  1. A most interesting topic here and one I can completely agree with on what the other posters have said. I've seen Don taking a lot of "ribbing" and never retaliate since getting his Harley. That to me says a lot about his character. I loved the two 2nd gen bikes I have owned and still think they're good bikes but certainly could use some modern updating by Yamaha. I'm expecting some ribbing myself having gone from my 09 trike to the Slingshot. I'll report on that once I get some miles on it. But no matter as I fully intend on sticking around as this place has become my biker family since joining back in 05. Besides I do have a 83 1st gen so I guess I still qualify here.:stirthepot In the end I for one am grateful Don continues this site even thou he no longer owns a Yamaha. Larry
  2. Regardless of how long he's been a member here he's still family. I'll offer up prayers for him & his family while he gets healed. Larry
  3. Thanks for sharing that snow down yonder Fool. I'm sure they're all enjoying it.
  4. Sorry for your loss Gary. Prayers for everyone.
  5. Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. Just another typical winter day here. Bowling night and was awful to say the least. BUT it was still a great evening since I won both a 50/50 and a mystery jackpot. Life is still good. Now by next week I hope to redeem myself on the scorecard. Larry
  6. Yep I've been keeping up with what's been going on with this recall. In fact stopped by the dealership this evening to get mine into Polaris's repair system. The dealership will call Polaris tomorrow with my vin number. From what I've read all units will be completed in about 4 weeks. Works ok for me since I'm not going anywhere soon on it due to being snowbound. Larry PS: Thanks for having my back guys
  7. At the Slingshot forum it's been said the entire rack & pinion will be replaced for all units sold to date. Apparently the vendor didn't heat treat the ball bearings to a hard enough rating so they were starting to fail. Only two known complete failures to date with no serious accidents involved. It's good to see Polaris taking this approach rather than a piecemeal repair to units as they fail. I don't have much mileage on mine due to winter here but will be stopping by my dealership this evening and setting up an appointment to get this done. Only good thing from my perfective is that I can't ride for another month or so , so it should be done by the time I'm ready to hit the road. Larry
  8. Yep a bunch of us enjoying the read & picks. Continue on Puck.
  9. Got one like new. Took it off when switching during trikes conversion. Pm me. Larry
  10. On my bikes I've gone from the stock OEM's to Silver Stars to PIAA's, & last to HID's. Each step up provided more & better light. My favorite was the HID with Pisa's 2nd.
  11. Hope ya had some good news today Puck. Prayers continuing for you.
  12. Can't help much with any info but wishing you best wishes if going this route of life style. Larry
  13. Well Eck you can't always believe what one reads either so I could be wrong too. Wouldn't be the first or last time ya know. LOL Regardless Huntsville and Alabama scored another good win drawing in another big company. Remington is moving or has moved their operations there too from what I've read recently. Good news for the economy in your area for sure. Larry
  14. I also want to add that Texas initially ok'd slingshot sales then changed their minds due to wording of their mc definitions. Getting back on Eck's original topic Polaris will be making 4 wheeler off road atv's in Alabama not Slingshots as those will still be made at the Iowa plant along with the Indian brand of cycles.
  15. 4 states having trouble licensing the Slingshot, those being Texas, Indiana, Connecticut, & Maryland. Illinois just passed legislation defining an autocycle to include the Slingshots. Vermont changed their law back in July to define autocycle for 3wheelers so Slingshots could be sold there. I think a couple other states are doing the same. BTW: No problems for out of state riders in Texas using a Slingshot
  16. I've had one a number of years now and well worth of the costs. Been a couple years since it's last use & hope it sees some exposure soon. Larry
  17. Good news indeed Fool. Hope you don't have any further setbacks. Larry
  18. Pucks snow looks to be at least 6 times more than we have here in s e Michigan. I'll get a better look at what's over his way next weekend. Going to check out granddaughters collage hockey team in Grand Rapids. But we have plenty of that artic air here. If this keeps up I'll be afraid to see my next heat bill. Larry
  19. I got one of those Vivitar action cameras for Christmas but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Mine may be a newer or updated model. Model # 785HD. It can take stills if one wants to, can be downloaded to a pc, or run in loop mode. Neat unit considering cost compared to say a Go Pro Hero. Made a mount for it to try out on the Slingshot whenever winter is done with us. Larry
  20. Glad Jeff's been sharing his snow with everyone this year. Got our first snowfall last night, only about an inch, so no big complaints. Last year at this time we had almost a foot & half on the ground. But sure been nippy with Canada's wind bearing down on us. Hoping for a short winter this year. Larry
  21. Congrats Gill. Get those honey do jobs done this winter so you have more riding time this summer.
  22. I recognize some of those hooligans. Food must of been good as they're all smiles. Missed seeing ya all.
  23. Prayers offered up in their time of need. Hopefully Abdul & especially Shah will pull thru their problems with our support. Larry
  24. Back at ya bud. Riding today?
