  1. I have Progressive and when I first shopped for bike insurance I checked their web site. Seemed high so went to one of the independant insurance dealers. Much cheaper going that way. No idea why either as I was quoted at both places for exact same amounts of coverage. Allstate now covers mc's too but don't know what their rates are. I have Allstate on both my cars and house. But they won't cover a trike even thou Michigan considers it still a motorcycle. Larry
  2. I hardly doubt that I'll need any wrenching done on my bike but will be willing to lend a hand toothers if needed. Mostly I'm coming to socialize with everyone from the site. Larry
  3. Gonna have to agree with Don here as well. Yea it'd probably do the job but you can find cheaper and better jacks to do the job. Also most of the mc/atv jacks have a lift rating of 1500 lbs where this one list 1100lbs. I'll second BigBoys opinion on stroking that puppy too. Larry
  4. Don't these scammers ever give up? Been a while since receiving anything from these thieves but got this today. Goes to show they're persistant if nothing else. Be safe folks, Larry After waiting to hear from you or your Nigeria partners for a long time now. I decided to make this direct approach to you in other not to let it be as if I have anything in mind against you. I do not know if you have asked yourself why each time the release of this fund is approved, all of sudden, the payment will be stopped or one problem or the other will come up. If you have not asked this question or you do not know, this is an opportunity for me to tell you. Your names were used as a beneficiary of a monetary transaction. A long time ago, some Nigerian government officials approached me through my dear wife who works with the Federal Ministry of Finance and asked me to assist them conclude a monetary transaction they had with you, they requested me to assist them by removing the original name, company's name and the bank particulars from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) vetting and replacing them with your name and your bank details in order to make you appear as the rightful beneficiary of the fund. I agreed on condition that they would pay me US$300,000 as soon as your name appears as the beneficiary. I did as agreed and demanded to be paid but these fellows started giving me excuses. They even told me that you promised to send money to me, do you know that up till now, I have not received a single cent from them and have not set my eyes on any of them again. Based on what they did, I decided to stop the release of this fund Because I cannot be denied my right in my own office considering the risk as it might affect my job. Secondly, I knew the source of the fund that you did not in anyway have any monetary transactions in Nigeria, Although I am the only person privileged to know this information and it is a fact. Why I am making this clear to you is that I can see that you are oblivious of the whole thing they only used your particulars to carry out this transaction. Now that I have frustrated their evil plan; I mean to get this fund in your name for their own use without your knowledge. I want to use this medium to approach you to stand as the rightful beneficiary of this fund since everything was done in your name which no one can alter or mutilate any more. To this effect, I do not need the US$300,000 any longer from you but a good compensation that you think is suitable for me which my spouse will retrieve for me as soon as the fund is transferred into your account. One more thing, I need your assurance that my colleagues in the office will be totally kept out of this transaction. I know quite well that none of them is aware of my new approach to you. Kindly contact me on my private Email Address: ( drtundelemo229@gmail.com ) so that I could give you more information. Best regards. Dr. Tunde Lemo. 5. I mounted a pair of the chrome ones on the crash bars. Had one burn out during the fall so replaced both with the 35 watt bulbs, which I got from Home Depot. The reduced wattage still lights up the road good and being less drain on the bike electical system is good. Especialy if you have on the Yamaha passing lamps. To reduce risk of losing the retaining rings I drilled a small hole on the edge and put in a stainless steel screw. Larry
  6. Check the back of the spot light housing as well. Some have the switch mounted there. Larry
  7. Don't know Pete but if he's a brother of this site then that's good enough. Get well soon Pete. Larry
  8. No you won't be able to use the lift adapter after triking the bike. Reason being is the center of gravity will have shifted rearward and thus the current adapter will be too short. On my trike that center balancing point has shifted about a foot. Fear not thou as I have built a longer verision that attaches in the same manner as previous models. Drop me an e-mail and we'll go over the details further. Larry
  9. " Wonder why nobody makes a good screw jack for the bikes. My jack that comes with my truck is one of the best screw jacks I've seen...so easy to use and has no problem lifting the whole front end of the truck off the ground. hmmmm...wonder if I can modify it for the scoot????? " Now that's a neat thought. And if you didn't want to use the truck's jack the auto salvage yards always have em laying around. I've even considered getting some type of air assisted jack for myself. Larry
  10. While I have heard of some folks having problems with their Sears branded jacks (the red ones) I myself have used mine extensively for the last 8 years without any problems whatever. First using it with my Suzuki which weighed about 650 lbs and then the Venture at 850 lbs. Since last year I've used it on the trike which weighs in at 1260 lbs. Sears like many stores simply buy products from a manufacturer and simply slap their nametag onto the item in question. I feel this is especialy true with these style of mc/atv lifts. Are there better quality jacks? Of course but I do feel you get a quality product for the money. Larry
  11. As far as I know those who convert to trikes still use the factories rear shock, usually in conjunction with other shocks or air bags. At least that is the case with my Tri-Wing trike conversion. Larry
  12. Besides riding, planning trips on the bike and then traveling to those places picked out I enjoy Archery (especially 3-D types), shooting guns, camping, Photography, spending time with the grand kids and watching them grow and playing the sport of their choice - Hockey. Not in that order necessarily either. Larry
  13. Like many here I returned to riding again after raising a couple of younguns.Having had bare bones bikes in the past i knew I wanted a touring type bike but being a new'old rider decided it best to get a smaller /cheaper bike to see if I still wanted to ride that much again. Ended up buying a new 01 Suzuki Volusia thou I had my eye on the 2nd gen bikes since day one. Rode that bike for 4 yrs and decided by then it was time to get a touring bike with all the goodies. Wife and I went shopping for something that would please both of us. She liked the Wings seating while I didn't care for the drivers sitting. So went to the Venture across the room and sat on it. Yep we had a winner here. Couldn't close on a deal with the dealer we were at so started shopping the other locals who carried Yamaha's. After some searching we struck a deal for the 05 Midnight I have now. I put on as much mileage in 2 years on the Venture then I did on the Suzuki in 4 years. Almost all of them have been two up as well. As soon as I got serious about buying this bike I started researching web sites pertaining to them. After checking several out I must say I've found a home here. Thanks Don. Larry
  14. No problem Dave and I didn't consider it bashing either. For the record my pc had been shut down most of this week while I was renovating the spare bedroom where I have the pc set up. Thus may have been the reason for not answering. Have to go back thru all the e-mails during that time again as I must of overlooked yours. Sorry for the inconvenience. Larry
  15. LOL No problem Sylvester. Just sent you a pm with the ad links. Any questions just ask. Larry
  16. Hi Dave Ok The easyest way to resolve this problem will be to put the rod throught the first 3 holes with the handle facing forward (or rearward if you prefer), then bend the rod just enough to allow it to slip into the outer hole of the adapter. Once the rod is pushed in far enough then turn the handle 180*. This should lock the adapter up solid to the bikes frame. There has been a couple of other customers that has has this occure to them and doing the above adjustments have resolved the issue. As everyone noted I will stand behind my lift adapters. And to date haven't had anyone ask for a refund or replacement yet. Knock on some wood now. I'll be adding this info in my instructions. Larry
  17. Gotta agree with Gunny here since I've put over 11k on my bike since triking and have had no problems to date. I believe that since Ken has put at least 5 k on the bike since doing his trike conversion that the trike kit conversion isn't even close to the cause. Lack of cooling or lubrication has to be the problem causing this (or other) pistons failure. Whether Yamaha will stand behind their warranty or not remains to be seen. Surely hope that they will do the right thing by Ken here thou since many of us bought these bikes partly due to such a long warranty being offered. Larry
  18. Congratulations Jeff on getting started on your trike. The trikers & sidecars are growing by leaps now within the site. I hope you have decided to add a rake to the steering forks. While another expensive item it does make handling the bike a lot easier. I know I'm glad I did mine. Once you get it back take your time getting used to the handling characteristics of the trike. Hope to meet you at one of the meet & eats or rallies this next summer. Larry
  19. Count me in as another texter. Like a couple others here I can no longer hear on a phone, haven't in fact for years. With texting ability I can now communicate with family & friends. Larry
  20. Always sad news indeed to hear of another member passing on. Darrell is right in measuring his wealth not in riches but by whom he calls friends. Many who call this site their second home can be counted as his friend, even those who he had not met. Prayers for Darrell's family during these trying days. Rip Darrell. Larry
  21. Welcome back Jack. Knew you couldn't stay away too long. This place is too addictive. Good to hear that life is looking for for you once again. Like Squid says we'll have to hook up after spring breaks thru this fridged weather. Oh ya congrads on the new ride and girl friend too. Larry
  22. It sure does. must some of the new cloaking paint that makes it invisible. Larry
  23. Yea I know I was going out on limb here a bit saying there was no drivel. Compared to some sites thou we have next to nothing. I'm good with that thou. Did you say gruel & ment cruel Mraf? Larry
  24. This will get interesting. I'm marking the page now. Larry
  25. While one can find the post counts if inclined I do like the way Don has it now as they're not out in plain view. Some bike sites I frequent (most in fact) show a posters post count under their names. As noted some folks get a kick out of being a post hog. Posting nothing but drivel etc. I'm happy to say I don't see that here. Larry
