  1. For anyone whom I may have missed from this area going to Don's MD here's the plan. We'll be meeting up near Monroe at exit 15 & I-75 at the TA travel center Friday morning. Kickstands up at 10 am. Also some of us will be arriving earlier (about 8:30) and having breakfast at Denney's restraunt across the street. From there we'll be taking a leasurely ride to the hotel/Don's using mostly secondary roads. Staying off freeways as much as possible is the goal. Currently it looks like we'll head up 8-10 riders for this group. Hope to see you either there or at Don's. Larry
  2. You need to punch a small hole near the top of the filler neck to allow trapped air to escape. Larry
  3. "We will not judge other bikers on their choice of machine, their appearance, or their profession. We will judge them only on their conduct as bikers." I agree 100% with this statement. Larry

Now see what you done started Joe. This is one thread where the edit feature changed the whole meaning/intent of the orginal post. Larry
  5. Now that would have to be pretty good since my favorite is Butter Pecan as well. As to the original topic here Michigan requires a helmet so I wear one. Half helmet to be exact like the motor patrol here uses. But it's alway on my head regardless of the states requirements I visit. As to ATGATT I wear either a mesh jacket or a light weight nylontype most of the time. Thou I do at times ride with just a shirt & jeans. No flip flops or shorts here. Larry.

  9. As Taz says you'll probably need to tighten up the neck bearings. It does make a huge difference after doing that. Ez Steer recommends 25 ft lbs of torque. That's a bunch more them Yamaha says in the service book. My trike is raked and only rarely gets to shaking the front end. Mostly when going over rough roads or rail road tracks. Hope this helped, Larry
  10. What you want is for the oil level to reach just to the bottom edge of the axle tube section. That way there'll be just enough oil being splashed on the axle bearings to keep them lubricated. Regardless of the type of axle used. To clarify, the vent tube on my axle is in the cast iron section of the carrier assembly, not on the steel tube itself. So even without tubes you should have room for a vent because you still have the u-joint flanges outboard of the carrier assembly. Larry
  11. Nice pics and I knew I'd be missing some fine folks & riding. Glad ya all are having a good time. Larry
  12. Chad add a couple of gaskets for me. Part numbers -- 3JP-15461-01-00 left crankcase cover 2 4NK-15462-00-00 clutch case cover 3 Larry
  13. Tri-Wing puts a vent on the right side of a flipped Ford solid axle, on the differential case tube. I've read somewhere the vent needs to be on this side due to the ring gear being able to throw oil out if placed on the left. Also Jonesy is right about the amount of oil used. Any more then that and you'll eventually blow out an axle seal. Hope this helps ya, Larry
  14. Annie may have a problem with those wheels Carl. Steering is on the wrong side for her to start with. Larry
  15. Sorry to hear this news Dray. We'll miss you for sure. Larry
  16. Sorry to hear of your mishap but glad it wasn't too serious. Like all have said take time to heal up and then give it another go. Larry Oh better their bike being dropped then yours too.
  17. Like a couple others here I've been a wrench just about all my life. Never having worked in a dealership thou but for county. We serviced just about any and all types of vehicles they bought over the years for the police departments, general supervisors, airport departments, etc. I have also owned a wide variety of makes, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, VW bugs, Datsun (Nissan now), & KIA over the years. All have good and bad features IMHO. Some more then others of course. Some had mechanical problems others with bodies rusting away, mostly back in the 60's & early 70's. Today I own a "01" Dodge 4x4 pu, "07" Mustang convertible, and a "11" KIA Sorento. Gotta say thou I've been really impressed with the two KIA's I have owned. A "07" Sportage prior to the current Sorento. BTW the Sorento is made in the USA down in Georgia. I think for the most part today's cars & trucks are way ahead in serviceability and quality. My purchases had as much to do with what we wanted & liked in a vehicle and who had the best deal, getting the best bang for our hard earned money. Bottom line is buy what you like as you only need to please one person (2 if including the spouse) . Larry
  18. Cool roads. Remind self to stay away from the 105 & 110 interchange in La. Larry
  19. And nothing has changed since has it? Larry
  20. Me too since the front works then the stock fuse for that circuit should be good. Back to the testing. Larry
  21. Dick send me a pm on contact info. Larry
  22. Nice color choice. Looking forward to seeing you on it here in the states Annie. Larry
  23. Don't overlook the stock horn fuse either as it may have tripped with the bad relay. If that's good then you have to dao as BongoBob says. Start rechecking for power and ground at the various points the wires connect to. Larry
