  1. Know what you mean on pulling the trigger too soon. I had looked at the 2014 Can Am's but couldn't decide plus we looked at the Motor Trike Stallions so when this Slingshot popped up I was all over it. Even to the point of selling the bike before actually seeing one in the flesh. After checking one out last weekend I do feel this machine is going to be a good fit for us. Larry
  2. Yep that's what I've been hearing from the Polaris people and dealers. Pretty much like what CanAm did when they first brought out the Spyder series. After a time they provided what people were asking for including a bigger engine. As to current storage there's a very generously sized lockable glove box and behind each seat a storage compartment big enough to hold a helmet and back pack sized bag. Bottom line is there will be further improvements made in due time along with accessories being offered. Seeing as I have one on order I guess you all will know just what there is to know about them once I get it and put a few miles on the odometer.
  3. Myself I change oil & filter every 5k on all of my vehicles. Sometimes a couple hundred sooner , sometimes a couple hundred after the 5k mark. Changing the oil on the Miata tomorrow in preparation of going to the NY rally. Mileage is just short of 5k at 4875 since last oil change. Mobil One synethic oil. Larry
  4. Yes you'll need both a helmet and /or a MC endorsement for these due to being classified as motorcycles per your state regulations concerning motorcycles in general. In short whatever rules your have on motorcycles in you state applies to these as well. Larry
  5. Gonna miss going to E.S. due to the new owner flying in that weekend to ride the bike home. It'll be both a happy and sad day when he leaves the driveway on the gal. Whatever I'm sure its going to a good home. If fact the soon to be new owner is a current member here but I'll let him make the announcement. This past weekend my son & I went to the Detroit Dream Cruise and while there I spotted my next trike. Finally seeing one in the flesh so to speak as before hand all I saw of them were pics. Having already dropped a deposit two weeks ago with some apprehension on one and now seeing it in person convinced me I'm making the right decision. Without further ado my next trike will be a Polaris Slingshot SL in red. I had also given the Motor Trike Stallion some consideration but went this route instead for at least a couple reasons. More room for the passenger and between $5 & 10k more depending on new or used. Polaris isn't delivering them to the dealers until the end of Sept or early Oct.so the waiting begins. All that out there for now are the demos. Larry BTW: You all are still stuck with me cause I'm not going anywhere. This is my biker home till I get kicked out. I'm still going to offer the items that I make for the Ventures too. Who knows what if anything I'll find to make for these Slingshots.
  6. That's why when I put my led strip lights on I put them on the black portion of the lowers and trunk. But even if one has a light colored bike I don't think the black background of the strips would be that noticeable except maybe on the front fairing. Mine were wired to be on whenever the key was on so the lights themselves sort of blocked out the black background. Larry
  7. On that fairing I'd think you'll have to drill a small hole thru bout the chrome eyebrow and fairing itself for the wires. The lights themselves are self stickon types. On my trike I just run the wiring under the trunk since it was hidden pretty good. Same for the yellow LED's up front. Larry
  8. I used 3 red LED strip lights that can be purchased at most auto parts stores and mounted them on the lower portion of the trunk. 4" ones for the sides and a 12" one on the back. They're very bright and can be seen even in daylight. Also a pair of 4" yellow LED's mounted vertically on the lower cowlings next to the crash bars. I also had converted the front reflectors to LED lights too. Larry
  9. Got busy and forgotten the pics but here they are. Better late than never . LOL
  10. Ya that guy can be sneaky so gotta keep an eye on him.
  11. Can't be of much help on this but I'd go with whatever would be the easiest way to configure the system. And probably keep the heaters or at least leave em in place for easy hookup later. Of course where you live you'd probably never need them
  12. Was I the only one who saw your play of words? Congrats Bill on the new Rukus just the same. Unfortunately we won't see you at E.S. Larry
  13. I used a Kuryakyn 1" "P" clamp. As for the bracket I didn't use the one that came with the gauge but made my own out of a piece of 3/16" thick x 3/4" wide and about 3" long stainless steel. I bent a 90*angle on one end that positions the P clamp and then put a small twist in the main part to get the angle I wanted. I'll take a pic and post it here later today. Larry
  14. Yea he better hope the Feds don't get wind of this. Might has some serious explaining to do
  15. That he would.
  16. Good one my friend. Sorry no boat thou. You'll need to talk to Freebird or Monty to take ya fishing. Well you already know I have a 83 1st gen & a sidecar. They just haven't been married yet. Larry
  17. Pending sale. More like SOLD Now I'll keep ya guessing for a while on is replacement. A couple close friends already know thou. Larry
  18. one burgundy trunk sold to Goose68
  19. I've got a 83 with a rack on it if interested. PM or better yet e-mail me for more info and pics Larry
  20. Hardley?? NO way.
  21. Trikes are still two seaters aren't they?
  22. While doing the syn keep an eye on the gauge so that you might get an indication as to which cylinder is causing the idle problem. In other words say #3 falls off first when the idle starts dropping then I'd check that carb first. Thou going thru all of them might be the better solution. Larry
  23. Thanks for the concern guys. Joyce and I are fine. We're just going in another direction is all. AND NO we're not going anywhere either cause this place is our biker home. Still riding the bike till it gets sold so you may well see us somewhere on it. Next week at the WNY rally for one and maybe the E.S. M&E in Arkansas thou we're leaning on taking the Miata on that trip. Larry
  24. to the both of you. Especially using bow & arrow. I've always enjoyed bow hunting and taking a bear was on my bucket list but never came to be. Larry
  25. We use the Kentucky parkway all the time going to B2Dad's/Mom's place. As noted a good route with little traffic except when we're around Louisville. Larry
