Yep they're just north of the border near Vancouver I think. Somewhere not far from there anyhow. If I ever get up that way I intend to stop in at the factory and say Hi to Darlene and the crew there. Larry

Maybe add a side car to one of those relics Yammer. Ragtop just posted a link to one maybe not too far from you. Larry

You faired a lot better than a friend of mine did hitting a turkey. He hit a full grown big one and ended up going down on his Suzuki. He had all his gear on so other than a few bruises he was OK . Bike was another story but was repairable so the end result was ok. Larry

Told Jay to have Jeanie put the shaft in this am. His response was he did that last night and bike still not running . He's working on it again now thou so he should soon say he's got that baby back in. Larry

Nope that won't include any rake kits. You're looking at $8-900 more for that. Some folks don't rake their bikes but anyone who has says that it is the way to go just for the easier steering. The kits come pretty much complete except for tires & wheels, rake changes, and any paint to match the bike. You'll get the frame, an axle, air bags, lights, speedo healer converter, & of course the body. You could add on options such as a hitch, 5 stud axles and a choice of gear ratios . Normal axle ratio is 3:42 with 3:73 as an alternate. I strongly suggest the 3:73 ratio if anyone plans on towing a trailer. Larry

Lewis Tri-Wing has been making their tike conversions for the 1st gens a long time. I know they'bve been in business more than 20 years. While Hannigan is the 2nd gen favorite for a lot of folks here Tri-Wing has been used by some of us, myself included, mainly to save a handfull of $$$$. If you're handy with a wrench and take your time attending to details you can build up a nice head turner. Good luck on your decision Larry

nothing here either. Larry

Well guys thanks for all the info here. Considering the cost of the adapter, the age of the bike and its milage I'm going to side with Tim on this one. I can't justify the cost of the adapter even if you do save on the filters themselves. After 29 years and 76+k the bike still runs great so this is one of those "if it ain't broke don't fix it" things in my book. Larry

looking for a trike kit for my 2003 venture
Carbon_One replied to butch882's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
Yep two choices is all we get for these bikes. Hannigan & Tri-Wing. It would be interesting thou if any of the other trike companies will or would be willing to add their name to to the pot. If Solodadof2's friends have access to other brand trikes perhaps one could be adapted to the Venture without much hassle. Larry -
My question is what are the advantages of converting the oem cartridge filters to the spin on variety? Are the spin on versions a better filtering system then the oem's or is it because there's more choices using the spin ons? Also if switching to a spin on type who or where has the best conversion adapters? This is for an 83. Larry

Joyce & I rolled in today at about 6pm. We left the hotel Friday morning and did a day long country ride ending up just east of Pittsburgh, Pa with Jay & Jeanie , Tom & Terry. I parted ways this morning while they contiued on seeking more country roads leading to the Hocking Hills in Ohio. We had a great time seeing and riding with folks at the rally. There was just so much to choose from one couldn't do it all or be with everyone at any given time. Thanks to Big Tom and his crew for putting on a great rally this year. Larry

1983 venture xvz12 problems

While I'm not new here or new to the RSV bikes ( I have a 05 Midnight trike) I am new to the 1st gen bikes having gotten a 83 like yours last week. So I'll be learning things right along with you as I get mine back to shape too. These 1st genners here are a devoted bunch bar none and are wealth of knowledge who are willing to share with everyone. Most will even stop by and lend a hand helping you if they live close enough. Good luck getting your ole gal back to good riding shape. Larry -
Well there is MickyD's next door to the Microtel hotel. Had some of their ice cream tonight in fact. Larry

Carbon_One replied to Freebird's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Thanks Carlos for the offer. Got a service manual from Denny. Don't know what year it's for but assuming it"ll cover the bikes info since he used it whenever he had to work on the bike. Larry
