  1. OK Folks I'll say we meet at the Leon's restaurant on Telegraph road in Taylor. I'll suggest kickstand time up at 8:30 as we're looking at about 2 1/2 hr drive to Freebirds place. Time may or may not change as I'll be looking at weather reports since as of now there's supposed to be a slight chance of morning rain. As we head south the weather should clear up. Time will tell on this. Larry
  2. I used Kurykyn 's Pilot Pegs with offset mounts & magnum clamps #4438. I didn't want big footrests thus going with these. And the offsets are plenty long enough as well. As others here say just adjust them them to clear the vents when they're open all the way. Here's a link to them -- http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp?bn=Harley&ci=3216 Larry
  3. Gary sorry for not including our cross the border brothers & sisters. Of course you're part of our group as well as many others. I did know that you, Brad & Lonna were going ahead a day or two thou. We'll see ya there. Larry
  4. Ok folks let's get a heads up here on who's going to Freebirds on Saturday? 1. Who's going to go in the morning and come back that evening? 2. Time & place to meet up for the ride down? I think this will depend on who's going where we meet so I'll hold off on suggesting a location till we see who signs on here. Larry Posted time & location on post #11
  5. What'd you except from Beer30 after a few too many brews.??? Forget that fine print stuff. Larry
  6. Yep those kind of mistakes sure get ones attention in a hury. Not only older & wiser but a few more gray hairs too I bet. Even seeing that axle about to fall off will get your heart pumping. Be careful folks, lifes short enough as it is. Larry
  7. Congratulations for Jeff. As all have said you're a proud Papa too. Mom is smiling from Heaven for sure. Larry
  8. Yep and I hope they throw the book at him & give the maximum sentence allowed by local law. Larry
  9. Wider then stock but not tinted. Supposed to be 1" higher than the stock shield but due to my front end being raked it falls either short or even with stock height. My passenger says she's getting too much wind so....... Larry
  10. I'll have a new (1 month old) Clearview XL shield w/vent (clear) for sale once it's replacement arrives. Just ordered that this week so looking at the 4-6 week delivery time here. If no one in this post puts dibs on it I'll be putting it in the Classifieds here. Larry
  11. I bought mine diect from the company and used our discount for reduced pricing. Used the stuff for two years but never had a flat or anything to cause loss of air. In fact I just added some to the trikes rear tires for as Floyd says-- peace of mind. Larry
  12. Scotty I like the way you think. Love your web site too. Good job on it. Larry
  13. We'll be at Skid's meet so going to Mark's memorial ceremony shouldn't be a problem as it's on the way home. A great way to honor him. Larry
  14. Many of us here have bought the air deflectors that Yamaha sells for these lowers. Here's a link from Yamaha's site -- http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/accessories/acscitemdetail/5/433/1812/11878/all/1/4607/0/detail.aspx Check some of the on-line vendors for better prices. http://www.mrcycles.com/ http://www.dgy.com/ http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/ http://www.zanottimotor.com/ You could also remove the fork deflectors by the forks and the clear deflectors that attach to the fairing for more air too. Larry
  15. Joe you can stop overr here and measure mine if you wish. And no mine aren't for sale as I'm using them. Larry
  16. I'll second Charlie here. While I knew some of the attendees there's always others who are new to me. As Charlie says you're no stranger to anyone once you sit down and start up a chat. Never been to a meet & eat or rally yet that wasn't overwhelmingly friendly yet. Don't think there ever will be one either as folks just seem to accept any and all. Larry
  17. Don is correct when he says the bearings have little grease from the factory. I pulled the trees out of my bike when I was converting it to the trike so they could be raked by Steer-Rite. Anyhow seeing as how little grease there was on the bearings I'm supprised that they'll even last 50k and I can see now why some folks have had to keep re-adjusting the bearings. Larry
  18. Drivers License and a birth certificate will get you home fine. Joyce & I are riding Friday afternoon with Al & Diane Friday to Brantford. Staying at the Comfort Inn and coming home Sunday morn. Interested?? Call us or drop a e-mail Larry
  19. Heading to MarCarl's Meet & Eat Friday. Coming home on Sunday. Sped Monday with family. Larry
  20. I have the Utopia backrest and wouldn't ride without it. I don't have the quick release model but I don't plan on taking it off anyhow. It being able to fold down for ease of passenger mounting/dismounting is nice. Makes it much more easy for the Mrs. getting off & on. As to adjusting the backrest angle I do that all the time as some times I like to lean back a bit more or if the back is acting up I might sit a bit more upright. Bottom line it's worth the costs to me. Larry
  21. Hi Lonna. Checking here to see if you and Brad are planning on attending Carl's meet & eat this Saturday?

If you are a couple of questions if I may. When you leaving and coming home? Where you lodging if staying overnight?

Joyce and I are making plans now to go. We'll know for sure as soon as we find a dog sitter for the mutts. Anyhow depending on when you leave we might hook up and ride out with you.

  22. You really don't need a "kit" . Just replace the mains 1 size up and the same for the pilot jets too as a starting point. I did that and I'm running the K&N filters in stock breathers and while the bike ran OK without rejets I feel that doing so gave the bike better low end and throttle response. It also inproves cold weather running. Mileage may have suffered a bit but not by much if any. On your set up you may need to go a little bigger than the 1 size up thou. Just depends on how lean the carbs are running as it is now. Stock pilot jets are #15, replace that with a #17.5. Stock mains are #117.5 , #120, & #122.5 (2each), replace only two of these , move the other two to a different carb. purchase a pair of #125 http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/ is a good source of carb parts too. I'll look tomorrow for the jet model #'s Larry
  23. When I had my Suzuki I used some of his ideas for the bike. As noted lots of great ideas there. One of a couple ideas I adapted to the Suzuki was the Audio-Vox cruise control system. In fact I do believe I was the first Volusia owner to adapter the A-V cruise system to this bike. Another idea was adapting the Harley fairings to the Volusia. I eventually migrated to the Ventures which come with these items already on. Anyhow great ideas from the site. Larry
  24. 41 years just this last month. Wow when you think of this it means we've both spent 2/3 rds of our lives together. Larry & Joyce
