  1. We're staying at the Oberlin Inn also. Wife called yesterday checking for cancellations. Got one. Actually we've been calling all along but this was the first time a non-smoking room was available. So our Super 8 room has been cancelled. Larry
  2. Ian it's only about 33-35 miles from the bridge to the exit 15 so on a good day you're looking at about 45 minutes - 1 hour tops if dodging those construction cones. Speaking of: I know I-75 south of the bridge has been under construction and what detours they have in place I don't know. They may have signs up wanting to take you west on I-94 to I-275 and then back to I-75. Going that way is way out of the way thou. You'd be better off taking secondary roads and reconnecting on I-75 past the construction zone. I'll see if I can find out more on this before Friday. Larry
  3. It is by me. If anyone thinks that that time will be changed let me know. My phone number is in my profile here on the site. We just got back from checking out that area to see what there were in facilities there. Two gas stations -- A Pilot gas station just down the street and a TA service center right at the exit corner. Across the street is a Big Boy restaurant and a Denny's next door. Set further back behind the Big Boy is a Cracker Barrel restaurant. Any one of those three restaurants are fine by us. I'll let you all chose what you prefer there. I'll be waiting for everyone to arrive in the parking area in front of the TA Service Center. Larry
  4. Once you open the assistance list click on the State/Providences. You'll still have to wade thru the list there too thou. Larry
  5. Now we know what can be done with these antiques when put to pasture. Larry
  6. I keep a spare key in my wallet, which has a spot just for that. Two slots actually so keep a truck key there too. Ya never know when they might be handy. Larry
  7. Thanks for the reminder here. Larry
  8. As at the past two International Rallies I'll be donating another Freestanding lift adapter. I'll probably also donate a couple horn brackets and whatever else I find I'm not using. I'll bring the items with me. Larry
  9. Yep those linch pins work great. Several others have added them to their lift adapters. I haven't done so with the kits as to keep costs down. Thou I supply a bolt and nut I only use a bolt myself. Just slip it in place while the bike is in the air. On getting ready to raise the bike off the stand I pull all the bolts first and then raise the bike enough till the legs drop out of the way. Larry
  10. Dag nabit Froggy this just isn't right and you know it. And here I was thinking I been getting off to a late start this ride season. Well I guess caging is better than sitting home and crying in your cup. See ya at Don's afterall. Larry
  11. Wow Bob that sure looks nasty. Good thing you have a spare wire harness too. Even then you're looking at some serious wrench time. Like you said I hope you fried nothing more than wire. Gotta get the beast done before Don's M.D 3 weeks away. Good luck. Larry
  12. There's a Pilot gas/service center just to the right of the exit ramp after getting off I-75. There's also a couple of other gas stations and restrauants nearby as well. The Pilot station makes a nice meeting location cause you can see anyone coming off that exit ramp as well as they being able to see anyone parked. I'll get a better list of what places are there. I think there's a Denny's and a Big Boy restrauant if anyone wanting to grab breakfast/lunch/whatever. Larry
  13. That time line would be fine and no it's not too early. I figured we'd see what time you folks would be attempting the river crossing and knowing approximately how long it takes to go from there to exit 15 we would plan accordingly. I also realize that that getting across can be either a breeze or a royal pain, depending on volume of traffic and such. Larry BTW: We booked our room at the Super 8 for Friday & Saturday. The Oberlin hotel had rooms available yet but no non-smoking ones.
  14. I've updated my info for the reservation. Wow counting heads here and this looks to be another record setting event for you Don. Talk about an invasion. Larry
  15. Joyce and I will be going to Don's Friday as well. For you guys coming thru the Detroit area and heading down I-75 we could meet you at exit 15 near Monroe. We're about 20-25 minutes north of that and coming down I-275. Exit 15 is just a few miles south of where the two freeways merge. So if we knew the approximate time you'd be coming thru we'd hook up with you all there. Larry
  16. PM sent on testing proceedures. Larry
  17. pm answered
  18. Folks who may be planning on doing a tire change at Don's maintance day I have a new in the wrapper Avon 130 sized front tire. Got it last fall and was going to use it on my bike but decided to stay with the 150 size cause of the bike being triked now. Make me an offer or possible trade. I'll bring it with me to Don's maintance day. Larry
  19. Anyone bringing a cb antenna tuner? I think a few of us could benefit from having their antennas tuned. Would like mine checked since it's been replaced once. Larry
  20. Check your other post --> http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=35663 to which I replied with info. Hope this helps Larry
  21. Here's a partial copy of the wiring instructions I send out with my horn brackets. Wiring is fairly simple as well since the horn kit comes with a 30 amp relay. You will use the existing stock horn wires to activate the relay, which in turn will power the horn. 14 or 16 gauge wire is recommended to get full power to the horn from the battery lead, as well as the ground. Using a 15 amp fused line direct from the + post of the battery connect the wire to #30 on the relay. Then run a wire from the #87 post of the relay to the + terminal of the horn. Next run a wire from the -- terminal of the horn to a ground location. I used the same place as the battery cable goes to and the horn bracket fastens to the engine case. Plug the Brown connector of the stock horn into the # 86 post of the relay and the Pink wire connector to the #85 post of the relay. You can bend over the terminals once you put the wires on to gain more clearance for the exhaust pipe. Note: The Brown wire of the stock horn could be a different color depending on the year of the bike. Regardless of color though it will have power to it when the key is turned on. You can use a 12 volt test light or a volt/ohm meter to be sure. The Pink wire goes to the horn button. In operation the relay will have full battery voltage at the #30 post of the relay as long as you have a good fuse & connections. The #86 post is on when the ignition is turned on. Once you hit the horn button it will ground the contacts inside the relay and allow power to go to the #87 post which then activates the horn. You must still have a good ground for the horn to work though. You can use the wiring harness you bought. Just be sure the wires coming from the relay match up with the locations on the bike per my instruction. You should be good then. Larry
  22. Haven't used one of those wiring harnesses and considering that they're a gentric set up may be completely backward from the Ventures requirements. Can you post on here the wiring harnesses wiring schematic. Knowing how they want you to hook it up could tell us what you need to do to correct it. If it's causing the horn to imediately sound when the key is turned on you're bypassing the horn button portion of the bikes circuit. Larry
  23. While there's more room to mount fuse holders under the fairing I personally think you're better off mounting one by the battery. Much easier to access in the event you have a blown fuse to replace. Mounting by the battery under the seat all you'll need to remove is the 2 seat nuts, lift off the seat and you're there. The fairing has at least a dozen screws to take off and if you don't have a light bar mounting block the light bar will have to be loosened quite a bit as well. Larry
  24. I'll 2nd Dan here too. Don't have any extra parts laying about thou. Just glad you're still with us and willing to still ride even on 3. Looking forward to seeing what your bike will be like when finished. Got any questions pertaining to trikes feel free to ask. Larry
  25. Plenty of brackets still available and I also include easy to use wiring instructions. Larry
