Needing crush washer part numbers.
Du-Rron replied to DougS's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
A crush washer, once crushed under specific torque, can be crushed no further. They not only seal but protect the threads of what they are sealing. Yes, they should be replaced every time. Yours are probably 14mm aluminum crush washers and do not have to be purchased at the dealership. They will cost you less if you buy them anywhere else. Numbers eight and nine are probably what you are looking for. -
Ok, I gotcha and I agree with you as you explained it to me in post number 19 above. So... I started this thread seeking opinions from Cowpuc gained from his actual use of Shinko 777 tires. Cowpuc rides so much that he may not have a Shinko 777 on his scoot this week, but chances are high he will change tires 4 or 5 times this year and a Shinko 777 could be in line for the next tire change. If you have any actual experience with Shinko 777 tires I would like to hear about those as well.

Ok. Just like my post number 7 up above... are you speaking specifically about Shinko 777's or trashing the entire line. "The way this usually works out is I ask specifically about Shinko 777's... Something happens to confuse the issue to Shinko 230's or Michelin Commanders down the line... then a hamster walks into the bar... then cheeseburger cheeseburger cheeseburger ... orange whip... what were we talking about????"
-
And that is just like 15,534 miles to 18,641 miles.
-
I say it is because his left arm is shorter.
-
The 777's are rated to 130 and have proven stable so far to several folks here. On the flip side... Metzler is considered a cuss-word around here. Cowpuc gets to watch the Metzler delaminate in real time he rides so much.

Ah Yeah..... Well... I am having a love affair with my Shinko 777's as I am on my second set now. here is the 1st set going on. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?107652-Shinko-777-Tires The way this usually works out is I ask specifically about Shinko 777's... 51st week of 10 and 19th week of 12. -
Shinko advertises them as a higher load higher mileage tire. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?127279-Time-for-tires/page2&highlight=shinko post number 27 also contains the pdf catalog that was current at the time. I was kinda hoping the price would be competitive based upon what I was getting. According to MSN I live in the 7th hottest city in the nation. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?130818-San-Angelo-is-HOT I ride a lot in 100+ weather and about 25% of the time it is two up. I always ride heavy and fast. I have changed the Shinko 777's out at about 9000 miles average, not because they were bald, but becaue I wanted to, or for convienience, or for an upcoming trip, or for staging. I don't think they would make 20K but might make 15K. You are just our best unpaid tester Puc! I know you will get around to these before you wear out upcoming Venture Number 7.

For regular use NGK DPR8EA-9 (Stock Number 4929 ) For Iridium use NGK DPR8EIX-9 (Stock Number 2202 ) Stock #'s are written on the outside of the box.

Keep in mind that if you use moly grease... that contains a lot of moly... like Honda Moly... that the moly will continue to lubricate once the oil carrier in the moly grease has evaporated/washed/flung off. You got waaayyyyy more time in the saddle than I do so I am assuming you may have forgotten more about this moly grease thing than I ever knew. I didn't look real hard but I swear your diff gear is wore clean out (shown @ 0:26 ). Pointy teeth instead of square teeth.

Be sure to set the free play on the throttle cable at the diaphragm. Excessive free play increases set time and recovery time. Be sure to lubricate the cables. Be sure to check for vacuum leaks between vac motor and diaphragm.

Yeah... now that I look at how that is written it could look like integrated brake/trans... Good Show!!! Screw the SVTC.... the Schwinn is riding hot today...

I thought that updates were free for 5 or ten years. I remember hearing that in early advertising.

Ok... how about a car oil filter??? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?96009-Oil-Filter-Comparisons-Hey-I-m-no-Engineer
-
At the minimum... this is so easy... just use what the book says. If you feel bad about that, just drain it more often or use more expensive oil to make you feel better. I'm sure the more expensive oil will last longer than a cheaper oil. I'm sure that if you drain cheap oil sooner you will have the same protection as expensive oil at that particular point in time. Get you a moderate oil with a price you can live with that meets book specs and change it every 3k to 4k or when the shifting gets notchy and you will be fine. My big thing is Brake Fluid (DOT4) on my scoot. I MUST change out mine at least every six months or so to get the thing to shift. I attribute that to high ambient temp (was 109 Wednesday), fast driving speeds (I max out the cruise control just leaving the driveway), and a clutch slave bolted directly to the engine, that all contribute to heated clutch fluid on the long term. Never had problems with Engine Oil.

Finding/defining/debating the difference between Torque and Horsepower..

I love these mini reviews,, short, sweet and directly to the point..

The real deal. water-cooled flat 6, shaft drive, engineering dollars easily seen. troublesome suspension so far. Air-cooled belt drive v-twin. Not quite the engineering some of us were expecting. Boutique build quantities like Victory. Harley and Honda will not ever know this bike even exists. Will not pass Euro 5 emissions so this is a North American limited market bike only. The folks that paid cash for them might not be willing to lose 50% on their dollar in their 1st year. The folks that finance everything might be willing to get out of them for a loss since they probably got into them upside down in the 1st place. Would not surprise me to see a $27K SVTC in 2020 used for $10K.
