Wow Carl it's tough to see a report like this. As said we are also glad no one was hurt. Hopefully your insurance company will do right by you in getting a fair settlement and a fast turn around for your buildings replacement. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Larry & Joyce

Wow Puc we're sure glad to hear Tippy is on the road to good health now. Yep it can be trying times figuring out what ails us at times. Wishing & praying you and her the very best to a healthy new year coming up. Take care and we'll hopefully see ya 'all sometime. Larry -
might be buying 05 rstd
Carbon_One replied to cruiserlover's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Welcome back. Since you're familiar with the Royal Stars you should know what to look for as to any potential problems. As to which of the two you'll be looking at I'd say get the one you'd feel most comfortable owning. There isn't that much of a difference in pricing unless one or the other offers even more of a deal to get it sold. Good luck on which ever one you decide on. Larry BTW: I also owned a 01 Volusia prior to getting my 05 RSV. They're good bikes but not in the touring class of ride comfort. -
15 year old on a Allstate scooter then moved on to a 150 Honda Dream in 65. From there I had several other Honda's with each move going up in cc engine size. 250 cc, 305 , 450 cc's. Finally into the big bike class with a 68 650 BSA. After riding that bike a number of years I got a H-D Sportster 800, 68 kicker with a mag. Eventually the next bike was another Sportster, a 72 AMF model. The 68 was actually a better bike over the 72 was. So newer isn't always better. After getting rid of the 72 I didn't ride for a while then in 01 bought a new Suzuki Volusia 800. Mama decided she wanted to ride more but wanted something with a lot more comfort thus we chose a new 05 RSV and drove that bike till it got totaled in 12. Bought a 09 to replace that and drove it till last year when we switched to a Polaris Slingshot. Also picked up a 83 Venture between the two RSV's and still have that too. Thus my ride history in a nutshell. Larry

I think its fine as is for now. Maybe a bit of site tweaking later on if you see its needed. I think this site is much more about the people & the interactions who are members now as the bikes are. Its only natural for folks to fad away from the site after switching to other branded bikes, even those who have given up riding altogether. I for one have really enjoyed this site over the years, since 05, and the members I've gotten to know, both in person and just thru this site. We try to attend as many get togethers, Meet & Eats, and rallies as they come along . Doing that we've gained many people we call friends throughout the country that we would never have met otherwise. And for that I'm thankful for this site. Larry

Totally agree with Carl about Ben's Motel. Last year was our first time staying there. Price was reasonable & loved that it was close by. While the Springville motel is nicer you do drive further with a bit more costs per night. Looking forward to being at WNY Rally again.

Rossboyd, Puc is right about looking thru all the clues for finding the cause of a wobble. However he is wrong on the one count of it being me making fork braces. I'm not sure just who does but someone will come along soon letting you know. Sure hope you do find out what's going on as it can be frustrating chasing down problems like this at times. Good luck, Larry

The son just had his replaced recently too. But he did have insurance on it so no out of pocket expense on his part. Bummer for ya Jay. Larry

I HATE when people mess up my stuff through ignorance.
Carbon_One replied to Flyinfool's topic in Watering Hole
I hate those Scot Lock connectors. IMO they always cause more problems down the road, even when used inside a vehicle. I toss them when found. Larry -
I have one from a rsv that may work if interchangeable with your 97. How long does it need to be? Larry

Non- vet here but for sure have y'alls back. Whether by choice or draft ALL vets have my respect. Larry

Has anyone ever put a side car on their RSV
Carbon_One replied to stickhandle2's topic in Watering Hole
While I did have a rig for a while it never got attached to the intended 83 Venture. Someone from Ohio saw me mentioning it on the sidecar forums, made me an offer I couldn't refuse so I sold it. Mostly cause I just don't have the room in my garage for a side car rig and a trike, Check out http://sidecar.com/ for a ton of info on them. Larry -
Rode thru there in "11" (I think it was) during the International rally the club held that year. I for one am another looking to repeat that trip. Once is just not enough ya know. Larry

Ya Puc one learns just where those wheels are so those pot holes can be avoided, hopefully. Like you said just miss with a front wheel and the same with the rear wheel(s). I don't think it makes much difference whether you have one wheel or two in front as to being user friendly. I guess it might if a new rider had never ridden a mc or conventional trike and simply got on a reverse trike from the get go. In that case ones driving experience in a car would most likely dominate their driving style. One other thing I've found in my experience of 3 wheeling is the width of the wheels track width. Some bikes have a rather narrow axle such as the Harleys and my RSV/Tri-Wing conversion with solid axles. The Hannigan on the other hand has a nice wide width due to design of independent suspension. My Slingshot is even wider yet thus make it even easier to get past those pot holes. Larry
-
Puc all 3 wheelers suffer when trying to avoid bumps and mostly pot holes. Some times one can straddle a pot hole if conditions are right and if there's only one to navigate around. Throw in a bunch of them thou and about all you can do is try to avoid the worst ones. Even 4 wheelers can't always avoid those numerous holes we seem to have here in Michigan.

Trike time, picked up a GW GL1800 w/Champion kit
Carbon_One replied to Mike G in SC's topic in Trike & Sidecar Talk
Welcome to the world of 3 wheels. Yep there'll be a short learning curve but nothing that time and miles won't cure. Have fun and enjoy the new wheels. Larry -
For all the reasons folks have taken a fuel bath is the reason I designed the transfer system I use for the auxiliary tanks. While I do love Hannigan's trikes I do feel they've dropped the ball on this issue as far as safety goes. The potential for a massive fire and perhaps even death is just too great IMHO. When I first did my transfer system I even gave Hannigan my drawings and specifics as too what I use for my auxiliary tanks. Apparently costs and maybe time had over ruled safety concerns. To be fair I have no idea if there has ever been a fire due to over filling a main tank but I do know there's been a lot of "educated" riders who've taken fuel baths. And not just on these RSV either. So for those of you who have the Hannigan auxiliary fuel systems do be careful & safe while transferring fuel. Larry

Hey Yammer dan, Still considering a trike?

Knew you'd be happy Craig. No time to relax now for you but when you get back from your trip I suspect we'll be seeing your 2 wheeler going on the market. Looking forward to more ride reports later on. Larry -
Good luck with the new bike Craig. I'm sure you'll have a new love affair riding on 3 wheels. As for the fuel transferring the guys pretty much covered that. I will add that anyone wanting a better & safer fuel transferring system just let me know. My system works great, just like big trucks do that have dual tanks. Simply toggle a switch to the desired tank. Larry
