Thinking of you this morning and here if needed ..... I guess no more three stooges acts for a while. Hey I have more tent pegs!

Check out the attached file for a ramp to load your NEXT toy. Have not built one or seen this in person but looks like it might work well. Note he also mentions 3/4" plywood extended over tailgate, I also like the idea mentioned above of making a "brace" and using hitch.

Just spoke to Randy (8:30 AM) he is sitting at the VA waiting to see the doctor (optomologist). Mad at himself for dropping the bike, said Ms. Linda was ok just a little sore and stiff. Will update if I hear more ...

I had all kinds of dash and light problems with my 83 VR. Everytime I would check something, another problem would show up. Repeated checks gave different results. Headlight, Dash lights, turn lights, tach acting crazy, you name it I had it. So after much head scratching and use of words I can not print here, I decided to look for something that was "common" to every circuit giving me trouble. Everything pointed to the CMU, so took everything out of the way and opened it up and after very close examination with magnifying glass found 2 of the four main pins had cold joints so I redid the mall and put it back in - well every thing work so I called it a night and would put it back together the next day. Next day problems every where AGAIN! To sum it all up finally trace it to the black wires at CMU plug, bad connection at plug. Got that one connection good and problems all gone and have stayed gone. May not be your problem but it is one more thing to check out .... Good luck ...

Pitbullstew (Stewart), Thank you for stopping in to talk with us and you are always welcome here no matter what or if you ride. A bike that was manufactured in 1984 is going to be dated (glass fuses) and need some work. Parts are out there, the common stuff like tires are avaiable from many sources. This 84 you are looking at may not be the bike for you and that is a okay. My 83 was a bucket of bolts and two wheels when i got it. Through the folks in this forum not only have I learned what I needed to to bring it back to life, I have gained many friends. My reason for picking my 83 seems to be at odds with what you are looking for. I WANTED a bike I could get my hands on, working or just "tinkering with my Blondie" is part of the joy of ownership. IF you want a bike that you do not want to work on then buy something much newer, ride for a few years and trade. But I will tell you this, when people see my bike and comment they are surprised it is nearly 30 years old and when the young guy that lives down the road rides by the house on his crotch rocket he always sounds his horn, not to say hello to me, but to remember that a 55 year old man on a 30 year old bike left him in a cloud of dust wondering what happened. Again thanks for coming by, kick you shoes off and enjoy. When you get your motorcycle post some pictures so all can enjoy!

Condor's remarks seem right on the money. To check the diaphragms, remove the four covers and gently ease the rubber loose and hold them up to a bright light and check for pinholes. Search the forum and you will find some repair ideas as a temp fix, replacement is best and info for them is also on the forum. The idle jets may not "cleanup" by it but if reading post you will see many "feed" these bikes a dose of "Seafoam" found at most auto supply stores and Wal-mart. Yes it will make the bike smoke and smell like crap but sometimes it does help. (it can also "foul" plugs but it takes a lot of it) My 83 sat for three years and it made a big improvement. Hope you have great success and welcome to the forum. The only "dumb" questions are the ones you don't ask! Wish I was closer so I could stop in and help get it going!

While it may involve a few steps check out PDF995 Signature (www.pdf995.com) a free program might fit your needs. Make documents .pdf files and the encrypt them with PDF995 Signature. See the attachment for what you can restrict. Used this for years and works very well.

Need a little help
sgn replied to Marcarl's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Also as pastor maybe a review for the congregation of: Nehemiah: Learning that the walls of Jerusalem were broken down he asked the king for permission to return and rebuild them .... Even a small congregation can get things done! All it takes is one "Nehemiah" -
All I did was paint a kitchen and bathroom ......

I had to lower the air pressure in mine also ... about 8 pounds front and rear. The ride then became very good and handling improved greatly - it did make them "sing" a little but nothing that I can't live with

Wonder if an accident would be a whole new dish at the chinese buffet ... Biker on a stick. Think what his insurance would say ... And your right he is a unique person

Have them front and rear of my 83, seem to be very good. Not enough miles yet for full opinion. The rear is a bear to mount very stiff but balance of both tires was spot on and yes I ordered them from J.C. Whitney and got both dates within 10 months.

Looks like I get to "fire up the weed eater"! Rocket should be arriving at Venterous (RandyA) home and the rest of us locals desending like locust Wednesday afternoon/evening. A dinner is planned for Thursday evening (you get yours and I'll get mine type affair) so if your within driving distance and have the time come on over - yes we have a Dairy Queen close by.
-
How much $$$ to reproduce that wrench. The printer is very expensive, some I have seen upwards $40,000.00 But if someone would quote fairing pieces at reasonable price, once scan was done and file saved could be produced as needed. A lot of these 3D printers use ABS plastic "sugar" with a bonding medium.

Now Ms. Linda needs to post her side of the trip and we will see who is really in charge!

Mick is riding - Randy is riding ... Rolled "Tent Peg" out of the shop last evening. Cranked her up, started instantly, letting her warm up went back into shop to get helmet, sunglasses and gloves - back out at bike. WHAM - lightning, thunder, rain and wind! Crap so much for a nice ride! Tent Peg back into shed, off with the helmet, sunglasses and gloves. Lock up the shed and get into truck to go for supper. Sun is back out, temp drops and clear sky ..... So goes my life .....

Personal feeling is that no state should mandate the use of a helmet or any other gear for riding. One must assume the risk and address the issue to their own "comfort" level. As for me, full face helmet, jacket, gloves, long pants and boots or a must! For any pilon that may be riding with me. It's my bike and I set the rules AND the example. If they do not want to wear the gear, walk! Each one of us makes choices and it is not my "right" to make the choice for you, but I sure would hate to be the loved one that is picking "asphalt peas" out of your hide.
