  1. Totally agree with you there HG. I still have 1 more year left on the warranty of this bike but "if" there's another problem I may just fix it myself and save myself some $$$ and a headache. My previous bike, 05 RSV, had well over 50K on the clock and had never sat foot back into the dealers shop after purchasing it new. Still it gets frustrating for folks that do have problems and aren't able to do work on them themselves. Larry
  2. Got him Mike. :rotf: Seriously once you've had one of these road sofas its hard to go back to basics, eh? Larry
  3. Finally after 4 weeks I picked up the bike tonight from the dealer. It sat for the 1st week before they even looked at it and on the third week ordered new coils. For a while they were trying to tell me Yamaha wouldn't cover them cause they wanted the dealership to say what caused both to fail at once. In the end Yamaha did cover all costs except the extra labor charge the dealership tacked onto the bill. Claiming they had to get under the bike to remove the coils and also due to being triked. That cost me $94 and rather than argue with them any further I bit the bullet and paid the tab just to get the bike back home. In the end it would of been not only cheaper to buy a pair of used coils but would of saved a whole lot of time too. At least now its running as it should and all seems to be normal once again. Just in time too as weather is getting favorable here for riding. Larry
  4. Hope you get the bike done in time so you can go to B2Dad's M&E. It'll be good to see you again. Larry
  5. Fuzzy that wasn't me. Just a link/post I saw on face book and posted it here to share with everyone. Larry
  6. First there was the pickup truck that came across the double yellow at the intersection then the car stopped in the road. Why? Didn't look like there was a reason for that. Then the pickup plows into the car narrowly missing the bike. Be safe out there folks Larry
  7. Glad to hear you're getting settled in. Now if this weather will ever get co-operative we could get a ride or two in. That is after the dealer gets my parts in so I can pick it up. Hopefully soon too. Larry
  8. In 2011 we went to Yellowstone for a couple of days after the Cody, Wy international rally was over. Coming home we stopped for the day at Sturgis. This was on a Wed before the official Friday opening day there. Most vendors were either already set up or doing so while we were running around town. Lots of bikes but no where as crowded as I thought it would be. Had a fun filled day just checking the place out. We didn't stay the night thou as we were running short on time we needed to get home so hit the road . Wouldn't mind going back again as there is great riding roads out that way. Larry
  9. I'd be interested in your results with this. I stopped at a truck accessories shop once asking about them doing something like this with a 3-M product but they said they couldn't do it to the 05 trike. Larry
  10. Yea what Richard said. Not worth the risk IMO. BTW : Michigan here as well Larry
  11. Yep a lot of us have ordered stuff from Custom Dynamic's, myself included. Sure wish we could of had a discount available this past winter as I was getting a bunch of lights and accessories from them for the new Hannigan trike. Larry
  12. Wishing my wife Joyce a very Happy 46th anniversary today. Love you as much today as I did back in "67" . Boy talk about all them years gone by! Raised 2 fine kids , our Son Eric and daughter Carolyn. We have 5 great grand kids as well. We can only hope and pray we live long enough to enjoy having great grand kids under foot. Larry
  13. The stinger I made for my trike is 6 1/2" from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball. I used 1 1/4" tube with a 1/2" thick piece of flat stock. Never had any problems and more than strong enough for any bike - mc trailer combination. Larry
  14. Mike as in past years I too will be adding some items to be given out. I may change things up some this year on what I'll donate but rest assured there'll be several items. Larry
  15. Lovely girl and God must have had a good reason for calling her home so soon. Peace to you and family Dan.
  16. The adapter will fit your bike but you probably should have a safety bar added to it due to the shorter Torin jack you're using. If the jacks lift arms are at least 13" long then you're good there and won't need the safety bar. Larry
  17. Sorry to hear this Dan. Prayers for her, you, & family. She's with the Lord now and no longer suffering. Larry
  18. Well deserved pat on the back. I agree with all who have posted. Congratulations:clap2: to you and especially your son for an outstanding, well done job.
  19. I always ship my products going north of the border using USPS since they go by priority air (or land depending where at from Michigan) and are insured by at least $100-120, extra insurance can be bought. Shipping times are generally 7-10 days but can take longer. The last lift adapter I sent to BC cost me $75 . Package was 20 lbs, 26" long, 14" wide, and 4" thick so you're not too bad for that long box you're shipping. Larry
  20. Looks like that could work Gary. Any idea what the effect would be with the smaller bore would be?
  21. Has anyone ever replaced the rear master with an aftermarket master cylinder kit? Seeing as you can no longer get them and rebuilding kits are ify what's one to do when in need of a replacement other than buying & taking a chance of a used e-bay unit? Due to the vertical position of the master there's limited options from what I've seen. That and size too. During my searching thus far I've come across a Tilton 75 series master than may work. Of course brackets would be needed & fabricated but the size makes them look doable. With the kit coming with various reservoirs and attachments I think it could be a good replacement option. The reason I'm addressing this topic is last fall I did a rebuild on the 83 and now after sitting thru the winter I've no pedal pressure at all. When the bike was parked for winter it had a pretty good brake so I'm thinking with the bore being pitted it just lost any semblance of pressure. The only other option I can think of off hand would be to machine bore the original to the next size and replace the internal parts from an after market kit. Larry PS: here's a link to the Tilton masters. http://www.summitracing.com/search/brand/tilton-engineering/part-type/master-cylinders/product-line/tilton-75-series-universal-master-cylinder-kits?autoview=SKU
  22. Apply a dab of wheel bearing grease in several spots around the cover. Doing so will keep the gasket in place while getting the cover in position. Larry
  23. I can relate to what is mostly being said here. like most my cell phone is used mostly for texting, occasional use for checking FB and a couple web pages with VR at the top of the list. Larry
  24. Good looking bike Joe. Hope you can get more than 500 miles / year out of it thou. If that "piglet" don't rattle you to much, that is. Seriously bottom line is you'll be riding again. Hope to see you soon. Larry
