  1. Looking like we'll be having a great get together and better all the time. I'm seeing most of the regular riff raff here with exceptions of a couple folks. They'll be missed too. Too bad for you being so far away Squidley. Of course just give a call and I'll pick ya up at the airport. Going to stop by the BWW today and give em an updated head count. Larry
  2. Looking for another car already Patti? Larry
  3. Here's what I did to solve that same problem with my 05 RSV. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=61568&highlight=flasher Hope this helped, Larry
  4. My injuries pale in comparison to you guys. Best of luck to the both of you. Larry
  5. Luke I've got extra copper washers so that's 1 less item to buy. I'll bring them to the M&E unless you need them before hand. Let me know and we'll get em to ya. Larry
  6. Just a bump here reminding folks we're still going to hold this M&E. It looks like we'll have decent weather though a bit wet so I don't expect to see any scoots but that don't matter cause we'll still have a good time. Even have a new rider to the site going to join us, plus whoever else may show unexpectedly. Lots of room for every one here. Larry
  7. Well after giving this some thought I don't think you even need a fuel bottle. By using a small gas can, a length of hose, and a double barbed fitting you could use the bikes fuel pump to keep the carbs primed. Simply place the small gas can near the bike, dropping the hose into it and hook up the fitting to the bikes inlet hose. Once the key is turned on the fuel pump should pull fuel into the carbs. Also if for some reason the stock fuel pump isn't working you could put a temporary fuel pump between the gas can and the bikes inlet hose. Larry
  8. Good for you Owen. I'm looking forward to when I can get some saddle time too. Been Sept since I was on the road. Weather & roads keeping me grounded for now Larry
  9. :rotf:Well this isn't any new idea as it's been done before in various ways. But I think this is about the simplest method and due to cross bracing is very strong. One other thing worth mentioning is I did use just slightly longer screws on the two ends to accommodate the thicker material. Larry
  10. We all know how fragile the end of the windshield tabs are so I decided to beef up mine before there was any damage done. What I did was used a small flat head screw and counter sunk drilled the hole already near the ends of the metal bar. That allowed the screw to sit below the rubber strip that the windshield is sandwiched between it and the outer fairing. Next I spot welded a small piece of 16 guage steel and an 1/8" welding rod together. Cut the rod to the right length and welded another tab to the other end. I mounted the lower tab to the bottom speaker mount. You'll need to bend the rod for the proper angles but that's easily enough done. The ends of the windshiled mounts are rock solid now. Another additional support I did was to add some brass flat stock to the mounting screws for the outside fairing. I cut the two outer pieces 1 1/2" long and the two inner ones 2" long , then drilled a 13/16" hole for the screws 1/4" from the top on center. The two inner pieces will need a slight bend to conform to the curve. Adding these pieces will spread the load over a larger area thus saving broken tabs under the washers. I've found that adding the brass pads will also help prevent the windshield from loosening as you can tighten the screws a bit more rather than squishing the plastic tabs at the screw heads.
  11. I was going to suggest Motion Pro but they are very proud of their hanging fuel dispensers. I'll pass myself. I have used a long neck funnel with a ball valve attached at the bottom along with a length of hose. Gonna make up a better one similar to what Squid is doing thou. Larry
  12. Welcome back Dan. Some day you'll see the light but till then just keep believing in those antiques. Larry
  13. Glad to hear you just getting on the bike again. Bet that feels great. I've been off mine since late Sept and don't look like anytime soon I'll be back in the saddle either what with winter here and still in the healing phase. Larry
  14. This one is right up there with the mutant squirrel story. Loved it. :rotf: Larry

  22. I hate to see those wire connectors used for anything that is exposed to the elements. Moisture, then corrision, then failure is generally the results of using them. Jay (ragtop69gs) had a ball trying to locate a power failure and eventually found the voltage loss at one of those connectors on his bike. John you're doing yourself a favor doing the repairs the old and best way, solder and shrink tubing the connecting wires. Larry
  23. "Looks to me , you already have a custom hitch . your missing the ball mount. Thom" That would be my guess as well. Here's a pic of what my reciever hitch looks like mounted.
