Due to it's size I'm presuming it'll be a camper of sorts. Right or wrong? If it's going to be a camper then will it raise up for additional height inside? Just curious is all. Good luck with the build and like Squidley says keep us entertained. Larry

Big Bore Kit inquiry
Carbon_One replied to VentureT's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There's been a few folks who have installed V-Max heads on the engines but I've never heard of any bigger bore kits. Larry- 17 replies

I had either a 67 or 69 Spitfire myself. Been looking for another one that fit the pocket book but no go so far. Larry

That sounds like an excellent plan Dray. Now we'll need to figure out a date for this. Can't be too early in the spring nor too late in summer and certainly not near MD or Internaional rally times. Oh Don Detroit is just like any other big city, much like Cleavland, Cinicy, Pittsburgh to name a few. Larry

Had to pick a handle for when I first stated using the website fourms and at that time I was heavy into archery. While memebers of my archery club had used carbon arrows I was the first to use both a carbon bow and carbon arrows together. Rather then beating my brain coming up with something for the bike fourms I just stuck with the Carbon_One handle. I like to tell folks I'm the orginal not a carbon copy. LOL:cool10: Larry

To answer some questions I'll start about the bikes. As far as I know no one offers a reverse for the Yamaha Venture thou I have seen a couple pics of some home brewed versions. I'm not sure just how well they worked either as I've never seen any write-ups on them. Both Harley and Honda do have reverse available for their touring bikes. I think BMW also offers a reverse for one of their bikes as well. Have to confirm that thou. Hannigan builds conversions for all four companies. Tri-Wing is the only other one offering a kit for the Ventures. For the other three there are numerous choices to choose from for a trike conversion. I would chose which bike you like first then pick one of the conversion companies to do the job. Also once you have something in mind look around at the used market as there's always plenty for sale there as well. And last there are the car type trikes such a the Stallion, Boss Hoss, and VW trikes out there. Those all can be had with auto trans if desired and all have reverse. You are wise to consider making this move now before you have a serious accident. Once on three wheels you'll feel much more secure in knowing you won't be falling down. Ya there's a few quirks to learn about triking but that's true with anything you do. In no time at all you'll be out enjoying being in the wind. Larry

Buddy sorry to hear of your Fathers passing. Payers for you & family. Larry

When I had my bike on two wheels ZI just mounted the side markers to the bag rails. I also converted the reflector to a led light set up. JCW sells the led lights as a replacement for the Gold Wings. It's a perfect fit. I ran the wires thru the crash bar and made the connection under the seat. Less than 1" of wire is exopsed on the backside and hard to see unless one looks for it. Larry

Rear mono-shock replacement questions:
Carbon_One replied to Semi-retired's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My OEM shock went south at 20 k, leaking oil, etc. Thou there was still some factory warranty left I decided to go with a Works shock. Ya it was a bite in the a** paying for it but since installing the Works I've had no problems since. Currently I have between 22-24k on the Works shock. Larry -
Hope your Father is doing better now. Prayers for him and family. Larry

Bought the bike Memorial Day weekend and was signed on here within a couple days in 05. This is the best bike related site I've even been on thanks to Don's fore site and hard work of him and his moderators of what this club should be all about. My first actual meeting of any members was shortly after meeting Squidly and about a dozen characters for a meet & eat in Port Huron. Close to half of them canucks too. Then off on a 200 + mile jaunt to round out the day. All told I rolled out about 300 mikles that day and knew I'd found a home of like minded folks. Larry
