Please do some Prayers Up for my little grandson this Friday..
Carbon_One replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Prayers up for that cute little guy Puc. Hopefully no problems either during or after his surgeries. Those youngsters are tougher than they look but still no one wants to see em suffer.Larry -
Today we lost our friend & companion of 15+ years, Buddy. Some members here will remember that little guy attending some of the VR events over the years with us. We're gonna miss that little guy but I'm sure we'll see him again at that rainbow bridge when the Father calls us home too. Larry

Glad to hear he'll be ok. Prayers up.

Puc if you need a differential assembly I have one sitting here that was taken off for the trike conversion. Only has 10k miles on it so it's basically new so to speak. Larry -
Thoughts to ponder about MD from Michigans west coast..
Carbon_One replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks for the invite Puc but as Richard pointed out I'll be in North Carolina by the time you form up your posse. Don's MD date this year just won't work out with our tripping schedule. So unfortunately we'll miss everyone there this year. Larry -
I bought an "01" when they first came out as a re-entry motorcycle. My son had bought one a couple months prior and after seeing his and riding it I was hooked. As others said they are solid bikes. Rode mine to 05 when I bought the RSV cause we wanted to travel more and the Venture was better suited for that. I did add hard bags and a Harley fairing but no comparison to the RSV's comfort. The Volusia , now a C50, is still a great bike. Larry

So sad to see this post. I was just about getting online here when Ragtop called me with this news. Now I'm in shock as many others here are. :bawling: Can hardly see to type this. :crying: RIP Dan You'll be missed by many of us friend. Prayers up for Dan's family Larry

Interesting post ya put up here Puc. My son and I were just talking about this topic last week. He intends to acquire a couple of my guns, rifles & pistols as I no longer hunt with them. So we'll be getting some new first hand experience on this very soon. The son did talk to his nearby gun shop and was told rifles - no problem, handguns will need to go thru the police department. It's also interesting to hear from folks here have to do in their various states / country Larry

Thanks for the additional info. Yes we are west of Detroit / Ambassador bridge by about 30 miles. We have also made crossings at Port Huron / Sarnia depending on our destinations. We have plans in place currently to attend the VR rally -- http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?133953-2018-Ontario-Rally-July-19th-to-22nd . Maybe we'll see you there or other such gatherings. Larry

That Murphy guy revisited me again today. :bawling: Shutting down for the day and closing the garage door the door stopped about halfway but the motor continued running. Got it shut off, did some inspection and found the chain drive mechanism locked up. Further checking also found the plastic gear's teeth stripped. Needless to say I'll be replacing the entire unit tomorrow. I can't complain too much cause I did get 40+ years of service out of that opener. Its just another unexpected expense that has to be dealt with:95. $130 to $180 for a replacement. :mo money: Larry

Thanks everyone. We took a ride Sunday in the Slingshot going to Hell, Michigan. Round trip of about 125 miles. Swung by Ragtops place too but he wasn't home. Larry
-
I hope Eileen rode with you. We took ours out Sunday for the first time this year. Putting a total of 125 miles on it going to Hell and back. Larry

With the new seat did your passenger lose space while you gained room?

My favorite load is for the FF600SNOW. It has a range that will just reach about a 3 miles more than the big pond is wide. I think it is cowpucs favorite too. He keeps telling me to let er rip.............. Sure glad I'm far enough away that I get mostly leftovers from that infernal snow machine of yours Jeff. I do applaud you for spreading the love around this past winter too. Now if Saddlebum would of kept that door shut better we'd of had a much more normal milder winter.

Well said Don. I truly miss the motorcycling aspect at times whether it was on 2 or 3 wheels. As I got older it became obvious that if I wanted wind in my face I had to adapt. Especially after being broadsided and tossed back in "12". We had a Mita for a few years too.. Really fun little car but just not the same feeling you could get motorcycling. So this Slingshot fills these gaps for wife & I being safe & while we continue having fun. Your comparisons between the Spyder & Slingshot are dead on as well. My son has an earlier model Spyder I've ridden a few times but never could get comfortable on it. Love it or not Polaris really hit a home run with these 3 wheeled Slingshots. The thing with these machines is the broad spectrum of people who are attracted to them. Current & former motorcyclist, sports car enthusiast, or just your average Joe of all ages and sex. Larry

Speaking of ammo just how many here load their own? I have for many years now thou not much lately as shooting time interferes with riding time. All pistol and rifle for the guns I've owned. I use a RCBS single stage press. Did have a Hornady progressive for a while but sold it as it wasn't being used much. No shot shell loading either. Larry

Most states list them as a motorcycle, due to being a three wheeler. Although now a lot of states are switching to them being classified as a autocycle yet still license them as mc's. Confused yet? So states that require a helmet require the same in their states when driving them. Cowpuc is right, they're like an oversized go cart and handle about the same yet ride more sports car like. Think Mita here. You're there Don on the part

Looking good Don. :thumbsup2:Maybe this weekend it'll be warm enough for Eileen to take ya for a ride. Larry

What really sold me on them was the full length grip. On the Blackhawk models my pinkie finger would be on the base of the grip. Also when firing the gun would rotate much more ,especially the 44Mag. The Bisley with its longer & narrower grip fit my hand much better. With the lower hammer spur cocking was a whole lot easier too, especially with gloves on. I just love shooting them. Larry

Finally got around to getting a couple pics of a few of my handguns. First is the matched Bisley Rugers. 44 Mag on top. It currently has a scope mount on it when I had a 2X scope mounted for deer hunting. Bottom is the .22 LR. Next is a Long Slide AMT in .45ACP (8" barrel). Next is a Jennings .380 Auto I keep available in the house. Planning on a 9mm whenever I can decide on a make & model.

I'm probably the odd one here. My favorite .22 is also a Ruger Blackhawk like Don's EXCEPT it has a blue finish & the Bisley grip frame. It's a perfect match to my .44 Mag Blackhawk. Both fit my hand like a glove and are more accurate than these old eyes can see. I'll see if I have a pic of it /them later. Larry
