When I had my bike the wife wanted the same effect of the leaning back angle. Besides moving the trunk back I added spacers to the front trunk mounting bolts. Effectively changing the angle of the backrest. When you do this it would be best to add a large support area between the spacers & the abs trunk. I used stainless steel sheet metal for the entire bottom.

I had 3 busted ribs & the collar bone and that was more than enough for me when I got "T" boned 3 years ago. I can't imagine the suffering your going thru Dan. Prayers up for ya during the healing process.

Had a mid to late model 650 BSA Spitfire. Forget the year at the moment. Like the Lighting with dual crabs but with a small (2 1/2 - 3 gallon?) fiberglass tank. Really enjoyed that bike.

I've only bumped the Speedo to about 90 passing some slower cars a couple of times. Hardly any effort to do that. Reported by other owners it should see 130-135 in 4th gear. 5th is too highly geared overdrive much like the Ventures. Adding a turbo will bump horsepower from stock 170 to 300 easily. No idea what top end would be then thou. Also reported is once the Slingshots crowd that 135 number wind resistance starts effecting handling. So basically a turbo just gives ya a lot more kick at the slower speeds.
Left Maggie Valley this morning after attending the Slingshots in the Smokies rally. Had over 80+ machines on hand with a bunch of vendors selling stuff . I bought a F-4 tinted windshield and had a laser wheel alignment done. Did a couple of group rides and just had a good time all week.
Also spotted a few Ventures but no one from VR. I did pass the word on about the site here.
Next stop tomorrow will be the B2's homestead for a visit.
Joyce & I had a nice visit with Angel & Lori this morning spending time with them before, during & after breakfast. He's doing as well as expected considering his injuries. Time will be his friend in healing thou I know he's chomping at the bit to get working again.
Blessings & Prayers offered up Angel.

Don and Eileen what everyone has said in the above posts ring so true. I can't add anything else but do know I'm another very thankful member who is grateful for your efforts running this website and what you do to host a MD. Sorry I didn't make it this year, 2nd time I've missed one in all these years you've sponsored one too.
God Bless you and Eileen

Well even on 3 wheels one is not totally safe. Cages can and do still seem to tangle up with our bikes. As in my accident 3 years ago on my 05 RSV trike. And there'll always be the human error that'll cause an accident, be it out riding our skills or being inattentive to our surroundings.
But trikes will allow us a more forgiving nature overall.

So sorry to hear we've had another rider have another accident this year. 3 just going to & from MD. 4 counting Angel a week or so ago.
I agree enough of this crazy stuff.

Reading the responses from folks that have both lended a hand during Dan's accident as well as all of the moral support for him reminds me of when Joyce and I high sided during the Vogal rally back in 2007.
My situation was much the same as his where the rear wheel locked on me during a panic stop. But unlike Dan we walked away with mostly just road rash, more so me than Joyce. We did take that ambulance trip to the hospital to be checked out as a precaution, but as I said nothing was broken Thankfully.
The bottom line is we have an amazing group of people here that will go the extra mile for our members when help is needed.
Also we had decided at that time when rebuilding the bike we went to the third wheel world. A side car was considered but in the end chose to trike the 05. A totally happy decision for us with many a mile enjoyed on 3 wheels to date with our third trike now.

Sorry to hear of your accident David. Thou it may pain you to have to fix the bike you can be sure we all are glad you walked away unscathed. Glad your Guardian Angel was watching over you.

You're a horse trader by heart so no taking bets here. But I'm sure if you do a trade your the one getting the better end of the deal.
