  1. I received a flyer in today's mail about a liquidation auction in Orlando, Florida. There's going to be a lot of Triumphs there as well as other vehicles. One bike will be Steve McQueens 67 Bonneville. Here's more info on it: MotorbiliaAuctions.com note: click on e-bay link to bid after you've registered as a participant World of Decor Auctions 1-800-645-8571 bidding starts at 10am Oct 7th Anyhow looks like a lot of sweet bikes there. Probably go for a couple or three of shiny pennies thou. http://www.volusiariders.com/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif For those in the Orlando area the stuff up for auction is at Motorsports Museum. Larry
  2. That's good info to know there Kit. Considering the availability of that scheduale 80 pipe and your suggestion of welding it anyhow I think one would just be better off buying standard steel and weld it up. At least that's what I would do. On standard piping I made a small lift that had a 3 or 4 foot lever that you pilled to raise a bike up on and then let the handle rest on the ground. Mine was made of the black pipe. While it was strong enough for a 550 lb Suzuki it was no where near strong enough for the RSV. Didn't break at my welds but sure bent that levered pipe. Larry
  3. Sorry to see ya dropped the bike. Looks like you need to either switch the galvanized piping to black iron or substitute steel. I would go with steel myself Good luck & let us know what fix you decided to use Larry
  4. Nothing like a project to keep ya busy. This one certainly will be an eye catcher too. Are you going to paint it to match the bike? Larry
  5. Joyce and I have already gotten our pass ports and I was totally supprised we had them returned so soon. Here's what we did. We went to a local CVS drug store and had our pics taken at $7 each. They gave us 4 pics of the required size and was done within minutes. Next stop was the post office for the forms. Took em back home to be filled out and then back to the post office. After paying and processing each of us as a single customer they sent out paperwork to the required departments. Paid cash to the postal employee who then converted that into a postal money order. 3 weeks later we have our passports in hand. We could of had the postal people take the pics too but they charge $15 each. I've heard of people who have taken as long as 3 months to get theirs back so was taken quite by supprise to getting ours so quick. Anyhow we're ready for tripping to Canada now. Larry
  6. Price looks good too. At least way better than our OEM's. Good thing I already have a spoiler light or I'd be tempted to get one. Hey maybe I will anyhow. Larry
  7. Wishing her well in her recovery here too. Listen to the docs even if it ain't what you want to hear. She'll back in good shape before you know it. Larry
  8. Nice to have that big Ford running blocker hey? Glad it was him and not you Larry
  9. As another rider here who has crashed this year I'm just glad to hear your injuries are none the worse for what you've gone thru. And yea gotta love these brain buckets too. I know for fact that they helped me and the wife in our crash. I know of a couple others around here with the same results. Now if we'd of been using all the ride gear we probably wouldn't had much other than bruises, as it was we got road rash but nothing extreme. Thank the Lord. good luck on your bikes repairs or replacement Larry
  10. I retired with 32 years under me at my county job in 98 at age 51 and then worked another 8 years as a golf course mechanic. Lost that job last year and been just doing odd jobs at home till now. I just recieved my disability staus from Social Security so am offically retired for good. Currently I'm 60. Like many here I should of planned better for these golden years but can't complain too much. I like these 6 Saturdays in a row too. I wanna be like Lowel too so hopefully soon I'll be following in his footsteps. Larry
  11. Well folks it's been just over a year this month that I first offered my lift adapters for sale here and I want to take this moment to say "Thanks for all of the support and encouragement I've received from everyone here". I had already been out of a job for the previous 6 months so the extra money I was able to make was more than welcome. It gave me a purpose in filling my days as well as keeping me busy enough so that I didn't go nuts. Officially I'm retired now but fear not as I'll continue offering these lift adapters to anyone who wants one. As noted above making them keeps me just the right amount of busyness. I've even had the highest form of flattery as someone copied my design and has sold them on E-Bay. Since I have no patient on them he's legal if not ethical. He's only done the Standard model and also doesn't offer the Larin Special versions. I don't think he sells many thou as i've seen nurmous times he's listed them and had no sales. So in this regard I thank everyone again who has bought the adapters thru me. Also while Thanking folks for their support & purchases of the lift adapters I want to say the same for those who have purchased my Stebel horn brackets. THANKS to all, Larry
  12. Prayers for you & family. Larry
  13. It's good to see another youngster taking an interest in the hunting and shooting sports. As a life long hunter and shooter I know our ranks are dwindling but including more youth can not but help us. Congratulations to Daughter & Mom for a fine day in the woods and with excellent results I might add. Larry PS: Jack you know now that the gun does indeed shoot straight so no excuses about any of those missed shots when you do manage to take one.
  14. I agree about keeping the original and perhaps doing up a limited version for those who would like something different. I'd buy either one thou Larry
  15. Thanks to everyone here for their concerns. The operation went much better than I excepted it to. The Doc did a preliminary test and said it was real good. The full success of this operation will be known after testing in 6 weeks. I'll do a follow up on this subject when I have more info. For those interested in what I had done you can read up on it here - http://www.cochlear.com If I'm feeling as well as I do now or better come Saturday I'll see a few of you at Floyd's BBQ. Also plan on attending the morning breakfast. Lewis (and otheres) Joyce and I are both pretty much healed up now. Still have some new skin to grow and color out & a couple of sore spots yet. Being older seems to take longer to patch ourselves up. As to the bike and my ins co, Progressive, they have settled with me. I'll be rebuilding the bike soon. I hope to get a majority of parts ordered by Monday. A few folks know that I am doing some serious mods to the bike while I'm rebuilding it. :cool10:Details and write up will follow. Larry

Hey Gary Glad to hear your operation went well too. Just seen this yesterday but finally getting around to posting. Hope to see you soon Larry
  17. I think this is a great idea too. And for all the reasons already given too. Myself I'm online here through out the day and evening so don't miss much going on here. But still it would be nice to have a refresher of topics posted. I also like the idea of being able to do print outs to hand to other interested persons about this great site. Or send a link to someone as needed. Larry
  18. Hi everyone. Larry's surgery went just fine. He's home and sleeping. They said the implant is working perfectly. Won"t know how much he'll actually hear for about six weeks, has to heal before they can attach mic. Thanks for all your well wishes. Joyce
  19. I filled one out not long after getting my 05 Midnight. Did like Don said. Just answer the questions as honestly as possible. Larry
  20. I was at a honda dealership tonight and there was a 07 Goldwing MotorTrike conversion on the floor. Asking price was 32k. Nice bike . Oh and that wasn't all dressed out like some Wings I've seen so safety chrome added on would easly push that figure into the 35-40k quoted earlier here. Nice but too nice for this poor ole boy here too. Larry
  21. My bike has the stock Road King mufflers on it and used to pop occasionally on decelerating as well. What I did was to change out the pilot jets for the next size up and also change the main jets up one size. You only need to buy two main jets and a set of larger pilot jets as two of the mains can be moved to another carb. I don't recall off hand which sizes needed to be bought but this topic has been discussed here before. Anyhow I no longer have that popping , have slightly better throttle response on low and mid range accelerating and fuel economy hasn't changed much if any. I consistently get 42-44 mpg cruising 55-60 mph and between 38-40 on the super slabs at 70-75 mph. When doing this you should also readjust the fuel mix screws and then a carb synchronize. You'll be pleasantly supprised with the results here after doing this Larry
  22. Sorry to hear of your friends accident as well Dog. I will pray that they too will have a speedy and full recovery from their accident. Keep us up to date on them. As much as I hated to have taken the fall I know very well how lucky Joyce & I were to have gotten away with so little damage to us. Our guardian angels were with us for sure that day. Please be carefull as possible out there folks. We need not add others from our membership to the list of fallen. Larry
  23. You guys are just trying to make me feel better aren't ya? And not the only dropee while there. :whistling:Seeing as I dropped mine big time at Vogel. Yea these things have a mind of their own at times. And once you get to a certain point there's no going back either. Larry
  24. Thanks fib & pegscraper. I did find the info after wading thru the posts. Coverting those numbers make the RSV a 3.33/1 ratio and the V-Max a 3.67/1 ratio which is what I was looking for. Larry
  25. His is a Velorex model. Not sure which one thou I'm thinking it's the 562 model. Could be very wrong there. I've been eyeing a few of the different companies who make them too and besides the Velorex models I liked the Texas Side Car Ranger too. Here's a couple links to them - http://www.velorexusa.com/index.shtml http://www.texassidecars.com/ Larry
