ok here's my take between the two. With a motorcycle trike you're riding on the bike, steering by pushing & pulling the handle bar. Sitting higher & with the passenger inline with you. On a solid axle trike you're getting bounced around more than when on an independent suspension triked bike. Compared with the two mc trikes I had, 05 RSV/Tri-Wing verses the 09 RSV/Hannigan. On the Slingshot you're driving it much like a car with its comfort of power assisted steering, full body support with buckets seats sitting side x side, & a much better suspension. The Slingshots really compare more to a two seated roadster (Miata, BMW Boxer, etc). Three wheels is basically the reason for being called a motorcycle. You're still exposed to the elements in the slingshot just like on a bike so you still have a bike feeling ride. I know there's going to be times I'll miss having / riding the RSV's but for the wife & I comfort won out, especially on trips. Larry

Sure there's been some big guys who own them. Getting out is more of a challenge but doable with the right technique. I find stepping in with the right foot, sitting down, then lifting the left leg over the frame works well. Getting out is reversed or just stand up, then step out. Also the drivers side has more leg room than the passengers side, firewall is closer. Drivers seat is adjustable, passenger side isn't. Larry

Is that yours Jerry?. Nope I didn't design one. About I've done so far is add a couple LED lights, auxiliary fuse box, a Wolo air horn, and moded a license plate holder out of some stainless steel. Larry

Congratulations Jerry on your new purchase. You're the 2nd VR member I know of who's bought a Slingshot. I've had mine since December. Haven't gotten a lot of miles on mine yet but intend to remedy that soon as weather gets better. Yep these rides being as new as they sure draw a crowd wherever you go. Pic takers whipping out their phones even on the highway so be careful. Enjoy the ride, Larry

Yep that Miata in the background is still ours. Joyce's ride to be more specific. LOL The comparisons between the Miata and the Slingshot are very close to each other as far as size and handling. The Miata is more all weather while the Sling is more as you mentioned as a adult sized go cart with plenty of power and open like the cycle's are. The Slingshot does have a computer traction control brain to keep that rear wheel from swapping ends. Even then you'll feel the back end busting loose. With 170 horses on tap you can break traction thru the first three gears if you want to. With 5" of ground clearance and the wide stance it hugs the road very very well. All in all it's a wonderful machine but its really not fair to compare it to a cycle or even a trike for that matter as its more of a 2 seated roadster much like the Miata. I did love having the two RSV trikes, especially the 09 w/Hannigan conversion but there's just no comparing the ride comfort and extra safety of the Slingshot. For us that was a major selling point. Sorry ole buddy Puc. Weather is going to have to co-operate a lot better before I get out your way. I've been out a few time just on local roads for shorter distance so far. The longest day ride was about 165-170 miles. In the meantime I've been busy here getting caught up on stuff at home since I haven't been on the road. Todays temps were pretty good but being with family I didn't get out, thou I let my son Eric take it out for a spin with his niece and nephew. First time ride for the kids and were loving it. The granddaughter is wanting lessons on driving the stick shift already. Might do that as she'll turn 21 this summer and is a great kid. Here's a couple pics I took when they got back from their ride. I think by their grins they liked it. LOL Larry

Don I did the same thing when purchasing my Slingshot. It made a lot more sense making a payment on it at lower interest rates than a couple other bills with higher rates. All in due time thou. Larry

Nice car Don. AS you know todays cars have so many features in todays cars its mind boggling. I'm sure you'll get a lot of happy miles in your new choice of car. As for downing sizing vehicles you're probably doing the wise decision there too, especially if you do decide on a career change. You can always pick up a used car/truck when/if you switch jobs. Michigan it's 5"slab AND (I think) 36"footings for a garage or 3" flat slab for a shed. Larry BTW: excellent choice on hiring that cement work done.
