  1. As another rider here who has crashed this year I'm just glad to hear your injuries are none the worse for what you've gone thru. And yea gotta love these brain buckets too. I know for fact that they helped me and the wife in our crash. I know of a couple others around here with the same results. Now if we'd of been using all the ride gear we probably wouldn't had much other than bruises, as it was we got road rash but nothing extreme. Thank the Lord. good luck on your bikes repairs or replacement Larry
  2. I retired with 32 years under me at my county job in 98 at age 51 and then worked another 8 years as a golf course mechanic. Lost that job last year and been just doing odd jobs at home till now. I just recieved my disability staus from Social Security so am offically retired for good. Currently I'm 60. Like many here I should of planned better for these golden years but can't complain too much. I like these 6 Saturdays in a row too. I wanna be like Lowel too so hopefully soon I'll be following in his footsteps. Larry
  3. Well folks it's been just over a year this month that I first offered my lift adapters for sale here and I want to take this moment to say "Thanks for all of the support and encouragement I've received from everyone here". I had already been out of a job for the previous 6 months so the extra money I was able to make was more than welcome. It gave me a purpose in filling my days as well as keeping me busy enough so that I didn't go nuts. Officially I'm retired now but fear not as I'll continue offering these lift adapters to anyone who wants one. As noted above making them keeps me just the right amount of busyness. I've even had the highest form of flattery as someone copied my design and has sold them on E-Bay. Since I have no patient on them he's legal if not ethical. He's only done the Standard model and also doesn't offer the Larin Special versions. I don't think he sells many thou as i've seen nurmous times he's listed them and had no sales. So in this regard I thank everyone again who has bought the adapters thru me. Also while Thanking folks for their support & purchases of the lift adapters I want to say the same for those who have purchased my Stebel horn brackets. THANKS to all, Larry
  4. Prayers for you & family. Larry
  5. It's good to see another youngster taking an interest in the hunting and shooting sports. As a life long hunter and shooter I know our ranks are dwindling but including more youth can not but help us. Congratulations to Daughter & Mom for a fine day in the woods and with excellent results I might add. Larry PS: Jack you know now that the gun does indeed shoot straight so no excuses about any of those missed shots when you do manage to take one.
  6. I agree about keeping the original and perhaps doing up a limited version for those who would like something different. I'd buy either one thou Larry
  7. Thanks to everyone here for their concerns. The operation went much better than I excepted it to. The Doc did a preliminary test and said it was real good. The full success of this operation will be known after testing in 6 weeks. I'll do a follow up on this subject when I have more info. For those interested in what I had done you can read up on it here - http://www.cochlear.com If I'm feeling as well as I do now or better come Saturday I'll see a few of you at Floyd's BBQ. Also plan on attending the morning breakfast. Lewis (and otheres) Joyce and I are both pretty much healed up now. Still have some new skin to grow and color out & a couple of sore spots yet. Being older seems to take longer to patch ourselves up. As to the bike and my ins co, Progressive, they have settled with me. I'll be rebuilding the bike soon. I hope to get a majority of parts ordered by Monday. A few folks know that I am doing some serious mods to the bike while I'm rebuilding it. :cool10:Details and write up will follow. Larry

Hey Gary Glad to hear your operation went well too. Just seen this yesterday but finally getting around to posting. Hope to see you soon Larry
  9. I think this is a great idea too. And for all the reasons already given too. Myself I'm online here through out the day and evening so don't miss much going on here. But still it would be nice to have a refresher of topics posted. I also like the idea of being able to do print outs to hand to other interested persons about this great site. Or send a link to someone as needed. Larry
  10. Hi everyone. Larry's surgery went just fine. He's home and sleeping. They said the implant is working perfectly. Won"t know how much he'll actually hear for about six weeks, has to heal before they can attach mic. Thanks for all your well wishes. Joyce
  11. I filled one out not long after getting my 05 Midnight. Did like Don said. Just answer the questions as honestly as possible. Larry
  12. I was at a honda dealership tonight and there was a 07 Goldwing MotorTrike conversion on the floor. Asking price was 32k. Nice bike . Oh and that wasn't all dressed out like some Wings I've seen so safety chrome added on would easly push that figure into the 35-40k quoted earlier here. Nice but too nice for this poor ole boy here too. Larry
  13. My bike has the stock Road King mufflers on it and used to pop occasionally on decelerating as well. What I did was to change out the pilot jets for the next size up and also change the main jets up one size. You only need to buy two main jets and a set of larger pilot jets as two of the mains can be moved to another carb. I don't recall off hand which sizes needed to be bought but this topic has been discussed here before. Anyhow I no longer have that popping , have slightly better throttle response on low and mid range accelerating and fuel economy hasn't changed much if any. I consistently get 42-44 mpg cruising 55-60 mph and between 38-40 on the super slabs at 70-75 mph. When doing this you should also readjust the fuel mix screws and then a carb synchronize. You'll be pleasantly supprised with the results here after doing this Larry
  14. Sorry to hear of your friends accident as well Dog. I will pray that they too will have a speedy and full recovery from their accident. Keep us up to date on them. As much as I hated to have taken the fall I know very well how lucky Joyce & I were to have gotten away with so little damage to us. Our guardian angels were with us for sure that day. Please be carefull as possible out there folks. We need not add others from our membership to the list of fallen. Larry
  15. You guys are just trying to make me feel better aren't ya? And not the only dropee while there. :whistling:Seeing as I dropped mine big time at Vogel. Yea these things have a mind of their own at times. And once you get to a certain point there's no going back either. Larry
  16. Thanks fib & pegscraper. I did find the info after wading thru the posts. Coverting those numbers make the RSV a 3.33/1 ratio and the V-Max a 3.67/1 ratio which is what I was looking for. Larry
  17. His is a Velorex model. Not sure which one thou I'm thinking it's the 562 model. Could be very wrong there. I've been eyeing a few of the different companies who make them too and besides the Velorex models I liked the Texas Side Car Ranger too. Here's a couple links to them - http://www.velorexusa.com/index.shtml http://www.texassidecars.com/ Larry
  18. Ok folks who knows what the gear ratio is for the 2nd gen differentials? What's the 1st gen and V-max ratios too for that matter? Larry
  19. Mini you already know Joyce & I had told you we'd be back. So here's my offical hat in the ring. Since I'm officially retired as of this week dates shouldn't matter. Larry & Joyce
  20. I wanted the exact same results on my bike so what I did was install a 30 amp relay and switch box. In order to do exactly what you want to do I inserted a relay for the low beam light and now use a switch to turn on/off the low beam as desired. High beam is unaffected so works as normal. I ran a new fused line to supply power to the relay and used the low beam side of the bikes circuit to activate the relay. Once I engage the relay by flipping the switch (ground the circuit in the relay ) the light comes on. Here's how to hook it up: On the relay there'll be the following numbers. #30 Power to the relay vie a battery feed fused line. I use a rubber covered type that matches the oem fuses. This way you have spares if needed. #87 Key on power source. You can use the original low beam light wire to activate this terminal #86 Power outlet of the relay. You'll run wire from this terminal to the low beam terminal you took off the headlight #85 This terminal will go to one side of your on/off switch. Then ground the other side of the switch. I used a switch box that mounted on the clutch reservoir. Show Chrome makes them for the Wings. They fit our bikes perfectly too. You can get them for the right side as well. Hope this was helpfull and easy enough to understand. Larry
  21. I've got a 1 7/8" Drag Specilities tach mounted in a Arlen Ness bullet cup and attached with a Kurykyn "P" clamp. Check with DenDen as he has two tachs he told me he was going to sell. One came off his wrecked 01 (resvoir mounted Barons ) and the other from a bike he just bought to replace it. That one is a Drag Specilites, but don't know the size of it. It's mounted on the tank/ignition switch cover. Larry
  22. Thanks for the good reports guys. Yea this bracket is one of the things I've done with these bikes I'm happy to have shared with everyone here. Like I've said elsewhere it was just too good to not share. Larry
  23. I've rubbed a spot off the top from getting on & off the bike. Hardly noticable unless you look for it. But as noted the chrome isn't really chrome but a painted on process. Eventually I'll either have the cover rechromed or just spray paint it with chrome paint. Maybe even a wrinkle finish black would look OK. Anyhow I'll worry about that when the time comes Larry
  24. Not from your area but I'll offer up this suggestion. Go to several auto body shops and see what they'll charge you to paint your parts. It may not be too much if you're willing to disassemble/ reassemble the bike yourself. With being a single color just about any decent shop should be able to do the work. Larry
  25. Like Denny I upped the main jets one size over the stock jets and did the same for the piolts. I'm running stock Road kings and K&N filters in the stock air boxes. It does improve the bottom end and my mileage ain't bad either. I consistantly get between 42 & 46mpg up to about 65 mph and from 70-80 I'm averaging 38-40mpg. I can live with that easy enough. Oh I used to get the popping on decelleration too but that's gone now since rejeting. I'm still using the stock AIS system. Might get even more bottom end torque doing the Jason mod, but I'm happy enough with the performance so see no reason to do that yet. Larry
