  1. Check Throttle cable freeplay and for correct freeplay at actuator. Then perform following cycle test taking 2.5 seconds as shown on page 8-75 of manual and let us know what happens.

  5. The short version of what Yamaha recommends can be found in the owners manual, and it typically says to use Yamaha this that and the other. The long technical version of what Yamaha recommends can be found in the service manual where the actual specifications for the items are listed. I am using what Yamaha recommends per specification, just not in Yamaha labeled brands. Once you have hacked into a factory Yamaha filter you will never again buy one. See here... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?96009-Oil-Filter-Comparisons-Hey-I-m-no-Engineer As for Oil... I use a JASO MA rated, API SM rated, CJ-4 rated, oil in the synthetic flavor of 5W-40. As for filter... I use a Purolator PL14459 because it actually exceeds Yamaha's published specs. 6. I thought the plug was vibrating out of the socket causing my GPS to die as well. Ran fin in the car. Turns out the charging cable was bad and would lose connection with all the vibration on the bike, but would work fine in the car. Replaced the cable and now no more problems with maintaining a constant charge when on the bike.
  7. The damaged area still exists to the tire carcass even with a tube. It's speed rating is no longer valid. The method of retaining air with a tube is just as reliable as installing a patch with protruding plug from inside the tire. In either event the tire must be dismounted, the hole cleaned and deburred. I believe a patch that includes a protruding plug installed from within the tire is much better than running a tube. Either of those options is better then running with a plug just pushed through the exterior of the tire. Many folks have run thousands of miles with exterior plugs. They are just lucky.
