  1. Ok folks who knows what the gear ratio is for the 2nd gen differentials? What's the 1st gen and V-max ratios too for that matter? Larry
  2. Mini you already know Joyce & I had told you we'd be back. So here's my offical hat in the ring. Since I'm officially retired as of this week dates shouldn't matter. Larry & Joyce
  3. I wanted the exact same results on my bike so what I did was install a 30 amp relay and switch box. In order to do exactly what you want to do I inserted a relay for the low beam light and now use a switch to turn on/off the low beam as desired. High beam is unaffected so works as normal. I ran a new fused line to supply power to the relay and used the low beam side of the bikes circuit to activate the relay. Once I engage the relay by flipping the switch (ground the circuit in the relay ) the light comes on. Here's how to hook it up: On the relay there'll be the following numbers. #30 Power to the relay vie a battery feed fused line. I use a rubber covered type that matches the oem fuses. This way you have spares if needed. #87 Key on power source. You can use the original low beam light wire to activate this terminal #86 Power outlet of the relay. You'll run wire from this terminal to the low beam terminal you took off the headlight #85 This terminal will go to one side of your on/off switch. Then ground the other side of the switch. I used a switch box that mounted on the clutch reservoir. Show Chrome makes them for the Wings. They fit our bikes perfectly too. You can get them for the right side as well. Hope this was helpfull and easy enough to understand. Larry
  4. I've got a 1 7/8" Drag Specilities tach mounted in a Arlen Ness bullet cup and attached with a Kurykyn "P" clamp. Check with DenDen as he has two tachs he told me he was going to sell. One came off his wrecked 01 (resvoir mounted Barons ) and the other from a bike he just bought to replace it. That one is a Drag Specilites, but don't know the size of it. It's mounted on the tank/ignition switch cover. Larry
  5. Thanks for the good reports guys. Yea this bracket is one of the things I've done with these bikes I'm happy to have shared with everyone here. Like I've said elsewhere it was just too good to not share. Larry
  6. I've rubbed a spot off the top from getting on & off the bike. Hardly noticable unless you look for it. But as noted the chrome isn't really chrome but a painted on process. Eventually I'll either have the cover rechromed or just spray paint it with chrome paint. Maybe even a wrinkle finish black would look OK. Anyhow I'll worry about that when the time comes Larry
  7. Not from your area but I'll offer up this suggestion. Go to several auto body shops and see what they'll charge you to paint your parts. It may not be too much if you're willing to disassemble/ reassemble the bike yourself. With being a single color just about any decent shop should be able to do the work. Larry
  8. Like Denny I upped the main jets one size over the stock jets and did the same for the piolts. I'm running stock Road kings and K&N filters in the stock air boxes. It does improve the bottom end and my mileage ain't bad either. I consistantly get between 42 & 46mpg up to about 65 mph and from 70-80 I'm averaging 38-40mpg. I can live with that easy enough. Oh I used to get the popping on decelleration too but that's gone now since rejeting. I'm still using the stock AIS system. Might get even more bottom end torque doing the Jason mod, but I'm happy enough with the performance so see no reason to do that yet. Larry
  9. Another electrical possibility here. You may not get full volume from the horn if using the bikes wiring. Use a 30amp relay to feed power dirctly from the battery to the horn (s). Then use the horns wiring to operate the relay. Larry
  10. Good to know that the Ride-On worked for you. I put some in my new Avon's last summer as well. No complaints so far and if I do pick up a foreign object I hope to have the same results as you. Larry
  11. OffDuty I can help you out here as well. I also live in S.E. Mich so may not be very far from you. Drop me an e-mail to set up a time. I'm currenty out of work so just about any time is good too. Larry
  12. While I can appreicate the work involved in building it I too have some very strong misgivings concerning all the blind spots trying to drive that rig. They should of built it like a dragster with the engine in behind the driver I think. Larry
  13. Check with Salty as he's done the trunk removal already. Larry
  14. Craig just sent out a copy of my wiring instructions by e-mail to you. It's what I give the guys who get a air horn but the electric ones hook up the same. In fact I have two of the Stebel electrics plus the air horn on my buike. Plenty loud enough I'd say. Larry
  15. I have the style of spot lights that have the switched on one of the housings too. And have eliminated from the circuit entirely. My system is wired up pretty much like Al done his too. My Showchrome switch box switches just close the ground circuits of the relays so no power goes thru them at all. Currently the Showchrome switch box turns on/off my low beam headlight, the spot lights, and the lights in my tack and volt meter. Larry
  16. Very nice & well wrttien Dusk. Larry
  17. I didn't know Tom but he's a member so that's good enough to call him a brother. Sorry to hear such sad news. My prayers for Sherry and the rest of family in these trying times. Larry
  18. Ok time to give a report on the c220 I bought. First I'm quite impressed with this unit for the price it cost. Got mine off e-bay for around $200. It's basicly the same unit as the c310 Chaos has with the exception of not having a mp3. It uses a externally inserted chip as opposed to the c310's internal one, and the units case color. I think that's it. It does have a couple drawbacks. One is it's hard to see the map on the screen in bright sunlight. In a car would be no problem thou. Also having a small screen makes it next to impossible to use with gloves on, especially gauntlet types. Both models aren't waterproof either so if it goes to raining you better put in a dry spot. All in all it does what I wanted out of a gps for the amount of money I was willing to spend. Larry
  19. You better thank your Guardian Angel for watching over you. Be VERY Thankfull too that the tire went flat at home and not on the road. Larry
  20. Well it certainly does look like these batteries have a varied life. Sorta like us I guess. LOL One thing that really threw me for a loop was how fast this one died. It made it all the way thru our winter here and even worked well right up until last Friday when it gave out. I put a battery tender on it off and on thru out the winter months here plus my garage gets heated most days so it never really ever got too cold. My first thoughts were that I was getting a battery drain somewhere but everything checked out good when doing some voltage drop tests. Once I got the battery full charged and did a load test on it it really showed then how bad it was. No capacity at all. Well since I already bought a replacement I'll stick with this until it acts up. Then I'll probably get an Oddessy as I've heard nothing but good about them. At least now I know I'm not the only one who's had to replace it after only a short time. Larry
  21. What's the average battery life on these bikes? My 05 Midnight's battery has already given up the ghost. Only has 16K on the odometer too. Anyone know if the warranty covers them? I've already bought and installed another one due to the fact we're having our first group ride tomorrow, plus the fact that we're having low-mid 70* temps and lots of sunshine both weekend days. No way was I going to be sitting home. I've got a 01 Suzuki Volusia that still has original battery in it with 20 k on the clock. Larry
  22. My winter / spring pricing special will end on April 29th. After that day I'm still offering the standard model at a $5 savings over what I charged when first offering the adapter on the market thou. As for the freestanding unit it is back to the original price but will include welded on foot pads for the removable legs. The shorter lift armed jacks such as Larin's will still have the added safety bar added at no extra costs as before too. Check post #1 or better yet go to the Classified section for all of the details. (2nd gen parts section) Thanks to everyone who have bought one of my units to date. Larry
  23. Well you've certainly been a busy guy there Leland. You did a first rate job wiring everything up too. Good work. Larry
  24. Chaos I really don't know. I looked at and played with a unit at Circuit City before deciding to go with this model. As far as I know it has the same features as the C310 minus the mp3. It does have the removable chip on the top right side. I should get it sometime in the first of the week. Larry
  25. Well I bought one of the C220 models today off e-bay. I paid just a bit more for it than the C310's were going for but I didn't need or want the mp3 system thus the reason for the C220 model. Plus it being black will match the bike better. Next I'll have to decide where it'll be mounted. Larry
