  1. All of yall are full of squat because. put some gopros on those crashbars and let me see some pavement.
  2. Saddlebags full or not... trunk full or not... do not exceed the speed of your guardian angel.
  3. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?95242-To-Lube-or-Not-to-Lube-That-is-the-question post number 5
  4. You guys might want to run a 10W-40 oil since it is a jap bike with finer clearances. Heck, according to the chart, if you use 10W-40 oil you are looking at a maximum ambient temp of 110 degrees. At 110 degrees yall won't be riding those things anyway. The Harley boys love to swill their 60W when it gets to 90 degrees ambient just because they have 1/4 inch clearance on their pistons knocking around in the air-cooled barrels and only have oil to cushion them. Yall might want to consider 5w-40 Rotella T6 Synthetic
  5. The 5GH-13440-XX series oil filter is used on many Yamaha's. The only number that changes is the "XX" part (probably used when the supplier changes). Since we have not had an oil-filter war on here for some time now... I present the following. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?96009-Oil-Filter-Comparisons-Hey-I-m-no-Engineer
  6. Harleys run a separate transmission/engine/clutch oil. None of them ever touch, You can run Brylcreem or genuine v-twin un-Jaso rated oil in your Harley engine. Not so on the Yamaha.
  7. Here is an article to read. From my experience they are as reliable as an anvil. https://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/900cc-comparison-kawasaki-vulcan-900-vs-suzuki-c50-vs-triumph-america#page-14
  8. In all seriousness now... Will this be an additional bike or is it replacing something?
  9. Shaft drive? Water Cooled? This has been determined to be blasé... and un-needed. Somebody stop me...
  10. Funny... we were just discussing how hot of a deal the new Venture is...
  11. Grovel and quake in your boots. You should fear Texas...
  12. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?130818-San-Angelo-is-HOT
  13. We can't. We don't know either. Thermal dynamics to create horsepower per CC were changed by Yamaha using... Magic....! The "Air-cooled" holdout Harley, steadfastly now says you need water to cool properly. Ohhhhh myyyyy head is a spinning.
  14. On a '99 Gen2 Venture you should be looking at a genuine Yuasa YTX20HL-BS AGM battery for about $90-$100. I get lucky here because my powersports dealer matches all the ads for pricing so I just get em local. They are made in USA. No stickers on the battery. Everything silk screened on case.
  15. I like my CUSTOM cause like PUC said, cast wheels and tubeless tires are a lot easier to deal with. Get a VN900C "Custom" if you can.
  16. What would your idea of a "decent price" be?
  17. Hydraulic line replacement as per manual. Master rebuild and slave rebuilt/replacement.
  18. Oh good lawdy Yamaha. Can't you squeak out just one more bike this year for this poor fellow. Heck, Harley builds extra just to cover the ones that fall off the trucks on their own... They call it... "The 1st Monday of the month morning day shift shortages coverage run for the current quarter". Ain't no sweat to produce a couple hundred extra..... before noon.
  19. An actual Yuasa YTX20HL-BS made in America for $90.00. All items silkscreened on case. Not just "stickered engineered". https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/ysa-ytx20hl-bs/overview/
  20. I am glad that everybody is getting their new bikes. However, I bet Harley didn't even notice the 150 SVTC's that sold into Canada and the 250 or so SVTC that swarmed the States...
  21. Check it out https://www.cycleworld.com/why-bigger-air-cooled-engines-become-harder-to-cool
  22. yup... they are all weighted on one side.
