I belive that once you put Ride-On in it's there for the life of the tire. Larry

If I recall correctly it was a small block 350 Chevy engine with auto trans. Larry

I'm with ya all the way on this. You can increase the sound without losing performance and hearing and still make the bikes sound good. Like most laws on the books there's others already there covering these situations that just need enforcing. Larry

I've seen that trike before. 3 years ago at a Trike Riders International rally in Mo. It actually won 1st place in the custom trike category. Larry

I should mention that my speedo is reading calibrated speeds now too so that alone will show lower mpgs. Larry

I saw this today on the web and thou I don't think it would concern most of us I know it could effect some here. Larry http://portal.wowway.net/news/read.php?rip_id=%3CD9I6VPMO0%40news.ap.org%3E&ps=1011

I think that's about what I get towing the trailer. I do avg around 32-34 as a rule. The Hannigan also runs a lower gearing thus effecting it. 3:73 on the Hannigan opposed to 3:42 on the Tri-Wing which means at 70 you'll be running about another 250 rpm's. Larry

Awesome and mighty nice of you to do that for that family. Tipping my hat to you sir. Larry

Don don't forget to let us know when traveling thru s.e. Mich. Any day, any time is good. Man talk about a road warrior. You probably could put some OTR truckers to shame what with all the traveling you do. Larry

I agree with what the guys here have said so far. As far as I know Hannigan and Tri-Wing are the two companies doing trike conversions for the Ventures. The differences are: Hannigan is dealer installed deal only. It has independant suspension, a bit more storage space, and now offers an auxilary gas tank. Tri-Wing can be installed be either the owner or have a dealer do the job. It has a solid Ford axle, and more traditonal body styling. No auxilary fuel tank that I know of but I built my own. You can save yourself a lot of money doing the work yourself if you're a capable wrencher. As said neither have reverse but you'll learn quite quickly where and how to park. And whichever conversion one decides to use by all means rake the front trees. Larry

You'll need the lift adapter due to the engine protuding below the frame. You'll also need the safety bar I add for under 13" jacks as well. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=500&ppuser=161 Larry

Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance: Coast to Coast
Carbon_One replied to mini-muffin's topic in Watering Hole
Too bad the route they're taking wasn't closer to me. Would love to see them myself. Larry -
That's an interesting concept for the Powerbuilt jack. My only concern with it would be perhaps the stability of a bike on it depending on the jacks width compared to a standard ATV style jack. As far as t he center lift pad I would think that could be easly removed when being used on the bikes. Larry

I could see using that type of car wash to get the bike clean but for sure I wouldn't be siting on it either. Park the bike and get off, let the machine do the job and then ride it out. Larry

I'd give the wheel bearings a thoroughly going over. Sounds like to me while going straight they're making noise but when leaned over the bearings are being loaded up differently thus taking away the noise and vibrations. Above 30mph you probably can't hear them. Raise the front wheel off the ground and the place one hand on the axle shaft and then spin the wheel with the other. you may feel or hear the bearings acting up then. Good luck Larry

Sounds interesting. May well join in on the fun and will keep an eye for further info on this M&E Larry

When I first triked my bike I was running the smaller Avon tire. It wasn't long before I replaced it with a stock Bridgstone in the 150 size. This tire was given to me (used tire) so went ahead and used it and got some decent milage out of it before it gotten cupped to bad. When I replaced that tire last spring/early summer I bought a rear Bridgstone in the stock size. So far I like that on the trike as it appears to be wearing well, tracks great in the rain, etc. Currently I think I have just under 8k on it with no noticable wear. I may try a radial type next go around if I find a tire I like, meaning good water sheding thread, just to see how it handles with radials front and rear. Bottom line at this point for me is I would be totally happy with another Bridgstone rear tire again up front. One other point some trikers do is reverse the rotation of the tires. I've mounted mine in the normal direction with the thought that water is shed better. I've never had a traction problem yet regardless of how much rain we've ridden in. Larry NOTE: I stand corrected on the tire brand I'm currently using. It's a Dunlop 404 rear tire NOT a Bridgestone brand. The previous tire was a Bridgestone thou and was a conventional front tire.

Stebel air horn bracket
Carbon_One replied to Carbon_One's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yep the brackets are available still. Here's a link to the ad in the classifieds -- http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2770&title=stebel-horn-bracket&cat=7 as well as my other items - http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=500&ppuser=161 Larry -
Bumping this back up so the planning commitee might see it. To those who it concerns on the planning commitee if there needs more time for finalizing a host hotel then that's fine. I just want to get my room booked early so I'll have choices for ammenities, etc. Larry

Congratulations Jeff. I know we talked about you doing this before but though you was going to go back to the sand box 1 more time. Once was enough I guess. LOL Anyhow I'm wishing you the best of luck with your new business venture. Larry

Quote: I'm not by any stretch of the imagination saying to be stupid and ride like an idiot, but when your number is called, it doesn't matter whether you're getting out of bed getting your slippers on, or whether you're running downhill next to an accelerating big rig. Life's too short, don't sweat the small stuff. While that's true we certainly don't need to temp fate by being careless or taking undue chances like riding besides a truck rig for any distance. Larry
