  1. A lot of pros & cons between independent suspension & solid axel trikes. After having one of each I would prefer independent suspension. You can't beat the ride quality of them over solid axles. Independent suspensions are generally wider as well, offering better road handling. Good luck Dan with whatever choices you make. Larry
  2. Heading out in the morning. Looks like weather will be chasing us getting there thou. Larry
  3. Chick magnet. The Slingshot not me. LOL
  4. I've always left my bike in gear when on the trailer. Hardly unlikely it'd come out of the wheel chock so there's 0 movement to begin with . Once strapped down fore and aft it ain't going anywhere. If the bike has to move enough to cause gear damage you've got bigger problems. Like a loose bike on your trailer. Larry
  5. Good trip and hope you enjoy a many a mile touring with your bike. Larry
  6. Dan you'd be looking at 12-16k depending on options. For info check with Hannigan, http://www.hannigantrikes.com/ you can't find a better trike combo than RSV/Hannigan
  7. You're on the right path. My 09 had to have two of the coils replaced. Fortunately my 09 was still under warranty but still cost me $100 at the dealership. They charged me extra labor for it being a trike. Bummer but after them having it a month I wanted it back yesterday. LOL Larry
  8. As with any new product there's things that could be improved on. Lots of aftermarket companies are starting to address the needs & wants of the owners. Corbin just announced storage units that will help to increase storage capacity a lot. A bit pricey but this is what happens sometimes with new products. Add a hitch like I did and tow just about any trailer you want. With 170 HP on tap and good gearing you're good to go. I agree it's more roadster than bike but you'd be surprised how bike like it feels like when driving it. Like anything its what appeals to you, be it cars, trucks, street rods, mc's. Larry
  9. Since I already made that choice it was hands down the Slingshot. Both for the extra safety built in and comfort. Didn't hurt to be cheaper than the Can Am either. I do realize it don't replace a motorcycle nor is it for everyone. I will say they've a blast to drive thou. Larry
  10. I doubt there'll be a color difference but they're only held on with double stick tape so it'd be easy to put them back on. Either Clearview or F-4 windshields with the vent is the best way to go. I've had both brands at one time or other and preferred the F-4. Larry
  11. Hear hear a round of applause for Jonsey. Which I'm sure is well deserved if Eck says so. LOL After all I do know he's a great guy. Way to go Jonsey for helping a brother in need. Larry
  12. Glad to hear there was no damages to you guys but the underwear. Bikes can be fixed or replaced you know. I'm sure you'll have the ride back to tip top shape in no time. Larry
  13. Thanks Owl. After jogging my memory you're right. I missed the potato creek m & e but did go to the potato creek international Kevin/Lead Wolf sponsored a few years later. Ah the memories. Larry
  14. Good discussion here. I've been to all Internationals but 3 of them due to conflicting schedules. I believe we could easily drop the door prizes, T shirts, and trailer raffle, making less work for the organizers. Which also brings up the question of finding the volunteers needed to take on the task of organizing an "International Rally". Without the folks who volunteer there wouldn't be any rally whether M&G, Regional, or International. So my thanks to all who do the leg work required in these doings. For me its all about seeing different parts of this great country and meeting fellow VR members while doing so, regardless of the type of meet being held. Larry BTW: I think the Fort Collins, Co International was the largest ever attended. Partly due to being the 2nd one held early in our VR history. I forget just now the exact year it was held thou. With well over 100 bikes being in attendance
  15. Ditto to John's statement Phil. See ya in a couple three weeks at the WNY Rally. Larry
  16. Well now Scott this is the 2nd M&G I had to miss. Hopefully the 3rd one will be a go. Glad to hear all who made it had a great time. Till next time friend. Larry
  17. I got home about 10:30 this morning myself. Like others I had a great week enjoying my time with everyone at the rally. Hope to see many more folks at next years rally, wherever that may be. Larry
  18. Well today wrapped up another great International rally for the books. Snarly Bill, wife Linda, Patti (B2Mom) & Don (B2Dad), Mike & Cheri, Don (Freebird), and anyone else on this years international rally committee did a great job. It's always nice to meet & make new friends as well as see old friends at these gatherings. Looking forward to see what the 2016 International will bring. I'll post up some pics once downloaded after I get home. Safe travels to all getting home. Larry
  19. Bad news none of us want to hear. Prayers offered up for a Complete recovery. Larry
  20. Having had a RSV with both a solid axle & an independent axle here's my .02 worth of experience. Regardless the brand of the bike a trike as a solid axle trike will never red as smoothly as one with independent suspension. For anyone serious about possibly wanting a trike my suggestion is to ride as many as possible so you'll know what they ride like. Don't be put off on first impressions either cause it takes some saddle time to learn trike handling quirks. An excellent source of info can be had at http://www.triketalk.com You'll find topics on all manner & makes of trikes there. Happy hunting, Larry
  21. I see you beat me getting to Plainfield John. I took the scenic route till I hit us 24. Oh yea that construction zone on 69 south of Gas City was brutal. The Canadian crew will hit that stretch in the morning. Cooling off now after a HOT days ride. Larry
  22. Yep They're first class there. That was one of the reasons that when I triked out my 09 I let them do the conversion. No problems whatever after picking it up after 5-6 days start to finish. They did do the paint work in advance. Looking forward to meeting you at the rally. Larry
  23. I'll hook up with anyone coming thru my area either Saturday or Sunday. I would prefer using the route going vie 23 in Michigan to 24 in Ohio to Fort Wayne then 69 to 70 by Indianapolis. BUT I'm willing to work with the group here. I'll go back and reread the posts here to see what ya all are suggesting. GaryN has a good suggestion on Michigan 12 too. Depending on which route the group decides on I could offer suggestions on where to meet on this side of the border. Larry
  24. I've tech welded stuff on bikes before with no issues, then removed the item for final finish welding. Larry
  25. Yep the entire trunk is tilted.
