be limited by the covers shape to some degree short of a total recovering. Like you say on correcting or redoing a seat the shipping both ways is a tough pill to swallow. You can take pride in knowing that the majority of the owners who have had you redo their seats have be totally happy. Larry

Looking at purchasing a new royal star venture
Carbon_One replied to Cowboy67's topic in Watering Hole
Cowboy I think you'll love the RSV what with your experiences on the Wings & Harley. Plenty of power, really good seats compared to most bikes, plenty of room for you and the Mrs. and still have that cruiser look. Lots of storage room in the trunk and bags for those trips you like to take too. With the V-4 engine it runs almost as smooth as the Wings do at all speeds and rpms. The only real drawbacks are the fact that Yamaha has neglected to upgrade the bike over the years. ABS brakes, FI, better audios would be nice improvments to have. On the other side of the coin you can find parts very easly not that these bikes need much. It's not uncommon to see them with 100k on the odometer and more and still going strong. Another good plus is Yamaha's warranty at 5yrs and unlimited mileage. And do stick around here regrdless of brand you do decide on. Great bunch of people here. Larry -
Yea one of the great stories. LMAO everytime I read this one.:rotf: Larry
-
Good for you solving your seating issue. So is the seat now thicker with more support or softer/firmer than stock seat was? Larry
-
Boy after doing some reading and really looking at all the info on these 1st gens I can see it's going to take a while to wad thru and soak up all the info on these bikes. Good thing we have all of the 1st gens here to bail me out when needed. Oh yea when I do finally get it road worthy I thought of putting on antique or collector plates. But Michigan is too restrictive in when you can drive with those plates so I need to come up with a cool 5 letter /number personal plate name. Larry

I'm with Snaggletooth here. My son has python of some sort and I've handle it but realy prefer them to be left alone. Personally I don't think anyone except certified game keepers should be allowed to own a poisious snake. Same goes for lions, tigers, bears, wolves, or any other poential man killers. Just my here. Ya have good friends if they do that for you. Larry

I'd say $125 plus shipping. And it'll be a bolt on operation but you will have to drill a couple holes in the frame above the differential. Larry
