I was in chat earlier Tuesday night and got a disconnect box popped up. I never did get back in either. This happened about 10:15-10:20pm. Larry

well I was in there for a bit and about 10:15 I was disconnected. Couldn't reconnect either even now. Larry

I just bought a chrome Wolo horn recently. The reason I got it over he Stebel was I couldn't find a chrome Stebel horn anywhere. So took a chance on the Wolo version. I haven't mounted it yet but it should be on by the weekend. I'm going to make an updated version of my bracket to use the Wolo horns. Current brackets require a spacer like those that were provided with the Stebel horns. The updated bracket will locate the horn in the normal position but won't need a spacer. Stay tuned. Larry

Questions about a hitch
Carbon_One replied to Polemonkey's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I'm not 100% sure if the hitches I make will fit your bike but check out my ad and see if they'll work. I haven't had any problems reported from customers towing anything with my hitch installed. It simply replaces the cross bar between the saddle bag/ muffler supports and will fit all 99-to present RSV's and 05 to 09 RSTD's http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3919&title=rsv26amp-3b-rstd-trailer-hitch&cat=24 Larry BTW: if by chance your bike uses different dimensions let me know and I could make a hitch to fit easily enough -
Power distribution control - interesting....
Carbon_One replied to XV1100SE's topic in Watering Hole
I do like it but I think I'll pass as well. They are just way too proud of it at $150 to my liking. Larry- 7 replies

Hannigan will be a IRS system where as the Tri-Wing will be a solid axle. Having ridden both I feel the IRS is a smoother ride due to wheels operating independently when travsering bumps or pot holes. On a solid axle the bike will stay more level in sharp turns but also be harsher when going over cold patched or uneven roads. Highly crowned roads will also offer their own challanges too. When a Hannigan trike is set up properly it'll be like a Corvette running thru twisties. As said once by my friend Jay / ragtop69gs. A couple of reasons is that the bike will sit lower to the ground, has a wider wheel stance, and is longer too. Larry

I'll be adding in my prayers and thoughts for you and the Doc's wishing the best of outcomes and that this will get you on the right path for a full recovery. At the least getting that leg as well and useable as it may ever be. Hang in there guy and with all of us pulling for you & with your determination this should have good results. Larry

Dick to answer your questions using my experince with my 05 Tri-Wing conversion with just over 35k out of a total off 55k being on two wheels here's my thoughts on this. #1 - How does mileage on the bike affect the kit ? ie; wear on parts not replaced by the kit. The only known extra wear I saw was the clutch slipping shortly after the bike being triked. It only happened if hitting the throttle hard in either 4 or 5th gear. An example would be accelerating on a freeway ramp. I attributed that to the extra 400 lbs the engine had to lug around. I put in a PCW clutch upgrade kit in it and never had another problem with slipping clutches again, even trailer towing in mountains. The 09 I have now will be triked in February using Hannigan's conversion. This bike has just under 10k on the clock but I'm taking a preventive route here and will put in Sky Doc's clutch upgrade kit before the conversion is done. #2 - Is the infamous rear shock gone with trike install ? With Hannigan's conversion the rear shock is eliminated because they use a dual coil over shock system on their independent axle set up. Tri-Wing used a solid axle with a pair of airbags on the axle and still used the OEM shock for the swing arm. Hope this enlightened you. If you or anyone else thinks of other questions just ask away. I'm sure you'll have others chiming in besides me on info regarding these bikes being triked. Larry

It'll be a tough fight on who actually wins this one. Certainly Sr. & Jr.'s bikes are starting to look good. Not enough of Jesses or Gas Monkey's bikes has been show to form an opinion. Anyhow I'm looking forward to seeing tomorrow nights show. Larry

New to me RSV-Hannigan Trike Check-Setup_Mod
Carbon_One replied to First_N_Last's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
On my 05 trike the clucth stated slipping after about 10,000 miles so I put in the PCW clutch upgrade. No New discs as they were still within specs. 35,000 miles later all was still good. The 09 I now have has just under 10k on it but I'm going to do SkyDoc's upgrade before the winter is over. Already have the parts so once I get a chance it'll be done and one less thing I'll have to concern myself with later on in the riding season. I tow a trailer quite often and with the bikes extra weight I just feel better doin it now rather than later. Larry -
Nice set of wheels Carl. Enjoy the ride. Larry

Hate reading posts like this but I am also glad they were in the car. Getting hit at 50 mph while stopped is never a good outcome. On a bike in the same situation it may will have been a matter of life or death. Good luck healing Tom and Amy. Larry

RSV-Hannigan Trike fender-light bar clearance
Carbon_One replied to First_N_Last's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
John my guess is that the springs need replacing with either a set of Progressives or Sonics. I had a set of Sonics in my 05 and loved the way the worked. Keep in mind that the Sonics are a straight spring not a progressive type. Anyhow While having them in I never had any issuse with bottoming out as in your case. Larry- 47 replies

I think there may be a handfull of folks who may extend their International Rally trip by doing further traveling. I know we're thinking of doing this but right now it's a bit too early for me to commit for anything solid. Sure like the idea of sharing more road time with folks here thou. Larry

Have a safe trip. Larry
